  1. And yet we won! Are you expecting a bit too much from a league one football team? Sounded ok on Latics Player.
  2. You should all do what I do, ignore anything that yarddog writes. He/she is a very depressing and irritating contributor and one of a number of regular posters who will eventually turn people off this forum.
  3. It's dead simple really, when we win all's well, when we lose all is desperate. That's message boards for you. The truth is somewhere in the middle.
  4. Black boots Mullets Walking down sheep foot lane to see Jim Frizzell's aces
  5. Time for Mills to regain his place and find the form we know is in there.
  6. I lîved in Burton for four years from 1991 when we were in the Premiership, Burton Albion then were just a half decent non league team. Football eh!
  7. So we only give managers 8 games now dec666. Ridiculous.
  8. Cornell was superb yesterday. Why has this not been mentioned by many, is it because he's not 'one of our own'?
  9. So is your view yard dog, what do you have against Dunn? ('all that he stands for')just interested, and what type of manager do you think we should have given we have pretty much tried everything affordable to us?
  10. ..........and that is why some are being overly critical of Dunn. He probably knows it's not a great squad. Give him plenty of time to change things and welcome the loan signings, they are there to replace those we think aren't good enough. A good thing surely.
  11. Can't understand why some aren't getting behind Dunn, it's baffling. He is an ex Premiership star, played for his country, starting out as a manager, northern lad, well thought of by anyone who is asked to comment. We have traditionally done ok when giving the job to first timers fitting most of that criteria (Royle, Dowie' Sheridan). The football has been no better and no worse than much of the last 20 years. Some of the criticism after just a few weeks is a bit harsh, don't forget we had players missing yesterday and so had to field players we all know by now are not good enough. When he builds his own team , let's judge him. Purse and sow's ear comes to mind. His own recruits to date look to have strengthened us don't they. Just a realist not a HC.
  12. Nothing wrong withe BBC interview, why are people over analysing every bloody managerial interview these days, it's boring.
  13. I am not a fan of Brown either BUT:1. A lot happened after Brown threw the ball in (poorly) and the goal ought to have been prevented. 2. Nobody is giving him credit for winning the header that led to our goal. Just giving a bit of balance.
  14. Yes, easily, just over an hour with a decent run, hour and a half tops
  15. Welcome back Mike Jones. At last a latics player demanding the ball, the game changed once Kelly went off and Jones appeared to step up under the responsibility. Been pretty poor/anonymous for the first hour. We need Kelly of course but I wonder if Jones is feeling inhibited somehow. Brown, not good enough, rest of back four will do for me, Mills or Eckersley in ASAP. Philliskirk, not good enough, doesn't want the ball enough. Croft is Croft, I like his graft and you will always get at least 7/10. Swansea boy Fulton had a good start then disappeared a bit BUT looks classy on the ball and again should demand the ball more. Looks promising to me and ought to keep his place. Higden, deceptively effective, very heavy and very slow but could be a good signing, a real experienced player with a bit of know how. Poleon, so frustrating, exciting on his day but woeful finisher, may have had a hat trick and really should have scored from Higdens header from Diengs cross. To his credit he changed the game. Yeates will do a job for us, adds a bit of excitement which this side needs. Better days ahead I think.
  16. Dunn has been there long enough now to know the players strengths and weaknesses. He will be better placed than most to be able to see what each player is capable of in their best positions (Kelly and Cassidy aside) and if he is as good as we hope he will have seen enough to know what formation ought to suit the players available to him. After that it's down to motivation and prep for the opponents we are due to play. Surely his experience and badges will mean he will be capable of that at this level? Never a dull moment at Latics, withe exception of the 90 minutes on the pitch maybe.
  17. If we think we have a talented squad that needs the right motivation and leadership and not too much technical/tactical brilliance then it's Dowie surely. In reality it's Dunn for the season and beyond and I for one am ok with that, the guy has presence, pedigree and a reputation in the game. Come on Dunn, give us a season to remember now.
  18. But there was always the chance that they had found someone with potential , wait a few games, observe and reach conclusions early on in the season. They haven't, they did and they have. New manager, long way to go, let's support. I don't think anyone wanted to 'give him til Christmas' did they?
  19. A goal like that gets scored by natural finishers, on instinct. Needs a run and I think we have a player there. Noticeable that it was Dunn that saw the run and then picked the pass. A moment of promise in a shocking game.
  20. Out of the area wasn't he? Would have been sent off. Poor positioning.
  21. I don't think you could say he hasn't had a fair crack of the whip. He has had one decent season in all the time he has been here. Don't quite get the love in and wouldn't be too sorry. Agree he has a bit of something but still too lightweight and inconsistent for me.
