  1. Arn't you all forgetting something? Don't we all agree that it has not been the players we have but the way they have been used? The club should have said NO! It is Corney who has let him go. At times he has been the only player on the pitch with any energy. So no Furman and Smith out until 30th at the earliest. Why will they sign another player when they already signed his replacement in Paul Murray? Fills you with confidence.
  2. The players have been 'coached' to their current level and Furman is no different. If he goes it rather looks like the towel has been thrown in.
  3. Corney is behaving somewhat like Tarky at the moment. He is taking far too much time on the ball and we all know what happens next. I want, we need, a new manager. It is probably too late now. Yes we won three league games but yes the same old same old was on show against Sheffield Utd and Tranmere. The failure to beat anyone in the top 12 when we play them means we have to win 5 out of the 7 games we have against the dross like us. No chance!
  4. It is fair to say that had things gone to plan we would not be where we are now. We would have the new stadium. We would have more support and we would have made a decent stab at getting into the Championship. We are where we are because of the failure of governments to control the financial industry worldwide. Corney has done well to keep it all together and we are moving slowly towards a new stand. It must be said that the people of Oldham are more responsible for the position we find ourselves in because support has seeped away but they too are suffering from the failure of governments to control the financial industry worldwide. In his own words Corney will have failed if we are relegated as I now expect. Apparently he will then leave and we will really be in the :censored:! His biggest mistake, if we are relegated, will prove to be the failure to appoint a new manager.
  5. Already too late! Tuesday is a must win and that is down to TP.
  6. Vital to get the points on the board now. Playing a relegated team that has nothing to lose, no nerves and players who want to show how good they are and get out is no good thing.
  7. The Youth set up will become more important simply to provide our own players. Any taken by the Prem teams who are a success will give us significant compensation as they play more games. There will also be those who are taken, given experience and then become available again. We need to build a team not of premiership players but of good league 1 standard to keep us in and allow us to move on from this division - or whichever we are in. Emergency loans are not necessarily a good thing as they encourage a short term view with money being put to one side (must be with the fair play cap). Once these go the full budget will be available and clubs will be encouraged to build a team.
  8. This is exactly why Smith scored 4 in 3 against Liverpool and Everton. These premiership teams are all trying to play like Spain and Barcelona. In our division Smith is less effective because he meets the journeymen defenders who are prepared to take on aggressive tall strikers. So I agree he could be a plan B and doubtless will be going somewhere on much higher wages to do just that.
  9. It depends if you see it as a challenge or not. Red card if when going for the ball you see your opponent, raise your leg and kick him on the upper arm or chest. Not even a foul if you are running after the ball and in attempting to control it you raise your foot and the defender seeing the danger should you do so runs into your foot. My impression was that Nanni was trying to control the ball rather than challenging for it and in that sense intent is all important. But what do I know. I thought we should have had two penalties and that Simpson was going for a 50 50 ball (main stand view).
  10. Great fun! A much better test is your gut reaction. I was asked last night out of the blue after a few pints if we would stay up. My answer was "No". My excuse is that I very despondent after our return to Dickov tactics and league form on Saturday. I'll be going to Leyton Orient because we might just be able to stay up if we win that one - could be a very long way home!
  11. Might be completely wrong but isn't the new stand going to become the main entrance to the ground? Does it not therefore follow that the offices are for the club and the match hospitality and director's box will be in the new stand. A couple of porta cabins for changing rooms and the main stand could be pulled down to save on running costs with cameras placed on scaffolding as now. Wouldn't surprise me because with the new stand capacity is not a problem.
  12. We don't want anyone who has no coaching experience. Surely Fergy will have told Scholes he should coach before managing.
  13. A draw as it removes a point. However it is in our own hands, just have to find two wins this month. The point we threw away yesterday might not come to haunt us if we can then find three wins from the first four games in April.
  14. Don't agree, I usually do, but it was the wrong tactics. We need goals and Baxter doesn't seem able to play up front with Smith. It was much better when we removed Wes and Baxter dropped back so we had two up front with Baxter better able to control things - to be a forward looking midfield player.
  15. I wonder if anyone out there said anything to him like "man on" or do they all just watch the comedy of errors unfold.
  16. The bantamweight against a welterweight but did very well after a shaky start. The lad is improving - good on him!
  17. Has he scored since we gave him the contract in January? Not another Simpson I hope. Initially played in wrong position today - has to be Wes or Furman plus Baxter with two up front.
  18. BUT we lost the game by giving away two goals. Can't blame the ref for that.
  19. So we drop a player and lose 2 0 instead of 1 0 - does it matter? Cisak just looked like he needed a run of games however I do prefer Bouzanis. The internal matter could be that Bouzanis has told them he is going so why not play Cisak.
  20. Wrong tactics, Baxter should not play as our second striker, but should have ended 0 0 which would have been a good result. The ref was poor but we gave them the two goals.
  21. Hate to be thick but why is it that Jose Baxter Baby is not included in the ones that are going to stay given that he has two years to run on his contract? Or is it that the contract says if someone wants you you can go?
  22. Draw would be good. I'd love to have their problem of only being 2nd!
  23. Wrong selection Tuesday but will do well against league 1 so we do need him. Every team needs options and with Smith and Iwelump we have then. Sometimes the raw aggression of Smith is what you need. Can't understand why Smith didn't start Tuesday - always thought he would score against them but why go back to putting him on when we are behind. Someone explain to me why Iwelump was the right option against Everton! Please!!
  24. Here we go again. Montano is now fit and he is our player and he is going to sit on the bench if Obita stays.
