  1. im nrely convinced we need a replacement for killer. kalala, macca and allott did a sterling job against everton, and the yard dog mentality is back this year, something which kilkenny was not part of. to me we have a mean streak this year and people dont like us anymore. we are nolonger everyones second favourite team, and i like it. imo i would give kalala the chance to prove himself, ya never know, we might actually beat brighton
  2. Frannie Ward Missed it, he came back to his seat to find everyone telling him macca scored a twentyfive yarder with his left foot, and he didnt believe us
  3. whose been making things up? as far as i can see its a "predict the ins and outs" post. nobody has said "Smalley will defo be loaned out"
  4. agree he has done well, but he wont get a look in when liddell comes back, and if we get another striker, davies can play wide, forcing smalley out of the first team. obviously if liddells injury keeps him out for longer than anticipated, or we fail to get a striker, smalley will stay
  5. who will leave the club in january, and more importantly who will come in? in (hopefully) killer extends Bertrand extends nish sounds decent dont think we need much more, as if we get nish davies could play wing, and taylor can cover both left sided spots out defo ricketts smalley on loan kalala due to lack of first team football wolfy on loan (if we get nish or a.n.other) that young kid in the youth team. £200,000 would do nicely people may well say Eardley, Hughes and Davies will be looked at, but i dont think the 3A's will want to offload anyone, and they are all under contract for another year at least, so there is no need to sell our better players.
  6. dont get me wrong, i like the idea of singing the go west tune, but do we have to keep bringing up his parole? can we not just keep it about his footballing abilities
  7. not a conventional target man, and heading is not one of his strong points, so he isnt the replacement for porter everyone seems to think. but he does seem like a good player and well worth a stab
  8. to the tune of the great escape Hughes' blue Hughes' white Hughes' f**king dynamite He'll score one, He'll score another then he will jig with delight
  9. because however good a song is on here, the percentage of latics fans who use this board is actually quite small. so when we attempt to get it started in the stands, nobody knows the words. our best chance is getting a new one for the Everton game, which we are all going too, and we would be quite concentrated at that game. ill have a think and post it when i come up with summat
  10. i cant see the swindon game having much impact to be honest. we could quite easily be in the play offs by then without that game, and there are over ten games still to be played before that fixture. dont take me wrong, im not saying it isnt an important game, it is, they all are, but there is alot of water to pass under the bridge before then. if they were up next it would be a different matter
  11. why do i get the feeling davies will miss the first penalty he takes for us?
  12. Vonk was class. he was head and shoulders above anything we had at the time. Croft is another one
  13. This thread isnt about naming the worst players to ever wear the shirt, its about those who you expected to take the reins and drag us up a lvel, but ended up either doing absolutely nothing except taking home a pay packet, or actually putting a half decent performance in, but not to the standard you expected. imo Liddell is a prime candidate for debate, i agree he has bee a key squad member in the lastcouple of seasons, but he has been nowhere near the standard everyone expected upon arrival, rodney jack is another good example. the best signing in recent times, who you didnt expect much from tho has to be carss. the effort and work rate he showed coupled with a fair few motm performances are second to none. Irwin takes the overall acolade for me tho
  14. the only reason oldham has any sort of rep is because of the race riots, and what went on that day. this is misguided as oldham fans actually had nothing to do with it, it was simply because it was fans of STOKE causing the trouble. It was reported on a national basis later that there was trouble at an Oldham match, and we have never shaken the tag since. the little incidents you talk about, ie wolves and blackpool, these types of incidents happen on a weekly basis up and down the country, at every club, but they do not mean a club has a reputation.
  15. na he ghosted in at the far post at the rocky road end. cracking goal. Pointon used to take most of the corners back then (presumably he took that one as well, but correct me if im wrong), and put one straight in past David James against Liverpool in one of the three Great Escape games, which we won 3-2.
  16. How many players have we signed who we thought would do the business for us big time, and ended up being a waste of time, money and space? There are quite a few down the years, but top of my list has to be Allan Smart. The first big money signing we made in years, and he scored about eight goals for us, costing us something like 40 grand a goal. absolute shambolic, and to top it all he went out and got arrested on a night out. I really did have big hopes for him when he signed. There are others tho, Dele Adebola for example. On another note, how many players have we signed you thought would be pants, and actually turned out being half decent? I thought Porter was a bad signing tbh, purely because he cost £100,000, but he did the business in the end and, taking away the manner in which he left us, he was actually a cracking purchase.
  17. Hughes will soon be up with Davies in the leading scorers charts. Personally i doubt Anyone would take Hughes on. If we keep this form going for a few months there is no reason we cant be challenging for the playoffs. if we can go one better than last year this time i honestly see Hughes staying faithful to us, repaying the faith we have shown in him. If we dont go up (lets face it, this is more likely at this moment in time) how many clubs would "touch" him? I reckon Hughes will be with us for the rest of his career TBH, with maybe an increase in wages. No matter what happens, He is fast becoming a future legend.
  18. my view of it is that what is now the main stand will be the worst (smallest) stand. my impression of the artists impressions, and the 3d images are that this will be something akin to the stand to the right of us at chesterfield, or the stand we were in at scunthorpe. it will have roughly the same capacity as what is now the main stand. thats my view anyway ps, i presume we are getting a new club shop?
  19. three from white hart, two from grey horse please beardy
  20. get a certain Petroleum company to sponsor it, then we can simply call it... BP Genius!!
  21. I managed to get my shoulder on, on the small pic, but where are the other two main photos we all posed for? The "get a determined look on your face" one, and the celebratory one after the decision?
  22. im just tight. i parked in the carpark near the flats the otherside of st marys way and walked down from there. better that than pay the £3.50. nothing worse than paying to park your car. money for old rope for the council
