  1. I thought there was a limit as to how many times you could extend the loan of a single player and, as far as I can recall, we extended Adeyemi's loan three times or so. I may be wrong though (probably am).
  2. I think he'll go on to do well and wouldn't be disappointed to see him back next season. However, this would be based on him progressing and improving on this season. There could be a decent box-to-box midfielder in there and he's obvioulsy keen on bursting into the box and should be scoring more than he does. If he can improve on his composure in finishing and be 'involved' or dictate a game on a more consistent basis (which I would expect him to do with more experience) then he'll do well for himself.
  3. And in a good number of those games he was outstanding. At the moment (given he only came on as sub following M'Voto's red card) he wouldn't be selected. What's your point?
  4. Exactly. He's playng because Diamond and M'Voto are unavailable and Brown is ahead of him in the pecking order. Maybe a relegation battle in a team that can't score isn't the best environment to make the mistakes that he's bound to make but maybe that's the situation we're in.
  5. In an ideal world, KMB would have been great to bring on to take advantage of the extra man but as there's something not quite right behind the scenes then maybe it's for our and his longer term good that he's not being called upon at the moment.
  6. Those of us in employment should have a option of sponsoring a student enabling them to get cheaper entry into the ground. This would be on the understanding that they chant on my behalf for 90 minutes, backing only the players that I like and deliver my list of insults to officials whenever they are in earshot.
  7. £10 for a junior ticket is brilliant value. The previous £50 price was good enough but the saving will pretty much pay for the new home kit as well. Very pleased with that.
  8. I think moaning about the entrance fee for Saturday's match is moaning for moanings sake. The last 5 games were £3 a piece ffs.
  9. As they're local, it probably makes sense to offer tickets to see them rather than teams positioned on the coast though, eh? ;) I think it's a nice reciprocal arrangement to offer. If we were at a loose end with Latics away, or to get out of being dragged to shopping centre / in-laws then why not? There's worse things to do than watch a match and have a pie.
  10. Me! As :censored:e as it can be, it's what I do these days(hasn't always been the case)
  11. I'm sure there's some reason for it but it needed two trips to BP to buy my lads first season ticket last July. We had to produce his birth certificate to show he was under 16. He was 4 at the time and was stood next to me.
  12. Last year's season ticket pricing did include prices based on 1 parent & 1 child (although I don't think there was actually discount for bundling them together). To be fair the £50 kids season ticket is a bargain anyway although I'm sure my lad quadruples his contribution to the club in the volume of tuck shop bought Haribos he goes through.
  13. Don't forget Marsh-Brown. Still hopeful about him.
  14. They probably wanted to see if their local paper would print it. Given the transfer fees they've shelled out (relative to ours) and given their position in the table (relative to ours) its difficult to be surprised about it. I think it also highlights (despite recent murmurings) the very decent job being done by Dickov in getting us to compete against teams with transfer budgets of any kind.
  15. An epic, cracking read as ever. I may not always agree with your view of certain events but I really appreciate the way you string them together.
  16. Not sure but, if he has, then he'll probably have been guided to follow his father's dreams of creating the world's first Pudding on a Muffin factory and getting product into the top restaurants of Paris, New York & Derker.
  17. I can only think we have some DNA splicing equipment up and running at BP so we need to get these kids in to steal their parent's genetics. I'm sure that with further experimentation, testing and hard work in the lab we'll be able to create a a left back.
  18. Must admit it seems and odd video to piece together compiled with footage that probably isn't available through Latics Player. Is there a longer version that mentions his price, OAFC opening hours and some message about terms and conditions?
  19. Completely different players. Frankie was a target man, very capable of scoring but, more importantly, brought others in play as well. Andy Ritchie benefitted from this in particular but he also enabled us to get more from the likes of Rick Holden and Neil Adams. More often than not, it worked and I don't think I'm stretching it to say that, at the time, we had one of the most effective front lines in the country. Bunn was at the heart of that.
  20. How has a thread on Reece Marsh turned into another Marsh-Brown critique. Anyway, to join in. We should coach and nuture him. If we don't and it comes back to bit us on the arse in a few years, then it would serve us right for not having the patience.
  21. Has next season's fixture list been announced yet? Which division are we in? I only ask because there's more than a fair chance that contracts don't get offered until our L1 status is assured and, even then, I would bet the contents of my loose change jar that only short term deals will be offered again. The players themselves, are obviously entitled to see what else comes in at the end of the season so it makes no sense for them to sign now and there could also be an element of them wanting to see who else stays/ leaves before they'd commit anyway. We've got no money and, rightly, don't want to be over-committing ourselves at the expense of the club's future. Just something that we have to put up with, I'm afraid.
  22. Could be a cracking player. Typically of a winger (and particularly a young one) may not always take the right option but this can be coached into his game (see also C Ronaldo's early years at Stretford Rangers). However, he's got a trick on him and defenders will never enjoy playing against speed. Bad foul last night but some of the over-reaction on Twitter was ridiculous. If Paul Scholes had joined us at any stage in his career, he'd last 3 matches before being hounded out.
  23. Does this mean he gets to stand in for Billy Quarmby if William isn't available to 'help' with the player warm ups? (I like Broady. Seems decent and understands the club/ fans)
  24. I totally get the point about Preston. Going 2-0 down and feeling resigned to a bigger defeat, only to be pleasantly surprised was only part of the story. For me, the atmosphere and backing generated amongst us was what made it really special and I'd certainly put it up there. Yesterday was incredible. There was no way I could see us getting anything than other than a hiding and I have taken a 3-1 defeat before kick-off as long as the majority of players did themselves justice. It left me all shades of shocked and I don't anticipate coming down or stopping watching the goals any time soon. I know we with a team of kids, we could now just as easily show our inconsistency by dropping points over the next couple of games but there's equally a chance that some of them who will start to show some sort of belief in what they could achieve over the remaining games this season and into next.
  25. There seem to be an over-reaction last night which I was going to dive into but thought better of and watched the end of Shameless instead. However, Dickov is what Dickov is. A young manager in his second season trying to put a team together, with very limited resources, to play in a way that he wants us to play. The system of loanees and short-term contracts, itself borne out of feeble resources, means that he can't do the longer term planning that I'm sure he'd like to do - surely we all know that by now. However, although he may mention being down to the <cliche>bare bones</cliche> and not having the depth he'd want, I don't think he really ever seeks to use it as an excuse. He's also still likely to make mistakes or, to put it another way, sometimes make decisions that many will disagree with. Good. That's his job - he gets paid to do it and <cliche>football's all about opinions, innit</cliche>. Sometimes these can be interpreted as tactical naivety, sometimes they be just that but then maybe sometimes, the plan B that we may be thinking of, isn't actually going to work either. So what does he have available to him? Firstly, passion and enthusiasm. I'm a firm believer that passion or enthusiasm is a huge asset whatever you choose to do and more so when a part of your job is to inspire and get others to follow your instructions. Of course, it doesn't get you any points but it's better having it than not. There is also the feeling that we should be able to do better with this squad and that he's not doing that due to some management failure on his part. That being the case, then at least credit Dickov for having the player spotting ability or salesmanship to be able to persuade this set of players to turn out for us. I think we can (and will) finish around the middle, which will be a decent achievement as far as I'm concerned. Beyond that, I'd be more inclined to judge him at the end of next season against sensible criteria.
