Lincoln Blue Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Ahh the old Match of the Day tune. The current one only started after the 1970 Mexico World Cup. I remember people complaining that the new one was rubbish. The new/current tune became iconic with hardly anyone remembering the old one. Quote
Museum de Latique Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Have a copy of that programme on DVD bout half a hour - Ron Atkinson & his brother playing for oxford! Quote
boundaryblue80 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Awww...wanted to see some highlights... How about that tho...only 1 substitute! Seems alien that now in this day and age...Even Sheridan couldn't fail to fill that requirement!!! Quote
LaticsPete Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 The programme was on BBC2 which not everybody had (it needed a more "modern" type of tv set, 625 lines as opposed to the older 405 lines). Went round to a neighbour to watch it. Tried to see if I could see myself in crowd but no joy, but a good win at least! Quote
