HarryBosch Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Strange move from an asset stripping, cost cutting, "property dealing :censored:"
BP1960 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 (edited) Category Three Academy, does that mean a cheap option, 3rd rate set up with 3rd rate youngsters....what category is Crewe's ? Edited February 5, 2013 by BP1960
HarryBosch Posted February 5, 2013 Author Posted February 5, 2013 I can categorically state I don't know
rudemedic Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 So all those people "in the know" over the weekend on twitter were presumably not in the know.
rudemedic Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Category Three Academy, does that mean a cheap option, 3rd rate set up with 3rd rate youngsters....what category is Crewe's ? No it means it stays at what it was see http://www.footballacademytalk.com/football-academy-revolution-or-disaster-the-new-fa-elite-player-performance-plan-eppp/
beag_teeets Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Better than some "bigger" clubs too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_Development_League
Monty Burns Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 So it should do too. Its bollocks all this 'new premier league transfer fee' :censored:e. All it means is we just dont sell them. Fine by me.
Twisbrogan Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 The right move and, whether it is from here or elsewhere, the club appear to have taken supporters views on board as they seemed to be veering away from this the other week. Hope supporters keep our side of the deal as well. You need patience with teams of kids which doesn't mean writing them off after a could of dodgy moments and undermining their confidence.
BP1960 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 No it means it stays at what it was see http://www.footballa...ance-plan-eppp/ So Crewe, Barnet, Brentford and Colchester are Category 2..it will interesting to see how their youth develop in comparison to the Latics and the transfer fees they will reap.
Lookers_Carl Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Absolutely the right move, especially considering the pending abolishment of the loan market outside of the transfer window, chances are whoever is in charge will have to rely on youth in the event of injuries.
oafcprozac Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 So it should do too. Its bollocks all this 'new premier league transfer fee' :censored:e. All it means is we just dont sell them. Fine by me. Once they make it with us we can sell for whatever we want, it's just before they make the breakthrough where we get shafted, so your deals for Micah Richards, Scott Spencer and Danny Philliskirk are no more. So it pays to fast track those you think are good enough. Tbh I'd rather do that than play a procession of loanees
oafcprozac Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Is that influenced by looking for a manager to develop this ie McClair?Just a crazy thought. No the decision had been made before Dickov left
bossrocks Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 (edited) This is the right decision. The main argument for getting rid actually had me partly convinced for a while: Jose Baxter vs Kirk Millar et al. But longer term its absolutely right that we stick with the youth set up. Lets hope for more Eardleys and Taylors. Presumably the EPPP vote was a major factor behind the discussion. I wish lower league clubs had more collective bollocks to stand up to the Premier League (perhaps with some FA support). Fishul story here - http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/article/20130205-youthsaved-639631.aspx Edited February 5, 2013 by bossrocks
tangerinedreams Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Kinda got this impression after Corney's interview on Sunday
Hands on Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Great news and if you read the small print we wouldn't get so shafted because additional payments become due depending on performance. It could also mean those that didn't make it might come back to the club where they started and do a good job in the lower league. As good news as the side step - we do have a future!
Lookers_Carl Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Once they make it with us we can sell for whatever we want, it's just before they make the breakthrough where we get shafted, so your deals for Micah Richards, Scott Spencer and Danny Philliskirk are no more. So it pays to fast track those you think are good enough. Tbh I'd rather do that than play a procession of loanees As per my point above, in the near future we won't be able to play a procession of loanees.
