  1. I agree, I think Brill could be sold if the rumour of him being one of the top earners at the club is true. To be fair he has improved since last season (he really needed too!), but so have the other players. We have 3 good goalkeepers if not better in some cases who could easily take his place. I am not bashing the guy. Has anybody also noticed the way club are trying to go all out to win the fans over on Brill. The match reports from the site make him out to be Iker Casillas? So do the commentators on LP, I've never known them to do that for a player.
  2. +1 I agree, that's a very good idea. Ask Alan is there anything being done by the club to get in the community to get the fans to come to matches? My local ice hockey team sells tickets in a variety of stalls in the city and one of the major supermarkets sells there tickets in there stores.
  3. Maybe the increase in season ticket holders may offset that. From the club's point of view throwing in a freebie programme with a ST is better and far less drastic than the all season tickets for 100 pound idea. Which is the route Huddersfield and Bradford have gone.
  4. I read on this forum that Stockport and Grimsby are doing something similar, but in there case its for general admission rather than season ticket holders.
  5. I am not slating the club and when you think about it. It is not that bad of an idea, but there are so many better suggestions and initiatives they could of pick from than this. But if it helps the club, then why not.
  6. I see you have been summond to see the "The Emperor" cue the evil empire tune from Star Wars! I have one bug bear that I feel needs a mention. Why is there so much inconsistant information coming out of the club from the directors? Examples of this: 1) TTA saying they are going nowhere, then a few weeks later 2 of them leave. 2) Being told we have a budget for this season and that the Eaves transfer will see us out for part of next season too. Then having him and another director asking us to dig more deeply into our pockets or the club will die! Those are the main examples I can think of. Another suggestion in regards to bringing in more fans, have fans subscribe to a membership scheme for a fee per season that entitles them to a discount on matchday entry, programmes and souvenirs. If the club can't do that off there own back, then maybe in partnership with the trust extend those perks to trust members, hence enticing more fans to join the trust. Season ticket holders should be entitled to a complimentary matchday program as part of the perk of being a season ticket holder.
  7. +1 They need to take a more positive approach in dealing with the fans, follow our managers example.
  8. He was another one I was thinking of. I also think you have a good point in regards to Alan Hardy as well, he has been a good servant to the club, but I think we need another Sean Jarvis type as well.
  9. Prozac, you have hit the nail on the head, with your comments to Barry's post. I know that the board care's about the club like we do. But I feel if the board want to find out what the general consesus is amongst Latics fan's is right now your comments pretty much nailed it, both myself, my dad and my grandad before he passed away have had this opinion and feel this way in regards to what's happening right now. The only people that seem to have a positive spin on things has been Paul Dickov, his coaching staff and the players. With the board its still a case of watch the club or it will die, attitude! They don't seem to be positive when dealing with the fans, unlike Paul Dickov.
  10. Like another fan has said, I don't have anything against Alan Hardy personally, but you are absolutely spot on! I was beginning to think I was the only latics fan that had this opinion, judging the way Latics Pete and company went on the offensive whenever I mentioned his name or tried to raise this point. He does at times come across through various media outlets to have the business/market stratergy of Alf Roberts (1980's Corrie, he owned the corner shop, for those who don't remember or were not alive back then). Your point you have made in this comment about the club is absolutely spot on!
  11. Hi Barry For those of us who live in exile, who may no longer hold a U.K bank account to transfer money from, to the schemes account. Is there any chance you could look into setting up a paypal account against this scheme or something similar? That would make it a lot easier to contribute. Other wise its the long winded wire transfer route and for that I would need to know the IBAN number, SWIFT code and address of the account.....ect.
  12. That is true, I am for one am very glad that there not in charge. Great performance on the pitch and off it with the attendance. Great start! Time to celebrate with a few beers and a bbq for lunch.
  13. That is a shame about the attendance, hopefully a few more results like this and more fans will come back. Its an improvement on last season on both performance by the team and attendance. But come come on Latics fans start turning this feel good factor into attendance. The Club needs us!
  14. To bad that Dean Spill is not on that list, but there is still time for the rest of Penney's over payed flops to find the exit door. Mr Dickov has realised what most fans with common sense knew at the begining of last season. Just goes to show how bad of manager Penney was, how bad of a team that he brought in and oversaw. Looking forward to the new season PD and the club seem to be making the right noises, so far.
  15. That's a very fair point from both you and opinions4u. Its just the goakeeping farce, for me just summed up how bad things were last season under the Penney regime. I am not saying Greg Fleming is our saviour but he should not of been loaned out in the first placed and should of been recalled when needed. Especially with Dean Spill in goal.
  16. This was coming from a goalkeeper coach, who's goalkeeping experience consisted of being 3rd reserve to Crossley at Forest and 2nd reserve goalkeeper to Ben Roberts and then Mark Schwarzer at Boro.
  17. +1, I agree! Don't forget Dean not so Brill and that useless article called Parker. Complete Moron!
  18. Nah...I remeber him having quite a few good games for us in our promotion season. Portsmouth and Plymouth away spring to mind.
  19. Any player that Dave Penney signed except Gregan, Pav and JJ. I think whoever mentioned Beckford was a tad harsh. He scored some vital goals, remember Liverpool 93 and Bolton 94?
