  1. We are where our support suggests we should be.
  2. Whatever! LJ knows the budget. I expect us to flirt with the play offs and end up, due to size of squad, in about 10th place. In other words I expect us to turn 5 of the losses into wins and I hope they are at home. Year two top six. I know people still don't want to let themselves believe it but we have here the best manager since Royle. ps If we win one of the remaining fixtures, as I expect, he has already got this squad ("sob") playing to a better standard than that.
  3. It is a matter of FACT that on current form - 14 points from 8 games - we would be in a play off place.
  4. If he stays he will have to be fitter and more willing to work. Has been a wonderful luxury player to watch but...... Why if he is so good have we struggled?
  5. The solution must be to offer the £10 ticket when bought with an adult season ticket and to charges £40 to £80 for a ticket bought by a young individual. In other words a family ticket. If this was the nail in the coffin of the £10 unaccompanied ticket then so be it because an invasion during the game is not acceptable. Is it a health a safety conundrum where you can't have a barrier high enough to stop the invasion so putting the players and ref at risk because you have to be able to evacuate the stand onto the pitch?
  6. It is possible that Scunthorpe in considering themselves 'relegated' will play with more freedom and find themselves winning on Saturday. It is also possible that Swindon will secure their play-off place on Saturday and then field a weakened team against Scunthorpe who could again surprise themselves and win. So no we are not safe. It is in our hands as 1 point from 9 is all we need. So we need a 'result' on Saturday. Then you can run on the pitch, drink yourself silly or relax at last.
  7. The good thing about football is TV. The bad thing about football is the TV. Football now caters for fans whereas it used to rely on the supporters.
  8. I support Oldham. If there was a merger I wouldn't support the merged team. There would be less support for a merged team than there is for Oldham. I would probably start supporting my local team which is Mossley. The idea goes beyond stupidity!
  9. It is insulting to suggest that he is either a cheap option or a gamble. 11 points from 7 games is not quite but nearly a playoff result, it is far better than PD for a young manager who inherited - well you know what he inherited. With the possible exception of Dowie we have not had a decent manager since Royle. I hope Johnson is our next 'Royle' and can get us back into the Championship (Premiership football is much more difficult to achieve now). I think he can and he will if we can keep him long enough.
  10. He can pass the ball! Could build a team around the performance he gave tonight. Could be fitter but that other manager wasted his talent.
  11. Our best player was on the pitch. Croft. Baxter has not done so well and doesn't put in the work that our team, yes all of them, did tonight. The best result of the season bar none.
  12. Can't help thinking we would have lost tonight if the Baxter that doesn't track back was playing. To have a midfield player who can find and make passes is something we have missed all season - the Mellor from the end of last season was back and his free kick lead to the corner which gave Smith the chance to score against a team that was on the rack. The team, at last, fought and defended and that was why we won - a clean sheet! Simpson had a better game and although Barnard spent too much time moaning rather than getting on with it he was having to repeatedly run the length of the pitch so I can forgive him his poor display as a striker
  13. First full game in a winning team with one goal saving challenge. We scored one and kept out everything that a better and fitter team threw at us. What more do you negative moaners want?
  14. It is the same old problem we have had all season. We have yet to beat a team that is in the top 12 when we play them. My best hope for Tuesday is that we get a point. My second best hope is that we lose by the odd goal. Yeovil, Leyton Orient and Crawley are all in the top 12. Can we get a draw against one of them? Can we win at Shrewsbury? The point Scunthorpe got against Walsall is massive for both of us as I do expect them to get all three points Tuesday. I don't see them winning another game but if they do we have a problem!
  15. Well lets hope Micah is worth something and they do sell him! Technically it looks like Corney owns the football club but in fact the £6m debt means B and G do. In addition as they own the stadium they are the ones that would have to approve any sale should Simon decide at any time that he has had enough. I can't see that happening even if we do go down because we now have a proper Manager in Lee Johnson.
  16. And where is the credit for Lee Johnson!
  17. They didn't have a clue. Allocated too few tickets and had no contingency plan. With their current home support we should have had half the stadium. Didn't enforce sitting in an all seater stand. It is one thing to turn a blind eye to people standing in their seats but to allow people to stand on gangways and stairs which is against health and safety was madness.
  18. I'm sure we have done all this before and decided that Latics had sold their right to any share of future transfer fees>
  19. I would either give the arm band to someone that leads by example (Croft) or give it to someone who will react and improve their game (Tarkowski). It could be LJ thought it might do Simpson, a confidence player (or is that trickster), some good. You could give it to Smith if you decided to play him as the brightest one out there. HOWEVER the best person to wear it would have been Furman. Met some Doncaster supporters on their way back from Crewe who said he was playing very well for them - it could be he is being used in the right way something I'm sure LJ would have done.
  20. Could use vouchers F and G for Yeovil and Crawley to let a friend in for £5 - once in any over spill could be walked to where there is space or am I dreaming.
  21. Just like to say how well Furman played for Doncaster today!
  22. The goal on 88 was massive for Scunthorpe as without it they could have cracked! Where are we going to get another point from let alone a win?
  23. Croft was my MOM. He wanted it and defended and attacked with effort. Problem goal scoring but who else looked like getting a goal until Smith and Millar arrived. Two very poor teams but Smith and Millar made the difference. Is that a wonderful substitution or the wrong starting 11?
