  1. By the same equation they should be pissing this league, and said donkey should be capable of at least getting them in the play offs.
  2. Swindon proved he can do a job, but if he doesn’t get what he wants he sulks.
  3. Hang on. They have had multiple promotions under GN. His appointments have largely done very well for him. Expect Wellens. If your manager has a remit to be in the top 7 at least with the largest budget in the league and he can’t do it, then it’s understandable his job might be on the line. Chelsea are trigger happy and have had great success. Watford are trigger happy and have had a lot of relative success. Stability isn’t the only recipe for success.
  4. I think it’s a mix of who AL can afford, and who ALMO rate- (with Barry chipping in with his ‘contacts’ at other clubs. I genuinely don’t think it’s for the benefit of the team. Otherwise how on earth can you justify not signing a centre half?
  5. Thought he was steady as a player. But yeah, awful manager.
  6. Spot on Andy. I admire Matt and PTB because they don’t give up, and ultimately they want the club to understand how the fans feel so we can move forward. But having a group/s of disgruntled fans doesn’t lead anywhere without some buy in from ALMO, and there is no tangible evidence that they are genuinely interested in doing so. They’re in it for them, not the community.
  7. So I’ve listened Matt, and firstly I thought you came across really well. Thoughtful, balanced, and challenged when and where you could. Karl was more open and honest than I thought, (in part to your style) and left plenty of space to read between the lines without getting himself sacked. I would just ask you this, at the end you said ‘I’m excited about the future’ and I genuinely couldn’t get my head around that. Did you mean it in a ‘without hope what is there’ kinda of way. Or do you really believe the tide is turning? And if so- in what way? Because despite your excellent questioning, it’s blatantly obvious to me that the owners will never ‘come on side’. They are all in it for a vanity project- particularly Mo. Who as sporting director- ‘doesn’t get involved in the academy, he does recruitment and is down at the training ground’ which as we all know means de facto manager. Barry is a bloke who ‘tells some of the weaker ones what to do, and then let’s them take the blame’. Enough said. Then my favourite. . . Board meetings have just recently become more structured where we actually discuss issues, instead of talking about the weather. ‘ I mean what-the-actual-fuck?? Any organisation is about its leadership and it’s true decision makers and ours it’s beyond woeful. For me there is no genuine hope. None. Yes we might win a few games, but we will never, ever, in million years see a promotion under their tenure. It’s far to divisive, shallow, and egotistical for it to ever work. Oh, and Karl- top ten squad my arse.
  8. Yeah, good point. Did he feel he could impose himself around the place under ALMO, probably not. An there’s a good chance that translated to the pitch.
  9. It is hard to extrapolate one players performance from team stats, I get that. One would need to do a deep dive on his personal stats to give a better understanding of his performances, but even then we all have a pair eyes that mitigate that depending on what you see. The experience thing is massive for me. I agree we are crying out for it, but do you think he would provide it? Does he organise and cajole, does he drag the defensive with him. A la Clarke? In the games I saw last season I didn’t see a leader, I saw a guy who was coasting. I’ve said this before, but I don’t think his heart was in the move in the first place. There is no doubt he’s had a great career, but we can’t judge him off what he was, we can only go off his performances whilst with us. And for what we thought we were buying - experience- leadership- nous. He’s been very disappointing IMO. Having said all that, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if he plays well elsewhere. Sometimes moves just don’t work out.
  10. That’s my understanding, but I think the continued fall out/stand off still stems from that. Despite it being ‘resolved’
  11. How can his on pitch merits not be part of the debate Andy?? Because you then go on to say it’s a real a shame that someone of his experience isn’t involved. Well, I presume you mean his experience as a player? Because he’s not being paid to just have around the place. His experience last season was a real let down, because someone of ilk/experience should and could have contributed more than the second worst defensive record IMO. Part of the debate is about getting him back in the side, and all I’m saying is the stats from last season don’t back that argument up. That doesn’t mean I don’t see or agree about the general malaise at the club, and that players being frozen out on semi consistent basis just doesn’t look good.
  12. We had the second worst defensive record in the division last season. Conceding 57. DW Played in 34 of 37 league games. This season we have the worst defensive record in the division. So DW’s inclusion means we’ll go from worst to second worst defence. . all while he is top earner. . don’t know about you Dave, but I want more of a contribution from someone of his ilk than that. The attack last season featured Vera, segbe, and Wilson. We then signed Rowe in Jan, and Dearnley and Mac in the summer. The attack is an upgrade because quite simply it’s completely different (and better) players. Comparing the two is moot.
  13. Oh dear. . I thought we agreed to leave it Andy? No? Ok. Tell me again why you can’t accept another person’s view? You claim you don’t know what ‘influence on games’ means then admit you would have a 38 year old pro in his place. You’re either being deliberately provocative, or you don’t read what you type. 4/5 points is speculation. What isn’t speculation is where we finished with him playing every game. We conceded less with him the side last season, but ultimately we lost a lot of narrow games and took a few hammerings. This year we’ve lost a lot of high scoring games. A 1-0 defeat is the same as 3-2, but it appears you’re expectations have gone so low you’d have in the side to take a 1-0 defeat. You rate him- nice one. I don’t, he’s been a very poor signing.
  14. I said he wouldn’t make a huge difference IMO. You’ve just said yourself 4/5 points - hardly storming up the league is it? Would he get in this side? Yes. Do I think he’s been a good signing, who has given us his best and been value for money. No. Being good enough to play in front of a non league plodder and a young kid on loan is hardly a ringing endorsement for someone of his supposed ability and stature. He coasted through games, and maybe that was enough to get by in this league, but I want more from my top earner. And by way of comparison I would take 38 year old Peter Clarke over DW any day of the week.
  15. I’d take Peter Clarke’s ‘influence on games’ over DW But, fair enough. I think we’ll have to agree to disagree on that one. Good post- fair do’s.
  16. That’s a good point. Comparing our best player (a young loan player) to our highest earner with vast experience. One affected games. The other didn’t.
  17. I’m not playing it down. It does happen to us more than other clubs, and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand how difficult it must be to work for him. But I don’t follow a support group for the treatment of footballers players. I support a football team, and the inner workings of the club and how it’s treats players and staff aren’t my primary concern. In fact, it’s non of my business. I just want to turn up on Saturday and watch us win. There is a difference between perceived nonchalance and an understanding of what one can effect.
  18. Your always a better player out of the side. He played in nearly every game last season in a side that finished in the bottom six. Why does that keep getting forgotten?
  19. You’ve lost me Andy. To me, the common theme is players who won’t do as their told or challenge him. Who is the number of players other than Wheater? I’m only aware of him in the last 12 months. I know there were quite a few in his first year in charge- Gerrard/Byrne/Davies.
