Fixture Pile up

Recommended Posts

March

FRI 29 Swindon

April

MON 1 Colchester

SAT 6 Carlisle

TUE 9 Preston

SAT 13 Bury

TUE 16 Yeovil

SAT 20 Crawley

SAT 27 Leyton O

That is already a very compact fixture list, and getting the Shrews game in there, there is realistically only Tues 23 April in between the Crawley and Leyton games. this effectively means 2 games a week until the end of the season. with our well publicised unfit squad to contend with, this could be a real problem

the only other option i can see is getting the game on this monday, and i recon all at the club should be striving for this. tuesday will prob be pushing it with playing friday as well, but is still a better option than playing Tues-SAT for 4 consecutive weeks imo. we need to be playing while the iron is hot

Can't see it being on next week given the forecast for Monday and Tuesday. The problem is the people who can't walk or drive in snow because they expect everything to be cleared for them.

Little John will just have to use the whole squad because high tempo with people who are 80% fit is going to make April a very long month for the players.

A couple of years ago, we had a game called off on the Saturday and played it on the Monday. Windass debut.

Ii's up to Shrewbury really, and they have no midweek games after Easter, so it would be advantageous to them to leave it until 23rd April.

pile up ...lol

In 1990 , we finished with Saturday , Tuesday , Thursday , Saturday and .....an official extension after the season finished to play Bradford the following Monday .

Otherwise it needed games on consecutive days.

That is a pile up.

Seem to remember in 1994 we play Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday in the last week of the season. And went down.

I'm sure it won't come to that this time.

4 games in 8 days and we only went down by 3 points.

Before the Semi final we had beaten Southampton away 3-1 and QPR at home 4-1 and were unlucky not to get anything from the Man U Game (2-3). After the semi-final, 9 games without win.

It's mad to think a year before we were 8 pts behind and stayed up after winnning the last 3 games.
