  1. You could have a started a new thread with that one. A thread titled "Things we constantly harp on about"...I found it amusing how for the umpteenth season in a row the "End of season run in" thread diverged into the annual "Latics great escape" thread
  2. It shows up all the bollocks from OAFC over the years about not being able to put away fans in the small section of RRE coz of the police being against it. Was clearly part of the shutting the Chaddy to home fans agenda.
  3. The one club that's surprised me there is Oxford...they've very quietly fallen into the mix. And their final 5 away games look horrendous. There's always a team that sinks down the table into the relegation spots. Fleetwood and Donny have been having a good go at it but I can see them recovering. Not sure about Oxford if they fall any further. Might have a check on their odds for the drop. For the record, I feel we'll be mathematically safe before we go to Spotland. Not counting my chickens...just quietly confident.
  4. You might be right...although the last time we filled the Manchester Road End, we were very uncharacteristically quiet in the 1st half. I think it was nerves of the situation...at half time I was on one coz I was fuming at how quiet we'd been. Had a bit of a barney with a couple of fans (people I know from away coaches etc.) who normally sing but were being quiet. I'd had a few scoops obviously and was desperate for us to raise the roof in such a big game. 2nd half was much better and when Smith scored it all went off. Wall of noise after that. This time though...the atmosphere should be as awesome as it was at Ewood Park.
  5. Its well documented on here that I’ve stuck up for Placide a lot. The past two weeks tho I’ve had to call him out for punching one into his goal and as you’ve rightly commented, getting stuck by motioning one way rendering himself buggered to go the other way. He makes up for it a bit with a great save later on but that FK set the ball rolling for he Alamo. 2pts lost or 1pt gained by him? Not sure. He strikes me as the sort that if its instinct, he’s great. If he has to take a second to think, he’s found wanting. I certainly don’t agree with this strapline (and Richie hasn’t helped with his comments) that a team shoots and they score. It’s often come down to the defence going awol and a close range shot he’s facing that’s costing us. He’s got sold a shitter many a time. From long range, not many go in. Has to better than that FK yesterday tho. And rely more on his instinct that guessing where the shot is going before the things even been hit.
  6. It’s true that the totally needless tackle by Fane left him unable to be as effective in the 2nd half. And it’s easy to see that a lack of games in the tank for Nazon, Moimbe and Pringle has seen the side lose energy and composure doing that final half hour. Slight criticism of Wellens is he should’ve acted a bit sooner to the situation. Even Gardner struggles to be effective for 90mins so the subs were needed a lot sooner than they came. Another lesson learned for our young manager. Overall, it was a cracking point to leave with. We left with much more than most was expecting from the game. Would’ve been more had the ref not kept giving them a free kick every time their player ran full pelt into ours. The FK for their 1st goal was an appalling decision. Although, Johnny has to do better with that goal. He’s stood there & watches it sail right in. Poor. No quarms about the red card tho. Even if he got a slight touch of the ball it was a dangerous lunge and had I no complaints with a card. Moimbe struggled with the pace as the game wore on & Blackburn bombarded his area. With more games, he will be fit enough to perform as well as he was doing but for a full 90 minutes. Lots and lots of positives after today. Must keep it going on Tuesday.
  7. Pretty stupid thing to say that. Considering that those who will beat a manager with any stick they can will be using it to claim he once tried to engineer a move to Bradford. Which is utter bollocks. Have a listen to his presser for the Blackburn game. He's as bemused with the "link" as anyone. Honestly...I've heard some horse-shit rumours before, but this Wellens to Bradford one takes the piss. You couldn't make it up....yet, someone did
  8. Fair play. Like you say, we're not the club to support if that was the case. There are times I've had to drag myself to some games. It's never been coz we've been shit or I expected a loss but more the continual downgrading of the club done by Corney. Hoping this now changes under AL. Closest for me was all but 2 games where I fell ill towards the end of the season. Annoying to miss out by 2. Closest I'll ever come. Too expensive to do it now.
  9. Yeah. Went there with no hope of getting a win and pulled it off. Feeling the same about this Blackburn game.
  10. Just asking this out of curiosity....but does the potential outcome of a game dictate as to whether you would go and watch it? Hoping this is another one of those Leeds away days we enjoyed about 10yrs ago.
  11. Ok smart arse, Byrne arrived a day or two before deadline day. You get the gist Paddy
  12. It's exactly what's happening. Unless like on August 31st, Wellens can do what Shez did and beg for a play or two of his own. And having caught up on this topic....the fact we are offering out Ryan Mac on a free "to free up wages" is extremely fucking alarming. I know AL isn't promising to splash the cash but freeing up the wages of Ryan Mac who can't be on a massive wedge (and is capable if he can stay fit)...this is the sort of stunt Corney would be pulling. But I've got to trust that Simon Corney...he did say he would only sell to someone who could take us further...Further where...??? 8hrs to go...
  13. And what if he has...but the powers that be are more interested in shipping their own players in. Has everyone forgot the last deadline day...where Shez practically had to beg to get the 3 decent signings we got in at the last minute.
  14. His actions since summer suggest his key interest is getting players hes connected with into a football club. It happens to be ours. The worry is that this could be regardless of the consequences. As they say, proof will be in the pudding. Starting with Transfer Deadline Day.
  15. I've been calling this to happen for some time. The team would massively benefit from it IMO. Can't see Wellens doing it though.
  16. You call it rose tinted I call it blinkered. There were several decent passes nobody went for/read/could be arsed going for. On Saturday, have a watch what the intended recipients are doing while Byrne is threading the ball forward (unlike other midfielders.)
  17. Skim-read some of the comments on here...one thing that's got my head shaking is the amount of negatives Byrne is getting. The lad played several decent balls forward on Saturday that others either reacted too late to get onto, didn't read at all or just couldn't be bothered making the run for. Was frustrating to fuck. Then fans moan at Byrne instead of the player who should've been getting onto it. Indeed, the goal came from Byrne feeding Davies. Another almost saw their lad getting a red card in the first half for pulling Davies down. Is it just me that's seeing Byrne do what he did during our better spell, but barely any player getting onto these passes? As others have said, some of these lads appear to be just thick footballers. Meanwhile elsewhere, it was the Pringle-Gardener crab show. Pass ---> pass ----> pass ----> pass ----> pass ---->sometimes backwards pass.....amount of times the two had chance to get close together and try a 1-2 to work through the traffic but never bothered and merrily passed the hot potato sideways. Give me a Byrne all day trying to forward pass over these two crabs. I'll admit though, I want to see more of Pringle. Once he's a few games under his belt, he may start to click.
  18. Is it any different than August and Shez? I think it's a case of "these lads are coming over Richie...they'll be available to play next week!"
  19. There were several times where I felt players were deliberately not passing to Nepu on Saturday. I'll be keeping an eye out for this again on Saturday. When the ball did finally get passed to Nepu, the RRE gave an ironic cheer so I don't think it was just me that noticed something not right.
  20. I don't understand this notion that coz he got the team wrong on Saturday it has changed peoples minds on if he should stay. So he got it wrong...A young manager, devoid of players, scratching around to try and resolve a poor run gave a different system a go and quickly admitted it was wrong by making the subs he did. If we were in Burys position I'd be understanding of peoples complaints, but Wellens inherited this situation. There's plenty of time to turn this. Let's also not forget, if Dummigan does his job properly for both goals, then we potentially win that game 1-0 on Saturday. My biggest issue is we keep playing a lad who is costing us week in, week out as he can't head a ball, tackle players running at him or stop goals coming from his area all season. He shits himself a bit like Paul Black used to on the left. But then...who else is there to play??? And that most certainly isn't Wellens' fault. Rumour has it that 2 new FB's from AL's contacts are about to arrive. Fingers crossed they're half decent coz both Wellens and the team are screwed if not. If we are apportioning blame to the predicament we currently face, in my opinion, Wellens is at about 20% at the moment.
  21. Considering the endless shit decisions Corney has made over the years and Rochdale are a solvent club on less crowds that get decent monies for their players...I do blame him (not new news I know). I echo the sentiments of others though...being professionally run, having revenue streams in house rather than sub-contracted out, paying people on time and having an actual plan in place for the future with aims and aspirations would be nice. If Bournemouth can go from the brink of extinction to the a Premiership in a handful of years, there’s no reason we can’t dare to dream. Cautiously.
  22. So we get penailised twice coz of a shite set of officials. Great
  23. Never said there was. It happened though. We weren't paying any of the loan fees at the time. You don't believe it. I know it to be true. Last word competition?
