  1. In other words...no one seems to want to win it. Strange result on Satdi. No one could sanely predict a three-goal bonanza...yet two flakey bastards did. The outstanding thing for me is that, among the contenders, only David Collinge -- that name again -- went yellow in two columns. You just can't write him off, especially when you see such desperate cringey fragility at the top of the table. IIRC it was about this time last season when I went top and :censored:ing stayed there. It's a simple game with Sheridan in charge (although clearly not simple enough for some of you dimwits). You work out what we need to stay up and whether the oppo need the points as much as we do. If they're :censored: and need the points, we'll win. If they're good and need the points, we won't.
  2. :censored: off you're only 40. You can't deduct the years you spent in jail y'know.
  3. What are we to make of a man who knows the result before the game?
  4. With disjointed, you question the resilience and adaptability. With nzlatic, you question the man's will to win and his hunger. Is nzlatic too nice to lift this trophy?
  5. Very solid show from disjointed...but the questions persist. If you're nzlatic (who's been there) or Carl Waters (who hasn't) you'd fancy your chances if it comes down to a helicopter situation. Still. I'm never slow to give credit where it's due. If he can just work out what the Administrators want (in cash or favours), the title could be his without a fight, like it was for Ex_pat last season.
  6. This plan has other flaws...the first being the Enigma Tavern. The bar in the ground is better, if you feel like giving the Mongs more of your hard-earned. Alternatively, Frankie and Bennys has overpriced beers and a family friendly atmosphere to destroy if you so wish.
  7. I'll be working...fortunately. No dilemma.
  8. Funny how the Title contenders are all in third place in their groups, with the exception of Carl Waters, who's in second place on goal difference. Difficult to imagine how the "cup" could be more devalued but the lack of commitment from the so-called big boys is...notable. My advice to anyone from David Collinge and above to put in a decent-but-not-full-strength side and go out as soon as possible.
  9. I can explain. Since the start of this season I've been imploring the One True Roman Catholic God to come up with a plan to keep us up. Corney didn't have one...Robinson did his best but came up with nothing...but God seems to be coming through, first with Sheridan and now with the Ginger Prince. If you're bothered about Stokes's roots, just stare at Chris Taylor's hair for a bit to take your pulse rate down.
  10. You're on. I usually run a book on jobs boards at work. Everyone picks the person they like the most to get the job, which means rich pickings for the house. I'll see what I can do at the weekend.
  11. David Collinge, quietly going about his business...rolling back the years. Could be worth a punt if you get him at today's generous 16/1.
  12. Like Federer said today about Nadal - I'd happily have shared the crown with such a worthy opponent...but predicting is a tough game. Good camaraderie at the end as well.
  13. I'm all for scrutiny but it doesn't mean Simon or anyone else in the trust board get lynched every time something doesn't go their way. The real power is with the club...so if Corney wants us playing in red, black and white next season, that's what'll happen. It wouldn't be a failure on the part of anyone on the trust unless they came out and said "We're fine with that and with the new sky blue away kit". I've criticised the trust hierarchy in the past, especially in the days when Barry had clearly gone native, but I'm always reluctant to pile in on volunteers acting in good faith, even if it leads them to a different conclusion from the one I would've come to. And they have a voice but not much or zero power, so there's that to consider too.
  14. Whatever it is...it's not a thriller. Last season...when I won it...you had big names fighting it out at the top, with two upstarts (Harry Bosch, lookerstandandy) there or thereabouts. The top spot was changing hands weekly...until I hit the top and started to pile in with the 8-pointers and 11-pointers, until that final helicopter Sunday, when I emotionally took the crown from nzlatic in dramatic circumstances (I think it was him, but no one remembers who came second).
  15. Huge facepalm moment for disjointed. It's not a capital crime in predicting to panic...but it is a capital crime to let your opponents know you're panicking. Those old questions about his resilience and adaptability just keep coming back don't they? For those asking, if I had to put money on one player to win it, I'd probably go with Carl Waters.
  16. It's always the way in third world countries, like OWTB.
  17. I know what the council tried to do was wrong, but it was only really really wrong because of the brazen corruption. The Den and Bermondsey is about a 30-minute walk from London Bridge...30 minutes basically from the City of London. There are excellent transport links to Canary Wharf, Docklands and the whole of London. It's miles closer to St Paul's cathedral than Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Fulham, Palace, Charlton and Dulwich Hamlet. There's a chronic housing shortage in London, and the land on which the Den is built is worth an unbelievable amount more as real estate than it is as a football ground. Millwall objected to the CPO, but I can see a Millwall owner pulling a similar stunt in future. Let's not forget that "Millwall" the place is north of the river, on the Isle of Dogs. They've moved before. Having said that, there was a massive outcry among the toothless ones when they moved from The Den to The New Den...a distance of less than a mile.
  18. Limbs AOTS in Strood and Maidstone this evening...when someone reads the news to them.
  19. Agreed. ^Losing it. You do not need dialogue with the Mullah of Mediocrity. You're spending valuable time on someone who really will not matter come the end of the season...or at the start of the season or in the middle of it. ^Agreed...which is one reason why your mid-table plodding is sooooooo unmystifying.
  20. I was talking to disjointed specifically there, as his paid consultant. His problem is...not to put to fine a point on it...his head goes down and he heads back into his comfort zone, which isn't far away from the prizes but never quite there. Just sounded to me like he was staking a lot of his morale on tonight's game, and specifically the attendance, when there's so much more to play for the rest of the season. I don't disagree that attendance points tonight will be absolutely lovely and a fine achievement in their own right (similar to my Maximum), but when you're in it for the title, you have to play a longer game.
  21. With a game like tonight you've got to forget about the attendance. Control the controlables. Interesting to see you went for the traditional 0-0 / 1-1 combo last game. Fail to adapt...adapt to fail. Or something like that.
