  1. *what I imagine it would feel like Dickov back to 4/1 with Grayson favourite again. Perhaps there was nothing in it after all.
  2. Which is what I find so surprising. This is of course only speculation though so this could be an entirely irrelevant conversation! Fine with me. Two and a half year deal, how much will they be willing to stump up?
  3. Two Championship standard players, both playing at Oldham, both under Dickov. Signed by the club without a manager in charge. On the advice of..? Basically what I am asking here is if Blackpool had already approached him prior to today?
  4. http://www.skybet.com/football/specials/manager-specials Make sense with Derbyshire and Wabara moving in that direction? Grayson now at 3/1. It feels strange. I'm pleased that things are changing here. But it almost feels like a girlfriend leaving you for one of your old school mates!
  5. I read something about Phil Brown a few weeks ago among the speculation where it was pointed out that he has taken time away from the game to watch football, study tactics etc. a la Holloway. And there were further points made about his management style that actually had me quite convinced. I trust past me, so wouldn't be wholly opposed to this on a deal until the end of the season. That said I cannot remember where I read this, though I'm sure it was on this board!
  6. Same stuff about players & effort. Had experience with the likes of Moore, young with Dickov/Sheridan etc. 30-40 names bandied around today from "good, great to completely wacky". Young guy with PD, hasn't worked as we wanted. Unsure on the "kind" of manager he wants. Will take time and "think long and hard" and talk to many people in the game.
  7. To be fair if I was Hudds Chairman I'd be throwing every last penny at him. Anybody in the Championship/Lower PL for that matter.
  8. Probability = zero. Bloody hope we make the call anyway.
  9. I agree that he may not be the perfect fit for our system, but that's hardly torn the league up has it? Beggars really cannot afford to be choosers. But we shall see.
  10. Let me add some perspective here: 1996–2000 Walsall 76 (14) 2000–2003 Bolton Wanderers 98 (37) 2003–2004 Middlesbrough 32 (3) 2004–2006 Leeds United 25 (0) 2005 → Stoke City (loan) 11 (0) 2005–2006 → Cardiff City (loan) 17 (5) 2006 → Burnley (loan) 13 (2) 2006–2007 Southend United 2 (0) 2007 Preston North End 14 (1) 2007–2008 Oldham Athletic 9 2000–2001 Gent 21 (11) 2001–2003 Ajax 40 (21) 2003 → Celta Vigo (loan) 8 (4) 2003–2004 Marseille 22 (7) 2004–2006 Roma 8 (0) 2005–2006 → Tottenham Hotspur (loan) 36 (13) 2006–2007 Tottenham Hotspur 12 (1) 2007–2010 Middlesbrough 25 (6) 2009 → Wigan Athletic (loan) 12 (2) 2009–2010 → Zamalek (loan) 15 (1) 2010 → West Ham United (loan) 9 (0) 2010 → Ajax (loan) 5 (2) 2011–2012 Zamalek 3 (2) 2012–2013 Barnsley 1 (0)
  11. Are we really turning our noses up at somebody who has scored goals in top leagues all across Europe?
  12. I've always liked the Crewe set up, the way their players come through. Even their youth recruitment. I seem to recall a lot of my friends attending 'trial days' there. Very cheap to run, and occasionally pick up a gem that hasn't been noticed by the bigger clubs. On the other hand, Crewe are still a L1 team. So it maybe isn't all that much to aspire to? Would always prefer to see a local lad in the team, but I'm undecided.
  13. I live in Scotland too, can normally get ITV AD (which I presume means Audio Described but I haven't noticed any difference) on TiVo 97something. Think it may be available on freeview too, could be wrong.
  14. Argument may be that we will only keep him if we can have him next season as well. I suppose it depends whether or not the board believe we can survive in the league this season without him, and if so, save the cost of his wages. I think he would be an investment though. If his form continues, somebody is bound to come knocking.
  15. At least it's compliant with Dickov's "running through brick walls" requirement. Perhaps it should be used as an initiation ceremony.
  16. Was hoping to travel down from Edinburgh, but there are no trains returning late enough sadly. It's usually one of a handful of games I get to in a year.
  17. Went for Montano, his work rate was phenomenal. I think Grounds would have been my choice were it not for the mistake at the end. I also think Byrne was excellent.
  18. This is the photo Mike Keegan uploaded about 5 mins ago before removing.
  19. That would be a signing and a half. Definitely bring goals.
  20. That's the wrong order. He responded "that's correct" to an earlier tweet.
  21. As far as I see it, a player's behavior off the field & suitability as a role model is something I leave for the manager to worry about. If Hughes will get us 15 & the manager is happy, then sign him.
