  1. Exactly, I was cringing yesterday as the voices for him to go got louder and louder. I feel sorry that this being what he thought was an ideal opportunity to test himself in management hasn’t worked out, but he’s had a year and im not having the notion “well he’s only just put his mark on the team “ that’s bollocks in my opinion, he’s been tinkering around now with the squad, brought people in prior to his all important pre season and I’ve seen very little of anything resembling progress. 8 games into this season and there’s already a large gap between us and the top. He’s literally been given a shiny new toy with everything on it but doesn’t know how to use it.
  2. Unsworth in the Oldham times “the balls just not going in” well that’s because we aren’t creating any real chances . Just half mostly hopeful ones .
  3. Playoffs minimum Frank said. Playoffs will be the maximum now. 12 points already to catch up on the top two and we’ve only played eight. The gap keeps growing . Or will the expectation be amended like it was last year when Unsworth arrived and we were awful and suddenly the task was to “keep us in the national league”. That wasn’t the aim initially. No matter how pally Unsworth is with the board they will need to act before long because this is relegation form .
  4. I’m all for giving people time, but he’s had time, he’s been here a year now. In all that time I think I’ve actually got some enjoyment from about 4 or 5 of the games I’ve seen. Even the improved much heralded second half of the season felt like a struggle despite the “3rd in the table form” . Then the much talked about “proper pre season” , new players and decent ones, and yet I can’t see any difference on the pitch to how we were last sept/Oct. He’s had time, much more than most at any other club, in fact I can’t see any other club persevering with him for this length of time.
  5. Or perhaps it was the old “vote of confidence “
  6. No real incremental improvement in 8 games now. 7 points out of a possible 24, chesterfield and Barnet have dropped just 5 points. Dorking parked the bus but weren’t that hard to break down on the odd occasion we got through, we made it look difficult. They then started getting around us and should have scored later on. Their no 30 had acres of space to run in over and over again. Basically the same old story. A better team would have beaten us today. Enough is enough
  7. There’s no way I’m sitting through another 7 games of this. If we win game 9 or 10 will that justify them keeping him longer? I’m pretty sure we won’t be that different in the next 7. The squad are what they are now and I know another manager would get a better tune out of these . He’s played 1 striker up front today in these conditions, Norwood must be having treatment for de hydration now after running around like a headless chicken on his own for 60/70 minutes
  8. 12 points behind top 2 now, thats 4 wins. it’s not happening for us is it
  9. Playing ok but Norwood getting nowt on his own , definitely needs another striker
  10. A win always means something , but if it’s followed by a couple of draws and losses it does lose its value particularly for what we are aiming for. My worry is the odd victory will be seen as justification to continue with the current manager. We need a sustained convincing run of victories which I really hope comes for Unsworth .
  11. I think he’s here for a while yet after listening to Frank at the game. I think the next three games will be draw lose and win but not necessarily in that order. Keeping us low to mid table, justifying to the board to persevere because we might just be turning the corner. pure guess work obviously - and I’m hoping I’m wrong and we win all of em…
  12. You think? Don’t know much about him to be honest but he’s played at a higher level throughout his career
  13. It does seem a bit that way, if that Tunnicliffe lad materialises then he will be another local. I mean if he’s any good I wouldn’t mind but it strikes me of a bit of desperation in some ways. Loads of reasonable quality individual players but nothing a cohesive tight squad, despite what DU says.
  14. I think we will win lose and draw the “easier” games coming up, not necessarily in any order, which will keep DU in situ and will have us low to mid table for months.
  15. Just been reading the comments section on the match report on Oldham times and someone called “Oldham boy” has copied and pasted my post above ,
  16. I’ve always said there’s a clear distinction between criticism and abuse. Some of the nonsense I’ve heard levelled at him in the stand has been bloody awful. But because I criticise doesn’t mean I’m a “hater”. I actually like DU from what I’ve seen and heard but I’m not sure he’s a good manager, and each game I see just reinforces that view.
  17. Frank is the owner and I love the man for what he’s done for this club. He’s very much a heart on the sleeve bloke it would appear but he’s a business man too and a successful one. He must know deep down this can’t continue for too much longer on the results front. That’s your product , what everything else is in place to facilitate.
  18. We were outplayed for good parts of the game and whether we looked like winning or not , we didn’t win, again .
  19. This is already shaping up to be another struggle of a season. There is literally nothing to suggest anything else. Even when we are pushing forward and playing a bit we are bang average. 6 points from a possible 21 is it now? He can talk all he wants about fine margins and being “delighted “ with things that should be a given to his players. Frank can publicly declare his faith in DU, but the results don’t lie. We literally are no better than a year ago. Never mind the new lot are just bedding in etc. He’s had pretty much a full year in charge with no tangible progress on the field. Yes we were technically “third in the table” on form from last January but what in reality does that even mean, and in any case we haven’t continued that momentum because we are struggling again. To say at this stage top spot is out of our reach most would say is silly at this stage, but unless the top couple of sides disappear to Magaluf for a month we ain’t catching them.
  20. Hobson looks exactly what we need (at the moment) green the main threat and it’s to see us win a tackle without getting booked
