  1. Shez back in the dug out tmrw, cant for the life of me see why he got banned for 5 matches. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/ex-notts-county-boss-john-9662612
  2. I think Ipswich was my first proper away match, (not incl. Wembley) never had a seat before as used to stand in the Lookers, sat at the front jumped up for Marshys goal, went to sit back down and fell on my arse as not come to terms with seats that flipped up. Everyone around me pissed themselves. Didn't learn my lesson and did exactly the same for the second with the same crowd sympathy. Didn't care about the bruised arse after that result :-)
  3. I'm in Allerton near Penny Lane, there's a woman called Rachael as well who sits just in front of us at the match who I didn't know until I bumped into her in Liverpool! I've also seen a bloke in a Latics top walking down the street round here but was in a car at the time so couldn't shout out and haven't seen it/him since.
  4. This is a better article http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28161977 can't fault his honesty, exposes some of the problems with today's players and wish more players would put the effort in physically and mentally regardless of talent.
  5. Please sign this, one of my uni mates Stig is/was involved with the club and all the staff and fans don't deserve what's happened, here's an insight to what's going on from one of his workmates: Mark Farmer I have just created what I fully expect to be my final article for the Hereford United FC Official Website after 20 years service to the club. I cannot lie, I've been in tears while doing it (I promised myself I wouldn't!). I've just checked my bank account for the 10th time today to find that, as expected, my wages have not been paid in despite a 5th promise in 7 days. Eviction is on the cards for my wife and I with too many other bills piling up. I am not the only one that works at HUFC to be in this situation. I'm sad to say that in the last few years I have seen some truly brilliant and dedicated co-workers (I think of them as family & friends) dragged further and further down into a very nasty mire. Their loyalty to the club has been a true inspiration to me, and I will never forget that. My good friend & colleague Jamie Griffiths called it a day earlier today, I just cannot find it within myself to work at the club without him on board. A more dedicated person than Jamie I have never met. I feel for him and his family as much as I do for myself and mine. Our media team 'volunteers' of Steve Niblett, Gregg Davies, 'Stig' Ammonds, Mark Ammonds, Chris Phillips & Rhys Llewellyn gave of their time for free, and did such a professional job along with it, all for the love of the club. They are brilliant people. Not forgetting those stalwarts from our past like Paul Jeffsand Jon Wells that did so much for the club in our earlier 'online days'. Lee Symonds, Paul Harris, Ellen Moore Baggus & family, Rachel Norledge, Dave Preedy, Jamie Edwards, Steve Brotherwood, Adam Jones, Martha Baldwin, Steve Thomas, Chelsea Corner, Leigh Renton, Linda Richards and everyone else that works or worked at the club, none could be replaced by anyone better than them. (So sorry if, that in my despair, I have missed anyone). It's been my pleasure to meet hundreds, if not thousands, of great Hereford fans over the years. These people are the Hereford United. I do not wish bad things upon those people whose decisions and follies have driven our club to an all time low, all I will say is that I hope that they go to bed each night and think of us for a few seconds. HUFC will never die. It's in our hearts and our blood. I hope and pray that the club will end up in the hands of the people that deserve it the most, The Supporters. The supporters of Hereford United ARE the club. Thanks for your support, it's been a ball! COME ON YOU WHITES!
  6. Stranger things.... who's that the Mail thought would be playing upfront for us this year in Brazil? http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2013/12/02/sp-the-england-2014-team-mail-online-predicted-in-2007-where-are/
  7. Don't forget how we got bullied into the Elite Performance Plan meaning even if we put loads of effort developing kids we get peanuts for them, cos a team like City don't want to pay a couple of million for potential but can absorb massive losses and a £50m fine. This next thing is an excuse for them to hoover up all the young players without paying anything. Look at what happened with Philly, went to Chelsea as a prospect got eff all development drop back down to us. He could have developed more sticking with us but is probably a couple of years behind now! No young players, no foreign players, no loans, who's going to be playing in L1 + 2? A load of journeymen, not good enough players? That'll be fun to watch! Not only that what kind of wages are these 'highly rated' kids gonna be on when they don't make the grade and drop down the leagues? The days of former names on big wages were starting to die out as lower leagues started to balance the books better. You're gonna have a shed load of kids with Audis (was it Wabara who was on more at city than the whole of our squad - exaggeration of course) who act like Feeney & Parker an expect to be treated as stars. This will be a major f**k up, just so we can have 23 players to sell a brand and help pay of Wembley and FA wages (how the F**k is Howard Wilkinson still involved!!!) Really p****d off about this,FA have no clue or care for anything outside the Prem. Echo others, where 's the money for grass roots? Signing now!
  8. Yep Dave Penny left Been in remission since 2011 back in my seat in the main stand in the wind and the rain.
  9. Beat this! Diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma just after the 09 season had started, was advised that shouldn't be exposed to cold, germs etc. My missus contacted the club and they allowed me to go in the exec seats and club lounge (thanks Judith from the box office and Mr Hardy) after I persuaded her and my mum if I put lots of layers on I'd be fine. Don't know which was worse that season the chemo or Dave Penny's style of play!
  10. A comedian I know has a blog where he visits grounds and he was very complimentary of BP incl. a staff member who deserves a bonus for being a great ambassador for the club. Check it out here, scroll down to just under Gretna. www.andyfuryfootballgrounds.wordpress.com
  11. Is there any reason our boo boy always tends to be our right back? Eardley, Kieran Lee and now apparently Brown.
  12. Has anyone said David Currie yet? Greedy, talentless, I hated him and he had a rubbish tache!
  13. Oh wait this sounds more familiar http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/9980402/Margaret-Thatcher-scored-a-political-own-goal-with-her-attitude-to-football.html
  14. To be honest I don't remember it quite this way but it's in the mail so must be true http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2306005/Margaret-Thatcher-Football-snubbed-lady-saved-game-tribute-Manchester-derby--Jeff-Powell.html shame on us all!
  15. always thought we had the same problem with wes and furman as England have with gerrard and lampard ! ;-) would rather have wes in team on recent form and although an alright player found myself pulling my hair out as dean will do at least one risky backpass a game and will have a spell where he can only pass backwards! best of luck to all former latics (except feeney ) but not fussed and hopefully get a vocal captain now. also can't Murray take his slot? ktf
  16. Leeslover the only thing that ever got me down at Latics was the Dave Penny era! Been to a few away games and I sometimes think not being on home turf makes fans more likely to be abusive/less inhibited, I was at Crewe (I think) a few years back where the No surrender to the IRA song started being belted out which I just couldn't fathom. Think attracting these new fans will happen organically and if they don't there's no point forcing it unless there are major barriers we don't see, I started thinking about how long it took for women to be accepted into grounds and found this http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/the-womens-blog-with-jane-martinson/2011/sep/21/english-football-shouldnt-ban-men same thing really just with sex not race.
  17. I'm a mixed race (Barbados/Oldham) season ticket holder and sit bottom right of the main stand and usually I only ever see one other black fan (think he's a disabled lad) for the Everton game there were about 8-10 Asian lads infront of us, all involved in the game chatting to everyone and I saw a few other Asian fans dotted around, did think it was nice to see some diversity in the crowd. I started going late 80s cos mates and family went and also our PE teacher took the football team to a game (it pissed it down we got hammered - set me up for a lifetime of support)I've been fine in terms of abuse directed at me (always been a big lad though so don't usually get any bother) but in terms of if I was Asian, don't know if I'd bother sometimes as have still heard the 'townfull of P***s/ rather be a P*** than a C***' chants and if that was me I wouldn't come again as you can feel a bit embarassed complaining, I got stick for questioning the Adeyemi abuse at the time from a Liverpool mate who said he should've 'manned up'. That seems to be the line that the FA (or others) take in that - it doesn't happen anymore /if it does it's banter/ if it is worse than that lip service is paid but don't rock the boat.Don't think the problem is all about that though as it can be a generational, cultural and society thing too.
  18. I wrote this the day before the match (yes I know I effed up the date of the everton win) http://www.sabotagetimes.com/reportage/oldhams-fa-cup-run-reminds-us-that-football-is-about-having-fun/ - I almost lost my voice as I wasn't used to singing in the main stand - I'm sure I'm converting back my cousin who left us after we got relegated and started supporting man ure - I have been able to take the piss out of all my scouse mates continuously for the last few weeks and strut around Liverpool - I had to go and DJ for a mate of mine straight after the match which consisted of mainly Everton fans and a few reds and played Don't you want me baby whilst singing the chant to the room wearing my Oldham top (my Everton mate thought it was hilarious) The start of this year has been one of the funnest times I've had in ages, my missus questioned me getting a season ticket last summer now, even though she's a p/t Liverpool fan, she's been made up for me and my 2 yr old wants to come to Oldham with me. Thankyou Latics, thankyou!
  19. Got mine on Sat live in Liverpool got a season ticket! Those trips back down the M62 have been depressing until the L'pool game - now half of Merseyside hate me and the other half will do after Sat
  20. Did a refs course when I was about 14 and watched a mate ref an under 7s game and get verbal abuse throughout the game from parents, thought sod this every Sun morning for a fiver. So mainly feel sorry for them and actually think it's the governing bodies changing the rules every 5 minutes and not fully backing/overly backing refs. We still have discussions in the main stand over what rules are still being enforced (10 sec rule/7 steps rule/active play etc) half of us fans don't even know. However it need to be improved. Never like to go down the woe is us route but we have a small side and seem to constantly get battered by bigger physical sides who seem to get away with it whilst if one of ours shows even the slightest aggression we're constantly being spoken too/booked.
  21. The standard of refereeing has been shocking at BP though (surprise!) the Shrewsbury game was the latest in a long line of wtf moments for me. Smith smashing into their keeper gets a yellow, their player (No.29 I think) does exactly the same later gets nothing. Derbyshire stands still to head a ball, their defender goes through the back of him, freekick against Derbyshire! Usually you expect to get a little home advantage from the refs but can't remember last time I thought 'we've got away with that'. Don't even get me started on the linesmen! I don't think refs have the easiest job but they don't help themselves, especially at this level.
