  1. Very good keeper , best one we have since Gary Kelly , Lee Grant was also good when he was on loan here.
  2. We made mighty heavy weather of that. An hour against a lower division team. They can go back with their heads held high ,played very well. Cisak kept it at 0-0 first half , their keeper a spectator. No need to be a rocket scientist to see what was missing with the extra man , no-one could fill Simpsons boots & deliver quality balls & create shooting chances. But job done.
  3. We are not rivals to them at this time & clearly the managers & clubs have a good relationship. If Huddy don't rate him at this level , they will want shut before going up to a higher level as seems likely. Best Christmas present we will get if Simpson signs back ...top player.
  4. They were whupped at weekend , manager changing his team tonight according to thier site , diesn't sound happy ....and must be looking forward to a cold windy Bounday Park on a December night like a hole in the head me thinks.
  5. Dead ball delivery streets ahead of Liddle. Let's see how we look in our home games and against Charlton without him(tonight shouldn't matter , lower division team ,who were whupped at weekend). I have a feeling we will look a lot more huff & puff & one dimensional without Simpson , player of the season so far.
  6. Nothing to do with how he was struggling when last seen in the first team then ?
  7. That was disappointingly predicatable. Wednesday have won without ever playing well, a bit of noise second half & surprise , surprise the back 4 fall apart...can't wait to see them handle the Kop. Cisak got little help from them imo. To go behind when switching centre backs is Sunday afternoon stuff, never should you be more alert of danger. Scapuzzi , future Premier league player ?? not on that he isn't. Parker was poor from minute 1 to going off imo. Most worrying , Simpson has a quiet game & ideas dry up badly .
  8. It had better not be I haven't wanted a loan player to sign up as much since Neil Adams. Very skillful & his delivery is something we have not had for many a year. Let's hope he is back on Jan 1 , ready for Anfield & Wembley.
  9. Best year for many , but ..... pinch me season dream on. League Cup record 6 goals in a game Frankie Bunn still stands. Victory over league champions Arsenal 3-1 Victory over League Leaders Aston Villa 3-0 Victory over Southampton after 93rd minute draw at The Dell 6-0 League Cup Semi Final Win 3 Fa Cup 5th Round Games with Everton 2 Fa Cup Semis with Man United And a League Cup Final. That was different gravy
  10. The most obvious reason for not subbing first teamers last night is obvious ...is it not ? What if Bradford had clawed a draw . The penalty shoot out is asfter 90 mins , so no way would you bring guys on straight into pens.
  11. He has been given this free role here by the boss and he is revelling it , I would hope he is grateful to Mr Dickov for re-igniting his career. I have little doubt he won't want to give it up easily , it would have to be a very tempting offer to stop him coming back imo. In addition the chance to play at both Wembley & Anfield must be very attractive.
  12. Swindons odds are becuase they are playing Barnet , we are playing a higher division team. We will be favs if we make the final against either of them.
  13. Simpson the best crosser of a ball here since the incomparable Ricky Holden. Let's hope he fancies playing at Wembley & Anfield.
  14. Both Southern finalists are in Division 2. We marmalied Chesterfield 5-2 the other week & are the highest team left in. No doubt we weill be favourites to win the competition with the bookes now....let's make sure they are right. This must help in attracting the magnificent Robbie Simpson to sign back on in January.
  15. Terrific following from Bradford , top marks to them. Very sluggish first half. Once we got the ball out to Scarpuzzi they were terrified of tacking him near the box. Game should have been over before the second. Another magnificent Simpson cross , the best at the skill this club has had since Ricky Holden imo, finished& with a proper header from Shefki. One more job left to do before Wembley.
  16. Either would be terrific . For younger fans like my daughter this season now has the potential to be best in almost 20 years. For me as someone who went the League Cup Final , to see Oldham in a final at the new Wembley would be preferable. Mind when we played Liverpool at Anfield in our first game in the top flight (Div 1 as it was called) , Anfield for me was and is the best stadium I have visited , atmosphere ,viewing , pitch etc.
  17. His elegant skills were an integral part of the Leeds midfield which won the last ever football League in 1991. RIP Gary
  18. Nope , haven't missed any of them..... thankfully. Here is my tale of woe. We too thought West Ham would beat Notts County so stayed in the Rifle Range till gone kick off. Must have been about 10 or 15 minutes in before we got in the Chaddy. Instead of our usual spot half way , because it was heaving we stayed at the bottom , level with the middle of the goals. What a rubbish place to be as Neil Redfearn took his penalty I was listening for the 4th billion time to the commentary on his goal from Radio Manchester & Piccadilly today....still gives me the shivers.
  19. The Celebration game was surreal ....the queues were massive an hour before kick off. We queued for the Chaddy in the cra park , but I had this feeling that it was going to be full very soon. We walked to the Ricky Road End & could see the hugh crowd already in. Everyone slowly increased their wlaking speed until it was a full on race. Me & the daughter got in with about 30 seconds to spare ,ending up sat near the front & getting a great view of the bizarre first half 5 goal onslaught. Amazed the 4-1 win over champions Plymouth hasn't appeared in this part , it was end to end footy at it's best
  20. I haven't been as keen for a loan player to sign as Simpson since the superb Neil Adams was on loan from Everton. I have little doubt we will look very one dimensional without him , in this free role has (credit to Wes , Adeyemi & Furman that he can undertake it) he is causing havoc & he is banging in more assists than anyone I can recall since Ricky Holden.
  21. If only Mr Berners Lee has made the Internet available to us by 1989 , we could have had a goal thread almost every week.
  22. If only Mr Berners Lee has made the Internet available to us by 1989 , we could have had a goal thread almost every week.
  23. Looked the best footballer in the team by a country mile imo , but as for delivering
  24. When Simpson goes back I am going to weep like a baby ....& if he isn't back for New Years Day
  25. Sorry ,bottom of the menu page ,results for the whole season 85/6.
