  1. Greatly overrated, the PowerPoint King. We really do not need him back.
  2. I didn’t see Frank barracked at Boreham Wood? Maybe you’re referring to the Chesterfield game. Frank came and sat in the stand where we were and got lots of applause from Latics fans, which was good to see.
  3. That post qualifies you for a Felucca Award. You’re still in de Nile.
  4. Strange game. The only excitement in the first half was the thunder and lightning. I couldn’t understand why they watered the pitch at h/t after the monsoon. Second half, we had a spell either side of the hour mark where we looked good, kept possession and there was actually some passion and attacking intent. Going just by chances created, BW probably should have won, and the save that Hudson tipped over the bar was brilliant. But then again we could have won it at the death, how the ball hit the underside of the bar and bounced out was a mystery. It’s difficult to accuse Unsworth of negative football given that he played two up top, certainly second half with Fondop and Norwood (who had an off day I thought). However, overall we seem lacking in confidence and drive and are poor at retaining possession unless it’s to go sideways or backwards. Hopefully when the injured players come back that will improve. I really don’t see the point of the insults aimed at Unsworth, how does it motivate the players? Last point - how embarrassing was the BW keeper? Gets a free kick at the end and dribbles it backwards to the far corner of his box, playing for a draw when he’s the home keeper!
  5. I'm not sure I've ever seen us win a league match when I've been with my daughter (to be fair, she was there when we KO'd Fulham in the FA Cup, and when we won 5-1 at Dorking last season, though I missed that one). Her first ever match was a 4-4 draw with Bristol Rovers, Sep 1997. She was 6 years old and when we went 3-0 up after 24 minutes said to me, is it always like this...... Last match we both attended was the 2-1 home defeat to Carlisle in March 2022 when we missed that bloody penalty and didn't come out for the second half, the beginning of the end. Think I'd better apologise too for jinxing
  6. I’m going with my daughter. Triumph of hope over experience or whatever the expression is !
  7. I wouldn't agree on that actually. Might sound like splitting hairs, but Chesterfield not playing well - which they didn't, particularly - is surely more a reflection of the fact that there are no outstanding teams in this league. That in turn makes our failure to take the game to them and try to impose ourselves all the more frustrating. Where I do agree with you is that, yes, we were outstandingly lucky to scrape a 96th minute equaliser due to our complete inability to create any worthwhile attacking moves at all, other than Norwood's attempt to chip the keeper from outside the box - even that wasn't a case of getting men in their box.
  8. I know what you are saying but when hooliganism was rife in the 70s - far worse than today - I went to pretty well every home game and lots of aways and it wasn't difficult to avoid trouble. You just needed to be a bit street wise and work out where to stand and if necessary move about. People who looked for trouble usually found it and those who spotted it and weren't interested could usually avoid it,
  9. How can you possibly blame Chesterfield for the disgraceful behaviour of our fans? That’s ridiculous. The Latics fans who didn’t go on the pitch, and the club, will now be punished for the moronic behaviour of a minority. I don’t care what age they are, everybody knows that pitch invasions are not allowed.
  10. For a player of his reputation, albeit maybe past his best, I’d say he should have scored it. I was amazed he didn’t.
  11. I don’t look to bash the manager at every turn. Nothing would please me more than for him to lead a successful team. But for two games in a row he has ignored a poor overall performance and chosen instead to lay into the refereeing, contrary to the FA call for more respect to be shown to officials. He doesn’t need to single out individuals for criticism - he can still admit the team as a whole played badly. The second half, especially after going a goal down, was as bad as anything I’ve seen in recent times.
  12. Not really. Grigg should have taken the shot first time, took an extra touch and we got lucky with the run of the ball.
  13. He received a cross from the right and was in the box with only Hudson to beat. The chance had goal written all over it but Grigg decided to take an extra touch rather than shooting and then we got the run of the ball. Looked easier than Norwood’s chance to me. I don’t know about the board becoming toxic - I’d reserve that adjective for the idiots who came on to the pitch and who seemed to be having a moan at Frank.
  14. Seriously? Grigg missed an absolute sitter at the end of a move where they carved us open. Should have been 2-0 and game over.
  15. Sod all, apart from the sitter Grigg missed to make it 2-0 and game over. We were very very poor today and got out of jail - not that a draw against a fairly average Chesterfield team is anything to get excited about. I was ashamed of our performance today and ashamed of the halfwits who invaded the pitch.
  16. One of the most shameful post-match interviews I've seen from any manager, and that's saying something. He expects Chesterfield to win the league - thanks, Dave. He didn't really see the pitch invasion. He thinks we got the draw that we deserved. He whinges about referees again - we know they're not the best, get on with it.
  17. The lengths people will go to to avoid watching a Dave defensive master class.
  18. Embarrassing isn’t he. Not so much Defensive Dave as Delusional Dave. Comes across like a pub manager of what for a lot of the second half played like a pub team. We will cop it for that moronic pitch invasion. The lout who pushed over the Chesterfield keeper should be banned for life and thrown in prison as well.
  19. Whether it was a foul or not, and the commentators think it was, no excuse for the poor defending at the corner. We seem to have got worse since the goal. It’s abysmal.
  20. Imagine realising your dream of becoming a pro footballer and ending up being coached by Defensive Dave. I refuse to believe these players are as bad as that first half suggested. I have to conclude that it’s the coaching that’s making them so.
