  1. Rochdale is your best bet, £11 off-peak day return via Brighouse (not all trains between Manchester and Rochdale stop at Mills Hill). Every hour at 20 past the hour. Otherwise you may end up having to go through Man Vic which takes a little longer.
  2. Probably when listening to Liverpool fans talking about our players in the first half especially, it wasn't the usual patronising 'having a go' or 'working us hard' - I heard genuinely complimentary comments from fans that see top level football on a regular basis including "Oldham's 10 is f'ing quality' and a slightly more articulate "10's first touch and movement has been outstanding" about Simpson, as well as remarks about Furman's passing, M'voto's dominance and even Matty Smith looking threatening. It felt like being on a par with a top Premier League side and was extremely satisfying to be earning genuine respect.
  3. Yes. And Chesterfield, Huddersfield etc. Think I may be able to get a ticket for the L'pool end. Definitely wont be the same though.
  4. In work all day, my sister was in work at 12, went at 9 and told there was no chance she'd get them before 12. Having travelled down regularly from Edinburgh both home and away this season.. gutted.
  5. We took up his loan outside of a transfer window meaning the maximum is 3 months, which surpassed hence we have 16 or so days before we can renew a 'long term loan' as opposed to a 'short term loan'. It is different, but it is a loophole that is closed. You cannot sign a player who has been contracted to another FL club during the same transfer period. If he had been a free agent since the end of August, then I believe we would be able to sign him in accordance with EU and UK employment law, however FL league rules state otherwise. I believe (could very well be wrong) that this does not apply with Scottish clubs, similar to the case that allowed Porter to leave for fook all.
  6. On the plus side, dragging them up from Essex on a Tuesday night in Feb you've really gotta fancy us for it?
  7. I agree, Furman, Wes and KL are priorities. Taylor will be a luxury, but not a necessity. Kuqi will do as he wants so it remains to be seen if we can keep hold! I'm pretty confident we'll be able to get Simmo on a free - I can't imagine he'd be allowed to train with us if Hudds are then expecting a fee, they'll be aware of our financial situation and they seem happy enough with him off their wage bill.
  8. I'll come down from Edinburgh for this, meet a few Irish Liverpool fans I know and head out after the game! Promises to be more exciting than Stevenage and Hartlepool away which are the other games I have pencilled in!
  9. My understanding is basically because it's outside of the transfer/loan window. Even if Huddersfield cancelled his contract today, because he's been at a different FL club during the same transfer period we'd still have to wait until Jan 1st.
  10. Been given permission by Hudds to train with us until January, what great great news this is. Surely a deal to be done on Jan 1st? http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/NewsUpdate/0,,10337~2545228,00.html
  11. Very surprised to see that we've dropped to 16th, albeit 3 points behind 9th place. Charlton away next week though, after Tuesday we need to really dig in and forget about any cup ties until we get to them. League position isn't doing our performances justice but the best way to fix that is to go out and get into a position where it does!
  12. I think'd I'd be very happy with 3 out of 6. 4 would be fantastic though.
  13. They're up aren't they? I watched them last night. It's usually 24hish after the game has finished
  14. Really good film actually, nice to see someone at the club has a sense of humour as well!
  15. I know somebody running a coach from The Jolly Carter early doors, picking up in Chad and getting into Southend with time to visit the markets / pub £25 return, if you're interested I'm sure I could put you in touch? They were short on numbers and needed a few more to make it viable but I presume it's still going.
  16. But he was crap! I wouldn't imagine Bouzanis would be travelling with the squad and still be trialling mid-season if he wasn't good enough.
  17. With the squad on a non-contract according to his twitter, though seems desperate to earn a contract. His attitude seems to fit in with what Dickov looks for and he's already sharing banter with the lads so it looks promising for him.
  18. Definitely good news that we're starting these discussions now, would be nice to see some movement on Furman, Shefki and Wes as well. Perhaps that report on BBC about Taylor has kicked us into life? http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/NewsUpdate/0,,10337~2526470,00.html --edit: link added--
  19. Strange club Plymouth, I'm sure they do have massive potential. Lovely stadium and arguably pickings over a large part of two counties (admittedly Devon & Cornwall) to attract a fanbase. With a bit of investment and some good PR I imagine they have more scope than we would with two of Europe's biggest clubs within the same metropolitan area.
  20. Not so sure myself, I expect he'd be the kind of character to honour his contract - For Dickov if anybody. But come the end of the season, who knows.
  21. Worth a watch, nothing too interesting said although apparently Kuqi is the worst trainer!
  22. I could be wrong, but aren't Scapuzzi & Mancini only here on one month loan deals?
  23. Agreed. It is quite a worry that we could finish the season and have no squad left.
