  1. Right now, it feels a bit like the end of the season after Shez’s 1st resurrection....the one where Shez got a job elsewhere and Corney got a pay off. Maybe Richie and Abdallah are both waiting for MK Dons to get back to them...or something else...
  2. Players available??? So 2nd top scorer Davies injured (not fully fit if returns tomorrow), Gerrard playing when clearly still carrying an injury, Miombe (our best player since January) suspended, Bryan (one of the players of the season) out for the season. That's before we talk about others injured like McLaughlin, Wilson and Dummigan. The players available are either missing some huge key players from the season so far or are playing half injured. Beggars belief this needs explaining.
  3. I'm privvy coz I know one of the sponsors who's very good mates with Richie. It was £600 we offered him. He wanted £1000 and got it elsewhere. Can't fault him. Tbh though (and this isn't aimed at you) people slagging off Wellens for his moves as a player in the same breath as their slagging him as a manager (as tho it should be linked) really are a sad set of bellends. IMO, of course.
  4. I've read some nonsense on here but this is the fucking daddy So an incoming manager with 4 games to oversee and who would probably want to gut the side and make many changes would be given the chop after 4 games. Wouldn't like to be in the trenches with you
  5. Correct. In the end. Wasn't the case at first.
  6. Wow...you really are struggling with this lad... Last year, at one point in the season (you keeping up?) we were 8pts off getting out of relegation....(still with me?) and that is what "as close as ever to relegation" is. Not 2pts out of relegation. Your comment is utter bollocks, yes. By the way, April 4th 2017...2pts out of relegation...as close as ever eh League One table after close of play on 04 April 2017 Pos Team Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts 1 Sheffield United 40 24 10 6 76 44 32 82 2 Bolton Wanderers 41 23 10 8 63 34 29 79 3 Fleetwood Town 40 19 12 9 55 37 18 69 4 Bradford City 41 17 18 6 55 39 16 69 5 Scunthorpe United 41 19 10 12 70 51 19 67 6 Southend United 41 18 12 11 63 48 15 66 7 Millwall 41 18 12 11 58 49 9 66 8 Rochdale 41 17 10 14 66 59 7 61 9 Bristol Rovers 41 16 12 13 60 59 1 60 10 Oxford United 40 17 8 15 56 47 9 59 11 Peterborough United 41 16 10 15 57 54 3 58 12 Milton Keynes Dons 41 14 12 15 53 51 2 54 13 AFC Wimbledon 41 13 15 13 52 51 1 54 14 Walsall 40 13 14 13 47 50 -3 53 15 Northampton Town 41 14 9 18 58 64 -6 51 16 Charlton Athletic 41 10 17 14 49 50 -1 47 17 Bury 41 12 10 19 58 69 -11 46 18 Oldham Athletic 41 10 15 16 27 42 -15 45 19 Gillingham 41 11 12 18 53 71 -18 45 20 Port Vale 40 11 12 17 44 62 -18 45 21 Shrewsbury Town 41 11 10 20 42 59 -17 43 22 Swindon Town 41 11 9 21 42 59 -17 42 23 Chesterfield 41 8 10 23 38 66 -28 34 24 Coventry City 40 7 11 22 33 60 -27 32
  7. This time last year???? Who said owt about this time last year. Awwww....you're picking and choosing your dates now. You said as close to relegation as ever. You're talking utter bollocks. Being 8pts adrift like last season would be "being as close to relegation as ever" Check the table...we aren't even in relegation
  8. He is lucky coz AL wanted his own man We were being run very much like a club in administration The defensive record was inherited. Said club under embargo struggled to attract players to resolve said situation. Crap he's getting thrown at him? Some folk want him out of the club. Maybe not you, but there are others. I am very grateful for his efforts so far. More should be.
  9. I said registering, not signing. How many games did they miss in January due to not being able to play them. Was a few. And how many of those were new players? 3 of them were ones Shez brought in and the easiest we could secure having played here for months already. Moimbe is obviously one of AL's lads (see Wellens comments when he Moimbe arrived.) McEleney is the only fresh signing of Wellens (EDIT: Forgot about Benteke, but he is one for the future not for this season). The others have been been mend and make do. Wellens should be being applauded for dragging us through this season not getting the crap thrown at him that he is by folk.
  10. Ok...I'm going to keep banging my head against this brick wall a little while long. You really do make no allowance for the fact he inherited that shambles. Were you at Rotherham at Shez's last game? 5-1 yes? Wilson was a steady Eddie under Shez coz he had Clarke alongside him. I wouldn't have got rid of Clarke (see my comment above about having a few gripes about Wellens myself) but most fans agreed with the decision (I'm sure the topic exists if you want to help your memory) and he genuinely thought he had the Matt Mills deal over the line. Clearly looked a case of one out, one in. Why has it not been addressed effectively? There are lots of perfectly reasonable reasons why a very very young manager has been trying to make the best of a shit situation...you know, like players not being paid properly and being under an embargo until the last minute in January and not being able to register players until the takeover happened. I bet it's well easy to convince players to come to OAFC in that situation, eh
  11. "Got a belting squad of players" - Really? Do all belting squad of players have 1 recognised, experienced CB of which can't get on a pitch at the moment. The squad hasn't had a defence all season. "We’re probably as close as ever to relegation" - Really? No, actually, you're right...as close as ever. Closer than when we were rock bottom last season and 8pts from getting out of the relegation zone. We are closer than that "he certainly doesn’t appear to fully know what he’s doing" - Really? I wonder why that might be? Oh...that's right...coz he's in his managerial nappy.
  12. Glad I've stayed off the messageboards over Easter. I detect a hell of a lot of shit about the manager has been spouted...but massive thumbs up to Smiler for this post. I remember the days when Shez was a young manager and the general consensus was that being a rookie he needed 2 or 3 seasons. Dickov got similar good-will until it ran out for some. Fuck me...this has been one of the most ridiculous seasons starting with having no keeper 24hrs before the opening game and has seen all sorts of shit and curveballs thrown at the management team including having a bog for a training pitch for most of the season. It's a miracle we're not in Bury's position given the start we had and what's happened since. I have the odd gripe here and there over Wellens but any reasonably minded fan would put that down to naivety and the situations we've endured this season. He's finding his feet and doing a decent job while do so. With Adballahs support, next season (provided we keep winning this relegation battle) he will be looking a moving us up to the next level which realistically should be top 10 while nibbling at the playoffs. Sadly, some cunts want Rome built in a day. Let's get back to remembering how we all felt in Shez's 1st season after Ronnie and accept mistakes will happen but that given a chance, progression can too.
  13. Sorry but that's bollocks about Dickov. He'd proven time and time again he could get the vital wins when necessary and if I remember correctly, we wasn't even in the relegation places when he was sacked. Shez with no real experience of managing (bar a caretaker spell) took the side to the playoffs with Moores side. Even Wellens said at a fans forum the following season that Moore never wanted to play like happened in the first full season but that he needed to get rid of one or two players ie. Branston who just wanted to hoof it. We would've been up there as much as it pains some to admit it. Whatever he did at Tranmere has absolutely zero baring on us at all. Nobody has a clue of the ins and outs going on at Tranmere and why it didn't work out there. 14. In Wellens Ifollow interview he said Davies hasn't trained since the Portsmouth game. I assume he might mean someone like McEleney too.
  15. To save fuck around situations like at Blackpool. Walking halfway around the ground to a shitty, short-staffed ticket office when the time is spent better in the pub then roll into the ground with ease.
  16. Yes. Some realise the sun didn’t shine out of LJs arse. And that he had far more (thanks to Dickovs cup run) to spend than Dickov who had very little. Admittedly LJ is a better manager now than he was at ours though.
  17. Have to agree to disagree on that one. He's been a bit like Banks...does a lot of running around. Looks busy which does win some over. Actual effectiveness tho, very little IMO. Hasn't help to push the team forward...merely sideways or backwards. There's a good player in there but only shown it for small spells this season sadly.
  18. I feel that has been down to having to come deep to help out others not doing their jobs. Amount of times he's been in our own half trying to pick a pass...he wants to be further up the pitch doing it IMO.
  19. Agree about the cringeworthy chanting. As for the team, I feel Nazon needs to start. His pace frightens defences. It's something we don't have when he isn't playing and it scared the shit out of Blackburn and Bury (when we actually got the ball to his feet). How we fit him in though is the conundrum. Add to that, this midfield needs to get Byrne the ball in places he can hurt teams. That means Fane and Gardner stepping up to the plate coz they've been way off it lately.
  20. Lee Johnson had a far better budget than most other managers due to reaping the rewards of Dickovs cup exploits & also facing Liverpool again under his watch. Robinson should be bottom. He came with enough experience to do the job and failed miserably. Kelly and Dunn can be only slightly forgiven due to being given a position they shouldn't have been. For what it's worth, here's my list that most probably won't agree with 1. John Sheridan - Legend 2. Ronnie Moore - Did what was asked, both seasons but still upset poor mites. Built a decent side and would've got us up the next season. 3. Paul Dickov - Rookie fed an absolute shit sandwich, undermined constantly, backroom staff sacked trying to make him walk, yet always pulled us away from trouble with important wins when needed. Shit on. 4. Lee Johnson - Marmite manager. Bingo bullshit. Rookie that enjoyed better budget than most others. Nibbled at playoffs on occasion but often tinkered with what worked till it didn't. Ched Evans farce. Yeovil 4-0, MK Scum 7-0 defeats. 5. Dave Penney - 1st manager that IMO had players signed for him by Corney...coincided with a time where several Jewish players were signed (no issue on their religion, I'd say the same if we had an influx of any religion.) Started alright, up in playoff spots in October. Winter hit (5 weeks without a game), injuries bit. 6. Brian Talbot - Experienced but failed miserably with decent budget. Arrived after miracle work from Dowie & Shez after Chris Moore pull out and saw the ship home that season. Went on to produce awful relegation football on decent money. 7. Darren Kelly - Should never had got the job but was a dead man walking from the start. Hindered at every turn. Set up the season around Jake Cassidy who got injured in game 1. End was inevitable before a ball kicked. 8. David Dunn - Utterly clueless rookie. Insisted on playing the worst keeper the club has had in my time. Went about slating players publically constantly. 9. Steve Robinson - Utterly clueless more experienced manager. Little budget but insisted on playing a style of football from the dark ages. We could not score. Not even fluke a goal. For weeks on end. And he went about constantly telling the players they'd be replaced with a cup run. Team was sinking without trace while being "the best team out of possession."
  21. Midweek thumping at Bristol after a shocking Home defeat to Stockport 3 days earlier. It seems people forget about budgets when ranking the managers.
  22. Kept us up? Dowie performed miracles with that decimated team after Chris Moore’s hack job to keep us out of relegation when he left at Xmas. John Sheridan took over as Caretaker (he’d never managed before) and kept us ahead of the drop zone until (experienced) Talbot took over us in 18th place in mid March. He merely steered Dowies ship safely home. Then he got given a bit of free reign to sign players and brought in a huge bag of shit like Deane Crowe and David Lee. Had one of the best budgets TTA gave went to Talbot and he massively blew it. Yes we beat Citeh in a one-off game. The heroes that day were Vernon and Eyres. Not Talbot. THAT Talbot.
