Gaz_Oafc
A week too late? or was Penny always number one target? http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11719_5289141,00.html
Hometownclub
Alan Hardy said that DP was top of their list (not that I'd expect him to say anything else TBH). Gannon won't have any trouble finding another managment position.

Tommy_Fent
did anyone else think it was more than just a coincidence that we appoint Dave Penny at exactly the same time County went into admin? Edited May 6, 2009 by Tommy_Fent

Lookers_Carl
Not a huge surprise, think in all honesty he may well have resigned anyway. Apparently (county fans who post on here can back me up or shoot me down here) his wage/contract was on the large side!!!!
Lookers_Carl
lost me As in stockport were banking on us making an approach and paying them compensation????

LaticsPete
Redundancy means that the post is no longer required to carry out the running of the company/organisation. Even in a close season it seems odd that this is the view that's taken about a football manager .
Zorrro
Whilst I'll back Penney as much as reasonably possible, for me there'll always be a huge "what if?" factor whenever I see Gannon's name.

Lookers_Carl
Gannon Achievments - Joined County in January in 2006 as Manager when County were rock bottom of League 2. Managed to keep them up. - Missed out on playoffs on goal difference in 2006/2007 season, gained promotion through playoffs in 2007/2008 - Kept stockport up this season despite being bookies fav to go down, may have gone one step further were it not for the financial problems. Pros and Cons - tough disciplinarian, can work on budget and with younger players. - bit of a personality, known for being arrogant and pig headded (county fans please feel free to add) Penney Achievments - Gained two promotions in successive seasons with Doncaster (from Conference to League 1) - Established doncaster as a league 1 side before leaving, believing he has taken the club as far as he could - Got darlington to playoffs in 07/08 despite chronic injury problems, would have repeated this season had it not been for 10 point deduction Pros and Cons - Good man manager, known for playing effective footall - Struggles to deal with egos in the team, had several all outs with key doncaster players before his departure (doncaster fans feel free to add)
