  1. Has he made sure that his signings can all play in front of big crowds this season? Remember that one?
  2. We're very short in defence. Hobson, Raglan, Hogan/Sutton/McGahey might be a quite strong starting 3 but one or more of them getting injured or out of form and we're very, very light and have no option to go to a 4 or 5 with fullbacks. Kitching is OK at LB or LWB but, again, who steps in if he's injured/suspended/playing badly? Right side is non-existent defensively and Green and Kitching are totally different players at Wingback. It's bizarre that Shelton hasn't been tried at fullback or right mid. I'm no fan but surely he'd offer at least an iota of solidity that Green can't? I don't see it with Lundstram like some of you do but it looked like he'd be the first name down to start in midfield then as soon as he's injured we're back to Sheron & Shelton who were integral to our poor season last season (Sheron did improve late on to be fair). Again, we're massively short in centre mid and massively inexperienced even with everyone fit. Although a fit Gardner would be a boost he's no calming old head that a player of his age & career could be. There must be a Chris McCann circa 2020 or two out there? Upfront we look alright and have options but, that said, none of them is reliable either as a goalscorer or in staying on the pitch in Big Mike's case. And he seems reluctant to use Willoughby who should be a reliable goalscorer and who we're told by Chester fans needs to play all the time to be so. Is this really being "backed to the hilt" or words to that effect that I keep reading? I've also seen "he's got no excuses this season" bandied about a lot - he very much might have if none of the above is addressed. Happy Monday
  3. Modern TV's are usually really slimline too. You wouldn't be able to balance it.
  4. Gardner's other problem is that he's clearly a very naturally talented footballer but he's never seemed to fit any system he's found himself in with us. You're never sure quite what he is or what he's supposed to be. But then he's seemingly done quite well in League One with Wigan...... Also, his middle name is Keith. That can't help.
  5. If Unsworth is here all season I think we'll make the playoffs but not get over the line. And he'll get another year and we'll see a similar outcome the following season. If he goes, who knows? New man might quickly get a tune out of the squad and/or quickly bring in the right players (especially in midfield if this is what we go into the season with). Or he might need time after showing us a bit of something to deserve it. Either way I don't see us getting promoted until 24/25 season at the earliest, maybe not even then. And the longer we're here the harder it might get. I'll be ecstatic & relieved to be proven completely wrong.
  6. Mick Rathbone should be given free Georgian for life if he can keep him fit for a whole season......
  7. Is he saying he asked Unsworth if he could send a subbed player back on because of it and he said no?
  8. Hopefully a midfielder of a similar ilk to Raglan
  9. What are you seeing in them that I'm not?
  10. Not with such a poor looking midfield behind them
  11. Wigan's once pitiful away followings seemed to become quite good after a couple of what must have been monster fun seasons yo-yo'ing between League One and the Championship. Same as ours have died off since the last few in League One.
  12. Why are you assuming our Championship attendance wouldn't rise similarly?
  13. Or it might have been Walsall in front of 5,760. Either way, there were never more than 3,000 in.....
  14. 14 years, 4 years, 5 years - how many years of those 5, 4 or 14 was the running of those clubs stable/stablish giving them the ability to recruit a bit/quite a bit better than the rest? That's the key and that's what we're told we've got. We should be at the end of our "it took Oldham x years to get out of this league" as opposed to in the mires Wrexham, Notts & Chesterfield were once in during/before the timescales you've used.
  15. I remember beating Watford in front of about 3,000 in 1988. We'd been on a very poor run and it was cold and bleak. These were the days when the club would only sometimes blag the attendance in a downward direction for the taxman rather than this bizarre recent practice of pretending more were in....
  16. Is fickle really the right word? I don't think we're any different than most, if not all, clubs in the regard that we have fans who only want to go when it's good. Each to their own. I get it and sometimes wish I could be like it. There'll always be us 3,000-4,000 or so who'll go no matter what. That'll double, or close to double, if we're gunning for promotion in this league and the two leagues above. Who knows what we could pull in the Championship/top flight nowadays? Thank you though for the first correct use of the word "fanbase" that I've seen in a long, long time.....
  17. Absolutely - he looks a great signing, exactly what we need. Should be a class above the level, could have 3 or 4 years + left in him, Cheltenham fan on Twitter says he's a leader. Someone of a similar ilk in midfield next would be spiffing.....
