  1. True, thought we might have seen him on the bench today though
  2. This isn’t a criticism of the Royles at all, I think the good intentions and the legacy joe left will always outweigh any of the bad. I think (Just my opinion) that DU was looking for his first managerial position , the takeover goes through and he’s perhaps made it known that he would like to give it a go or perhaps joe has basically said , here you are David , this is about as safe a bet as you’ll get with us… and the rest is history. No recruitment process. It happens in every industry . Even the ones where they say it doesn’t .
  3. To be fair I didn’t actually check his stats but regardless, i don’t think anyone’s going OTT, a fair few clubs were interested in him, enough people in the know see something in him, I see it for what it’s worth. 20 goals from 7 the previous season is progress isn’t it. Part time league or not. Those part timers from Dorking haven’t done too bad since they arrived in the NL. I’m not comparing him to Norwood, but he was a big part of the team effort that got us our win on Tuesday.
  4. Thing about floods is sometimes the sewage pops up , crude i know but as long as the board are aware
  5. Fondop plays his part too, I honestly don’t think he’s a cart horse, just a liability sometimes. When he came on against Dorking that was the only time I thought we might create something . He’s very strong physically too and I’ve never seen him outmuscled . He’s not the answer to our problems as an individual but I don’t think any of them are. Kept happy and used wisely they could all be an asset although I doubt we will keep them all
  6. I think Reid is an excellent impact sub, whether that’s enough for him I’m not sure but I think he could wreak havoc on a tired defence 60 minutes into a game. Like Thompson said they all bring something different to the table. Willoughby looked ok on Tuesday but there’s clearly more to him. If he can score 30 goals in the league below he can get 20 in this one given the chance. Nuttall looked good on Tuesday too, actually using his considerable size for once to keep the ball to good effect. Only thing that worries me with Nuttall and Norwood combination is the lack of pace . All that said 5 five strikers is a nice “problem “ to have rather than not enough .
  7. There’ll be alsorts of sightings, Lord Lucan, Elvis , the lot
  8. I think the opposition made that look much better than it was, distinct lack of pressing. Although credit to Gateshead.
  9. Yes I was looking at their form over the last few weeks and they won’t be easy that’s for sure . Thompson seems to have his wits about him so hopefully there’ll be a decent plan. I think half the battle was just letting the squad play again rather than treat every game like chess (badly played chess)
  10. I agree, I actually thought he did ok last night and caused York problems and even though his marker was as quick if not quicker than him he generally got around him. A bit careless at times but there’s a reason he’s in the national league I suppose .
  11. Thompson told individual players they weren’t affecting the game in the way they could and should. Between the lines that was the green light for them to play to their strengths and impact the game rather than the awful stifling way Unsworth had them playing.
  12. Agree with all that bar Green, he got some decent crosses in tonight against a fullback as pacy as him , a bit careless at times but he had his work cut out tonight and still got the ball into the box
  13. Yep , he was actually harassing the opposition for the most part which is what he should be doing. Amazing what a difference it makes when you press, and force them back .
  14. Enjoyed that, like watching Barcelona after sitting through that tripe the last 40 odd games
  15. Was thinking the same, does this new pitch just soak it all up? Should do for what it cost
