  1. Yes, Coleman is still the answer but you're asking the wrong question. Both Coleman and Cornell will let goals in but Coleman will develop. He needs games to learn his craft and we need to be patient. The defence help neither keeper but fast forward 18 months, Coleman will earn us money.
  2. Medical experiment companies don't pay that much, that's the only way we'll get rid of Wilson at the minute. Looks like he has forgotten how to play the game.
  3. Just think how much more depressed some will be after today's tonking by Bury?!?!?
  4. I stopped listening to what managers say long ago, media guff to fill airtime or chip wrappers. "Waiting for the right man" is just "I've been given a bag of washers and asked to work miracles". Sadly at this moment Burton are better than us, they've proved it once on the pitch and backed that up with their league position. Yes it is painful but it is what it is. Football is a different beast to what it was, I don't know the sums but wouldn't surprise me if more money comes in through OEC than the bit that involves players and league positions. If we do go down this season it is Corney's fault for appointing Kelly then Dunn not who we do or don't sign now. We've got a half season challenge with the aim of staying up and it is going to be bloody difficult to do it.
  5. I've still got a bit of hope that we will survive but I haven't been as certain that we would get relegated before. The Barnsley & Colchester games and to some extent Milwall were the kind of games that made it look almost inevitable. But we aren't yet completely cut off, a few wins and defeats for the other stragglers could see us clinging to that place just above relegation, the loan window closes in March/April?, FFP does limit things but a signing(s) at that stage may get us over the line. It may well be time for Corney to go but if there are other fools out there who wish to turn their pile of money into a smaller pile of money I don't see them forming a queue. I've heard offers have been made but rejected due to Blitz wanting more cash up front and retaining possession of lands but no one can force someone to sell if it doesn't meet their valuation.
  6. Anybody who thinks we are going to make an exciting cash money signing in this window really hasn't been paying attention to anything. The term 'signing' has been used but this isn't going to be a 22-25 year old with experience and talent it will a 18-20 or 30-35 player who is released or we take over their contract. Other than that we will get a few loans or on contract till the end of the season. If it is looking like we could go down later in the season it is at that point that Corney may :censored: or bust and get a better quality of loan in to try and stave off the relegation.
  7. Surely it makes more sense to get changed where they train? So they are planning on leaving home in leisure wear, driving to BP, getting changed there then driving to Chapel Rd, training, then in their muddy training kit getting back in their cars or a minibus, going to BP to get showered and changed and this is an improvement? Have I got the wrong end of the stick?
  8. Here's some chainsaws losesome, now please go over there and juggle them. Dunn did his best, he steadied the ship when we were in serious trouble after the Peterborough tonking and he started to learn what being a football manager is about. He tried but ultimately came up short here, at a time when we were in financial constraints due to the building of the stand which led to players being paid late which increased the uncertainty after the mis-appointment of Kelly. The amount of abuse directed at Dunn for doing what any number of people would have done and jumped at their first managerial appointment was quite frankly disgusting, not a pop at you losesome, just venting now. Dunn lost and drew some games through managerial decisions, he was let down at times by individual mistakes but he tried to do his best. He said some frank things about players that he will learn from and not repeat if he gets another managerial job. I'm disappointed it didn't work out for Dunn, I want every Latics manager to succeed, I'm pleased that Shez is back as it was a shame how he left. Hopefully he has learned from the mistakes he made here last time and puts them right this time.
  9. We do things proper 'ere. Now, where's me red fleece?
  10. From the first team squad I can only think of Winchester and possibly Coleman being at the club at the same time Shez was manager?
  11. Quite funny looking at that thread, I gave Shez's successor one and a half seasons, Penney didn't even get that. And I even got my 'joke' in about about sacking the new manager Mr X before they had even been appointed, I've been doing that same gap since 2009! That's six years and umpteen managers ago.
  12. At the time we were a team that had just shipped 5 against Peterborough, changed manager and looked like the wheels could really come off. Playing for a 0-0 made complete sense, games do not happen in isolation there are many factors that determine results.
  13. If the stuff that happened with the staff who use the white kicky thing was going better than the ambitions to sell would be very much decreased.
  14. It shouldn't be about 'staying up' it should be about building the longer term foundations of the club to make sure we don't get into this sorry mess again. The playing side needs to be coordinated from the school kids in the after school clubs through to the junior ranks to the first team. The scouting should be built around finding players who fit into the system and then the other off-field activities, the marketing, the conferencing should be geared to increasing revenue for the playing side which in turn will increase the off field revenue.... It is the short termism that has got us where we are, the lack of the overall vision, planning and strength of purpose needed to stay the course that has seen the slow decline. I don't want to type the next line but the only way I would take a relegation is to build the above and start repairing and improving the club.
  15. He also inherited a pretty good squad and was able to work with players who were in the second year of their two year deals on the whole. OAFC are a far different proposition now.
  16. Also depends on any restrictions that FFP may place on us and does anyone know whether we are under a transfer embargo or other ramifications from the late payment of players?
  17. They've made another statement that they will be making another statement tomorrow afternoon to let us know that they will be making more statements!
  18. The new guy has clearly lost the dressing room, Mr X Out!!!
  19. On fisul now. Holden gone too and Brown (Not Connor) http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/article/club-statement-david-dunn-2897760.aspx
  20. What kind of soft lad gets that upset and then complains?
  21. Hasn't every manager since Dickov (and maybe before?) questioned Winchester's fitness and/or commitment? Granted he was a first team regular during spells under most recent manager he is usually one of the first to get the curly finger. I enjoy watching the lad and he would be one of the first names on the team sheet for me but there are question marks against him that land at his door before anyone elses.
