  1. I thought Boreham Wood last week was bad but this is dire. Gateshead are so much better than us
  2. Sutton is getting roasted. We should be behind already.
  3. Well, if he's Travelling to us I reckon he Wilbury chances that come his way.
  4. @yarddog73 doesn't need me to defend him, but do we think his use of the word "plebs" may have been ironic, maybe? Just asking!
  5. I'm a bit surprised that people are tying themselves in knots over a pretty straightforward poll - we have been debating whether Unsworth should stay/go for some time, and surely @yarddog73 is entitled to ask the question and get a snapshot of fans' opinion? If you don't like the question you don't have to answer it! I voted no. I think that word "forward" is key in more than one sense. I respect the view that we've hired and fired managers too often (clearly) and I want stability, but not at any price. You have to look forward (is he up to the job) at some point and ignore the past (too many manager changes): if he can't cut it then we have to act, surely. I don't want to see him sacked, unemployment is miserable, but sadly football management is a brutal business. We have to be challenging at the top, not the bottom, of this league.
  6. You will normally get good odds on golf tournaments @BP1960, because any pro in the top 100 can win a major if he strings together 4 good days, and there have been a number of rookie winners in the majors in recent years. My betting record on the gee-gees isn't great, but when Bubba Watson won his first Masters in 2012 I put my anorak on before the tournament started and checked out the PGA tour stats for 20 or so players from the start of that year. Watson was in good form and Paddy Power had him at 28/1 to win the Masters, with E/W betting down to (I think) 7th or 8th place. It seemed a no brainer and of course the fact that he won was a bonus. I backed him and that was the start of my PP and later bet365 account. Just see who is coming into a tournament in form and/or with a good record at that particular course and you should find pretty good odds, it's just a reflection of how competitive pro golf is.
  7. Because he's managing a team that is already in the EFL and is four points off the top, maybe?
  8. Really good and thoughtful post. I don't think anybody deep down (bar the idiots who sing your football is shit - how vile and counterproductive is that) wants Unsworth to fail, or wishes him ill. But there comes a point where you seriously have to question whether it's working and I am starting to think we are at that point. Is it really fair on him, his family, the squad, the board and the fans to keep hoping he'll turn it around? You have to question whether he's good enough - it's a brutal business, football management, and if he isn't, then the decent thing to do is to part ways. Yes, he was unlucky today, but sadly for some people that's the way the dice can roll. I admire the board/owners for being decent people, and what they have done and are doing for this club is wonderful. My fear is that precisely because they are fair and good people, they will keep hoping that DU will turn this round. I am not at all sure that he will. The squad looks completely devoid of confidence (might explain the sitters missed today) and that is a very bad situation to e in.
  9. You've rightly pointed out for some time now that if he was delivering wins, fans would put up with his style of football. I'd even speculate, because we all know what confidence can do for players and a team, that the performances would get better to watch anyway if the team could only string some wins together. It feels like we are a million miles from that though. We've scored one goal in the last three games, and that was partly thanks to a goalkeeping error. I can't believe Frank & co will allow this to continue for much longer.
  10. I make that 18 yellows and 2 red cards from 6 league games. I know refs are under orders to crack down on time wasting, dissent etc. and I've no great faith in their ability or common sense at NL level. But I'm starting to wonder if what on paper looks like a pretty poor disciplinary record is a sign of a deeper malaise within the squad. I certainly don't blame Unsworth for either of the red cards, but it's one more indication that all is far from well.
  11. Attendance down 10% on the Aldershot game (ignoring Halifax as they probably brought quite a few). The board must have noticed.
  12. Down to 20th as it stands, thanks to Oxford City walloping Boreham Wood. We really are in the mire.
  13. That's an altogether different argument though. Given that he is at the club, and (for some) deserved a starting place I don't see how Unsworth is to blame for picking him or for not substituting him after 1 minute (I appreciate it wasn't your post that made that point).
  14. Be serious. Hooking a player after 1 minute? And how the hell is it Unsworth's fault if the player can't stay on the right side of the laws of the game?
  15. 2 bookings already. Wish we could score as easily. Fondop's was in the first minute!
  16. There's a flaw in your thinking though - maybe Frank is rowing the Atlantic to get away from Unsworth and Latics!
  17. Thinking about it, by "nothing wrong with the video", I should have said, except for the performance/result!!
  18. Change your YouTube settings to HD. Nothing wrong with the video then.
