  1. Because he's managing a team that is already in the EFL and is four points off the top, maybe?
  2. Really good and thoughtful post. I don't think anybody deep down (bar the idiots who sing your football is shit - how vile and counterproductive is that) wants Unsworth to fail, or wishes him ill. But there comes a point where you seriously have to question whether it's working and I am starting to think we are at that point. Is it really fair on him, his family, the squad, the board and the fans to keep hoping he'll turn it around? You have to question whether he's good enough - it's a brutal business, football management, and if he isn't, then the decent thing to do is to part ways. Yes, he was unlucky today, but sadly for some people that's the way the dice can roll. I admire the board/owners for being decent people, and what they have done and are doing for this club is wonderful. My fear is that precisely because they are fair and good people, they will keep hoping that DU will turn this round. I am not at all sure that he will. The squad looks completely devoid of confidence (might explain the sitters missed today) and that is a very bad situation to e in.
  3. You've rightly pointed out for some time now that if he was delivering wins, fans would put up with his style of football. I'd even speculate, because we all know what confidence can do for players and a team, that the performances would get better to watch anyway if the team could only string some wins together. It feels like we are a million miles from that though. We've scored one goal in the last three games, and that was partly thanks to a goalkeeping error. I can't believe Frank & co will allow this to continue for much longer.
  4. I make that 18 yellows and 2 red cards from 6 league games. I know refs are under orders to crack down on time wasting, dissent etc. and I've no great faith in their ability or common sense at NL level. But I'm starting to wonder if what on paper looks like a pretty poor disciplinary record is a sign of a deeper malaise within the squad. I certainly don't blame Unsworth for either of the red cards, but it's one more indication that all is far from well.
  5. Attendance down 10% on the Aldershot game (ignoring Halifax as they probably brought quite a few). The board must have noticed.
  6. Down to 20th as it stands, thanks to Oxford City walloping Boreham Wood. We really are in the mire.
  7. That's an altogether different argument though. Given that he is at the club, and (for some) deserved a starting place I don't see how Unsworth is to blame for picking him or for not substituting him after 1 minute (I appreciate it wasn't your post that made that point).
  8. Be serious. Hooking a player after 1 minute? And how the hell is it Unsworth's fault if the player can't stay on the right side of the laws of the game?
  9. 2 bookings already. Wish we could score as easily. Fondop's was in the first minute!
  10. There's a flaw in your thinking though - maybe Frank is rowing the Atlantic to get away from Unsworth and Latics!
  11. Thinking about it, by "nothing wrong with the video", I should have said, except for the performance/result!!
  12. Change your YouTube settings to HD. Nothing wrong with the video then.
  13. Greatly overrated, the PowerPoint King. We really do not need him back.
  14. I didn’t see Frank barracked at Boreham Wood? Maybe you’re referring to the Chesterfield game. Frank came and sat in the stand where we were and got lots of applause from Latics fans, which was good to see.
  15. That post qualifies you for a Felucca Award. You’re still in de Nile.
  16. Strange game. The only excitement in the first half was the thunder and lightning. I couldn’t understand why they watered the pitch at h/t after the monsoon. Second half, we had a spell either side of the hour mark where we looked good, kept possession and there was actually some passion and attacking intent. Going just by chances created, BW probably should have won, and the save that Hudson tipped over the bar was brilliant. But then again we could have won it at the death, how the ball hit the underside of the bar and bounced out was a mystery. It’s difficult to accuse Unsworth of negative football given that he played two up top, certainly second half with Fondop and Norwood (who had an off day I thought). However, overall we seem lacking in confidence and drive and are poor at retaining possession unless it’s to go sideways or backwards. Hopefully when the injured players come back that will improve. I really don’t see the point of the insults aimed at Unsworth, how does it motivate the players? Last point - how embarrassing was the BW keeper? Gets a free kick at the end and dribbles it backwards to the far corner of his box, playing for a draw when he’s the home keeper!
  17. I'm not sure I've ever seen us win a league match when I've been with my daughter (to be fair, she was there when we KO'd Fulham in the FA Cup, and when we won 5-1 at Dorking last season, though I missed that one). Her first ever match was a 4-4 draw with Bristol Rovers, Sep 1997. She was 6 years old and when we went 3-0 up after 24 minutes said to me, is it always like this...... Last match we both attended was the 2-1 home defeat to Carlisle in March 2022 when we missed that bloody penalty and didn't come out for the second half, the beginning of the end. Think I'd better apologise too for jinxing
  18. I’m going with my daughter. Triumph of hope over experience or whatever the expression is !
