I’ve mentioned Jack Nolan at Accrington a few times this season as someone we should go after as he has warmed the bench all season and is out of contract. A clever left footer who plays off the right. Finally got a start against Pompey at Fratton Park midweek and had a blinder by all accounts which has probably alerted a few clubs higher up than us

We’ll have a chance of League 1 benchwarmers, hence the Jonny Smith suggestion. You’d expect him to end up in League 2 next season so if that’s the case why not us, especially if Notts County go up in the playoffs and players realise they can get well paid and play for a big club.

I don’t think he’s anywhere near ready. More likely to be a Brendy Glackin than anything. only thing I would say is a lot of his goals seem to fall at his feet I.e he’s in the right position but he’s physically lacking

Whilst I would love this as I’ve been banging on about Lundstram all season, he’s recently signed a new contract so will cost a lot more now. Still not as much as Colclough mind but he’s a proper centre midfielder, has great technique as well as an engine.

Speaking of scousers, Jonny Smith is out of contract at the end of this season and has mainly been on the bench for Burton. He was loved here and it’s the only place he’s really flourished, so surely he’d consider it…

Every single manager in this league would get more out of this squad than Unsworth is getting. Results are short term, performances give a true indication of where a team is at and there is nothing cohesive or progressive about what we’re seeing. Thought it was noticeable when Gardner went down that the players didn’t go near the bench for instruction and had a mini conversion of their own in the middle of the pitch

One thing I would love to know the answer to but never will is which scout (at the time when Tollitt was in form) thought Colclough was the one to take from Altrincham and not one of their central midfielders Marriot or Lundstram. We could do with them now

Agree with this. I’d imagine most of our fans would have scoffed if we’d have signed Iliman N’Diaye (Currently Sheff Utd’s top scorer and played for Senegal at the World Cup) or Jayden Clarke (just moved to Gillingham from Boreham Wood) when they were both playing Sunday league football a couple of years ago. Our squad is littered with players on their way down the leagues, it’s a rare occurrence that this type of player goes back up in value. Even bloody Callum Dolan has got a move to Fleetwood in league 1, someone with raw ability who matured at semi professional level and is now playing 2 leagues higher than we are.

Agree. Should have been loaned to a club like Ashton Utd for a season and had the chance to get a regular run of games and confidence up if he did well
