  1. A lot of people are simply taking the first half of the season and multiplying it by two. Football doesn't work like that.
  2. Th There's a good chance that the three going up this year will come straight back down next.
  3. If you want to look for a positive then a quick look at the league table will tell you that we are not an easy team to beat! We have only lost 8 games from 24, even Peterborough have lost 9 matches in 6th place. Granted we have a pathetic win record, the worst by far at only 3 so we draw too many games as we all know. That tells us though that we are surely unlikely to lose today! This 'hard to beat' (fact) gives us hope. Come on Oldham.
  4. Crowd funding in the business world is typically used to raise capital for a variety of uses (working capital, investment in machinery, investment in staff, IT improvements etc.). It is usually a loan to the business concerned in return for interest and with the eventual return of capital to the investor. I am assuming funds loaned to Latics in this manner will therefore be returned at some stage and in the meantime we may be given the option to receive either interest or discounted tickets or VIP tickets per the survey. Try googling 'Funding Circle' for an example of this type of proposition. In summary I would assume that Latics are asking us to 'invest' funds here and not just to give funds. I stand to be corrected though as it's not clear from the information seen to date.
  5. Wow, YD73, you haven't mentioned that Dunn should be sacked on this post, you're slipping.
  6. [quote name="oafc1955" post="823132" timestamp He probably can't wait to get away from the place and it doesn't help that we're on our 4th manager since he came in!!! Or away from the abusive environment that BP can create too, sometimes we drive players to perform poorly and want to get away. Same at most clubs probably.
  7. This will be disappointing but not unexpected. When he scored his goal for us just before he went to Crawley from a Dunn pass I thought at the time that was just the intelligence that Dunn would want in front of him. How wrong. Shame.
  8. Accept the point but you are still restricted to only the cards you hold.
  9. It's like cards though, you can only play the hand you're given. Wait til the next hand from Jan onwards. If nothing changes, then in my view it's fair to have a pop.
  10. Probably not but I can see a lot of players being played in the same positions but not meeting their earlier standards this year, that has occurred under Johnson through to Holden, to Kelly and now Dunn. The players can take much of the blame for our current predicament followed by the manager(s) and the board.
  11. I do get your point JoeP but Clough was always going to be attracted to Burton and Walsall are flying high and therefore a good challenge. Given the much touted impressive list of applicants we had prior to Kelly's appointment suggests we aren't willing or able to pay the salary the better managers want. So we get a Dickov, a Johnson, a Holden etc... all rookies (like Dunn). Reputationally we are probably known for giving new managers an opportunity, not a bad thing but certainly hasn't worked in our favour during 2015.
  12. Everybody still blaming Dunn then? Of course they are. Not saying he's the saviour at all but the problems at the club started long before he arrived, perhaps Johnson saw it coming? This group of players are individually having poor seasons by their own standards and as a result are not good enough collectively for this league. The balance and chemistry is not working, some out and some in during January may just improve things though.
  13. I thnk Hank answered this question 10 posts earlier. Wrong time to be employing a new manager at this point, think who we would get? We have a track record of listing managers available on here who wouldn't even consider coming to BP followed by disappointment at the final appointment followed by a period of getting on his back etc. etc.......
  14. This is what I'm getting at. Fans who are able to make judgements like this based on 90 minutes football every two or three weeks against someone who has been involved in the game all his life, played at the very top of the game and has the benefit of seeing these players every day in training plus has experienced working for a number of top club managers himself. Put like that?
  15. Is anybody else getting bored by the constant Dunn bashing, the same twenty or so posters have said the same about Kelly, Holden, Johnson and Dickov. It's really tedious from people who probably think they reflect 3000 Latics fans. Not a happy clapper but come on, this team needs more support than any team in our recent history, we are more likely to go down than any previous squad in the last 20 years but can still make it with a bit of backing and positivity. Great to hear the team getting clapped off at the weekend. Let's stick with it as we always do.
  16. He has been consistent but consistently ordinary for me, never better than a 7/10 and given he's never really been a favourite I'm surprised a bit by the response here, £75k sound a decent fee to me. Don't forget he hasn't stood out in a team that probably deserves to be in the bottom four. What does that tell us?
  17. Err, perhaps it's the fact that Dunn has PLAYED at a much much higher standard than Kelly did (he's an international don't you know) and has therefore been privy to the coaching methods and styles of numerous top quality coaches. He's learning on the job, granted his style of play is depressing and surprising too but maybe that's the only way he feels he can set up with this group. I'm happy to give him a window and see what happens. Not sure we are an attractive club just now for the calibre of replacement that some think we should get (now that IS an area where some fans are deluding themselves).
  18. Think this point makes it clear that the players need to take a good look at themselves, not always the managers fault surely? Can anyone claim that these players have not been motivated or 'man managed' properly by all four?
  19. I think yarddog is our very own Lady C.
  20. That side today was pretty close to what a lot of fans were wanting! Still not good enough. Says more about the lack of talent and inability to play for each other than the management team perhaps - they need to have a very effective window in January. Murphy back and up top with Cassidy worth a try?
  21. Every player that comes in says 'good set of lads', 'work hard in training, 'atmosphere is good' etc. Probably just the usual media training stuff but I really would like to believe it.
  22. Fuller, Philliskirk, Higden, Fulton all ineffective today. Yeates and Mills showed signs of making something happen but not quite on it. Cassidy and Wellens introduced but with no real impact, both will need games. Defence so so, Crewe didn't really create much either but still looked more threatening than we did. As usual only Kelly comes out with any credit, we're in trouble if he goes anywhere in January. Can't fault Dunn for trying different formations even to the extent of keeping three up for their corners! When do you ever see that? Fans were a bit pathetic at the end, anybody else think that that will only drain yet more confidence from the squad? Would I try any harder just because someone was shouting abuse at me? Doubt it. No wonder players go missing. Demoralising afternoon.
  23. To be fair they have both played well below par this season too. Can't blame Dunn for loss of form. This group surprisingly seem to lack fight, passion and probably more telling, ability. It's a poor squad, no point deceiving ourselves, if these players do not play at their best then they are league two standard which is a real danger. Still think we'll stay up though.
  24. Wellens, Kelly and a (back in form) Jones ought to be a very strong combination in this league surely.
