  1. I have to admit to being a little unclear as to what the real problem is. Scholes holds ten percent of the shares in Salford, and as a result cannot become an employee of Oldham without lengthy consultation and approval from EFL. Butt holds ten percent of the shares in Salford, but can be an employee of Man U, and from what little research l've been able to conduct, did not have to go through the process that is being demanded of Scholes, or if he did it was a matter of days. Can't imagine why the difference.
  2. I'm beginning to wonder if Scholes has what it takes, intelligence wise, to become a successful manager. After all you have to have the ability to plan in advance, adapt plans at short / no notice, and to be able to think on your feet in an evolving situation. So : (1) l want to manage a football team, other than the one l have a financial interest in (2) l have a pound or two in the bank, so can afford access to very switched on legal and accountancy advice, who will have the requirements / procedures nailed down for me (3) In view of above, l could do a certain amount of forward planning / approach work so that in the event of a position being offered to me that l wanted to take, l could immediately put in motion whatever was needed to meet FA (or whoever) criteria - this should have been worked out months ago or (4 )I sit on my hands and the whole requirement comes as a complete surprise to me, when offered a position ( which to be honest, looks like the most likely).
  3. As l started watching them in 1952, l can go along with the above statement.
  4. All this seems to suggest that we may be nudging ever closer to the following scenario : (1) come 16.00 ish this afternoon, big Scholes announcement with four or five new signings stood behind management all sporting blue shirts, or (2) absolute silence on the manager front, denoting end of the Scholes saga, and if we are really lucky, or unlucky depending on your point of view, a couple of French lads standing there, wondering which suburb of Paris Oldham is.
  5. My only concern with all this playing experience is fine, but Bobby Moore and Bobby Charlton to name but two didn't cut it as managers. In other words it's a gamble, he could turn out to be the next Eddie Howe, but then he might not.
  6. Anybody else find it totally depressing to wake up every morning go on line and see a whole list of signings for every other club in our league, bar us, apart from the french midfielder and a chef !
  7. Nicky Ajose, on loan to Mansfield from Charlton. Might very well have done a job for us.
  8. Guy called Wanker, ex Huddersfield boss, is looking for a job !
  9. Did anyone see any of the managerial suspects in the Directors Box yesterday ?
  10. This manager thing, really does seem like a bit of a knee jerk reaction, not planned for event. The sacking after the 6 - o thumbing, sounds like an " l"ve been waiting for an excuse to bin him, now l"ve got one ". But if that's the case you would have thought that all the replacement groundwork would already have been in place and AL would have identified a very short, shortlist of those he wanted to replace FB with, after all that are dozens of experienced ex managers out there waiting for a job opportunity. So three or four days after the event, in walks new replacement. After all, that's what seems to happen with many other clubs - within four or five days, in walks new man. That's clearly not happened. So, evidence seems to point to this being a spur of the moment jump by AL, of which, of course, he has history. But there again he's a relatively successful business man, and most of that ilk plan ahead for the what if's, especially if one of those " what if"s " is what you are waiting for. So, taking the " l've been waiting" bit from the above, again you would have thought that there might have been a sort of running shortlist already available. But still nothing. I for one thought that the appointment might have been announced on late Friday, giving PW his time in the limelight at Fulham, and no matter what happens on Sunday, new slate come Monday morning. But that's not happening, unless announcement on Sunday morning. Next thought process - with all this talk of a continental type system with Sporting Director and Coach beneath said Sporting Director, and with this on paper at least almost in place, again l am puzzled by why it is taking so long. We've got the SD in situ, and again you would have thought that with an element of forward planning, for there appears to have been such planning with the way the internal structures of the club are being radically changed, l would have expected some EU chappie to have appeared by now. But nothing. My background - l ran my own company with a staff of one hundred and fifty people of thirty odd years. Business is business, no matter what sector, and l just cannot fathom which way our club is actually going in relation to it's future management structure.
  11. OK, so let's look at it sensibly, yes, yes l known that doesn't normally apply to our club, but let's give it a go. Lang - if not back, l assume the double barrelled named French lad fills in Strikers - Surridge maybe there, maybe not - if he is lined up to go to another club after Sunday, would said club be happy ( bearing in mind his ability to become injured at the drop of the hat ) for him to be playing for us. CO'G may very well be injured, Miller gone, Lang might be back might not. Defensive midfield - Lyden gone. At the moment no obvious natural replacement available on the books. Thin, sounds like a definition of obesity in these circumstances.
  12. Apologies if l've missed something / or even lots - but if three of the loan players have gone back to their parent clubs this week, and bearing in mind that it is Thursday evening with no official news remotely relating thereto, does this not leave us with a bit of a hole to fill before Sunday, or whatever the cut off date/time to play at Fulham happens to be ?
  13. Well it's on the OS - look forward to reading many rational and informative responses on here.

  19. Down here in deepest Herefordshire, there's a blue with tears in his eyes.
  20. Makes you want to ask the question - why do we have to go to the Burnley site to find out what is happening. Why no report on ours.
  21. BBC update on Scholes : BBC Sport understands the ex-England international spoke to the club purely in an advisory capacity and has no interest in the managerial vacancy.
  22. BBC also reporting that Scholes has been interviewed.
