Frankly Mr Shankly
I'm having a morning dedicated to listening to music. A song jumped out at me which I can equate to being a Latics fan for nearly 30 years. There must be loads of songs out there with lyrics that remind you of being a Latics fan. C'mon, give me yours. I'll set it rolling, from The Desperate Things You Made Me Do by The Magnetic Fields. Time provides the rope But love will tie the slipknot And I will be the chair you kick away You don't even like anything you like Or the people you know And all of your reasons to stay alive died (Chorus): I dedicate this song to you For all the desperate things you made me do I'd like to beat you black and blue For all the agony you have put me through
JoeP
Spent some times in stormy weather Under clouds of my dilemma Now there's nothing much to do But sit and rot in front of televisions Staring back at me I'm just waiting for the microwaves To wash me into the sea You know they don't give a f**k about anybody else! SFA!

dazlatic
I'm having a morning dedicated to listening to music. A song jumped out at me which I can equate to being a Latics fan for nearly 30 years. There must be loads of songs out there with lyrics that remind you of being a Latics fan. C'mon, give me yours. ONE DAY GOODBYE WILL BE FAIRWELL Always be careful when you abuse the one you love the hour or the day no one can tell but one day "goodbye" will be "farewell" and you will never see the one you love again you will never see the one you love again I have been thinking ("What with?") my final brain-cell how Time grips you slyly in its spell and, before you know, goodbye will be farewell and you will never see the one you love again and the smiling children tell you that you smell well, just look at me - a savage beast - I've got nothing to sell and when I die I want to go to hell and that's when goodbye should be farewell Ta-ta, ta-ta, ta-ta-ta Ta-ta, ta-ta, ta-ta-ta Ta-ta, ta-ta, ta-ta-ta Ta-ta, ta-ta, ta-ta-ta One day "goodbye" will be "farewell" so grab me while we still have the time Morrissey Edited January 23, 2010 by dazlatic
boboafc
Artist: The Beatles Lyrics Help, I need somebody, Help, not just anybody, Help, you know I need someone, help. When I was younger, so much younger than today, I never needed anybody's help in any way. But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured, Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors. Help me if you can, I'm feeling down And I do appreciate you being round. Help me, get my feet back on the ground, Won't you please, please help me? And now my life has changed in oh so many ways, My independence seems to vanish in the haze. But every now and then I feel so insecure, I know that I just need you like I've never done before. Help me if you can, I'm feeling down And I do appreciate you being round. Help me, get my feet back on the ground, Won't you please, please help me. When I was younger, so much younger than today, I never needed anybody's help in any way. But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured, Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors. Help me if you can, I'm feeling down And I do appreciate you being round. Help me, get my feet back on the ground, Won't you please, please help me, help me, help me, oh.
Frankly Mr Shankly
Or... to the people who constantly put the club we love down to their friends, family and fellow fans - both stayaways and waiverers. ONE DAY GOODBYE WILL BE FAIRWELL Morrissey Ace. I could think of tons of Morrissey/Smiths lyrics which transfers over to being a Latics fan. All men have secrets and here is mine So let it be known For we have been through hell and high tide I think I can rely on you ... And yet you start to recoil Heavy words are so lightly thrown But still I'd leap in front of a flying bullet for you

slurms mckenzie
Life goes on by the Damned. A song that sounds that has a thoroughly depressing feel (thats the latics bit), but is still inspiring and motivating (like latics used to be). Captain Sensible at his absolute finest. As Nirvana proved with Come as you are (same riff), the Damned were often ripped off, but never improved upon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4J2aU6glt0 Life goes on and on and on If you think it's all gone wrong Go on and on and on Life's a con a con a con If you think you can't go on Go on and on and on But always remember This is the happiest day of your life Life goes on and on and on If you think it's al gone wrong Go on and on and on Life's a con a con a con If you think you can't go on Go on and on and on And as the years they move along I see it now, there's something wrong 'Cos life is for always Take your time Who cares what fools say I don't mind 'Cos this is my day I'll live it my way Today, there's just today Life goes on and on and on If you think it's al gone wrong Go on and on and on Life's a con a con a con If you think you can't go on Go on and on and on

Frankly Mr Shankly
Never really listened to Magnetic Fields MrShankly, name an album for me to listen to first. I'm always up for new (to me) bands.. Cheers Try "Get Lost" first, a 1996 album which I think is pretty much fantastic from start to finish. Brilliant hooks, electronic beats and ace lyrics. Then once you're happy with that most certainly get Stephin Merritt's (he is the Magnetic Fields) opus; "69 Love Songs"; a 3 CD collection of songs about all facets of love released in 1999. You're best going for this second as there's a bit of filler on there, but 40-odd brilliant songs at least. Here's some You Tube links too (Could a mod embed these please?) I Think I Need A New Heart (Taken From 69 Love Songs) Stephin Merritt has made about ten albums so far, plus stuff under different names. Have a read up on him, he's a pretty fascinating character. Oh, and if you do like the Magnetic Fields, I implore you to try and get a ticket for their Manchester Cathedral concert in March. Very rare when they play the UK, and the sublime setting of a cathedral for their songs is going to be mindblowing. Sorry, I went on a bit didn't I? Roger Ritchie
On Penney Lane there is a manager showing photographs Of every Town reject he's had the pleasure to sign And all the people that come and go Stop and say ‘Oh no’ Between the sticks is a Keeper with a friendly boss The little children laugh at him behind his back And the keeper never comes for a cross Hides behind his wall... Another goal Penney Lane is in my ears and in my eyes There beneath the blue Athletic skies I sit, and meanwhile back In Penney Lane there is a striker with bright white teeth And in his pocket is a portrait of Jade Goody. He likes to keep his dentures clean He’s a one on one machine Trumpet Solo Penney Lane is in my ears and in my eyes Four of chicken balti pies In summer, meanwhile back Behind the strikers in the middle of the field A bunch of players battle for position And though they give the ball to the opposition He stick with them In Penny Lane the Manager praises another draw We see the keeper picking the ball from his net Then the striker doesn’t look at all interested What a bore... No score Penney Lane is in my ears and in my eyes There beneath the blue Athletic skies I sit, and meanwhile back Penney Lane is in my ears and in my eyes There beneath the blue Athletic skies... Penney Lane. I think the pentameter might be a little out.
