Paddy Considine has won the World Cinema Directing Award, at the world-renown Sundance Film Festival in Utah, for his feature film directorial debut Tyrannosaur. He also wrote the film, which tells the story of a man plagued by self-destructive violence and rage, who seeks a chance of redemption in the form of a Christian charity shop worker with a devastating secret of her own. It’s due to be released in the autumn.

Paddy previously picked up a BAFTA for his short film directorial debut ‘Dog Altogether’ in 2008, and he presented a couple of awards at the recent BAFTA Awards ceremony.

Hold on, this is Dog Altogether isn't it? Well, except for the secret bit.

whatever happened to the film project about Bartley Gorman (King of the Gypsies) that PC had the rights to make...anyone??

I bumped into Paddy shopping in Burton today. I asked him your question. He said Shane Meadows has the rights and he, Paddy, contrary to some reports, is not involved in the project. He's busy directing his own films these days.

Decent film [The Cry of the Owl], Just seems strange him doing a (suprisingly decent) Yank accent.

Paddy said he has never watched that film.

Eddie Marsan is a brilliant actor, often gets overlooked in his roles further down the cast list, he's worked with some of the most influential directors in the business.

In fact it's hard to say that Considine deserves a thread of his own, compared with modern greats like David Morrisey, Michael Sheen, Eddie Marsan, Gary Oldman, Jason Isaacs, Kathy Burke...
