Latics - the new Swansea ?

Recommended Posts

There's always a chance so we need to believe.

One point from last night, we play absolutely great football on the deck, we become unplayable in large parts, but as soon as it goes in the air, we lose all momentum because no-one can play a decent enough long ball OR no-one can pick them up in attack.

Let's continue to play football how it should be played, on the deck.

Swansea Council also built a brand new stadium not long before they went up

FTFY Swansea's ground was built by the local council in time for the new system in Welsh Rugby, with larger regional Franchises competing in Europe and then against Irish and Scottish franchises. Bit like Huddersfield's ground.

Swansea also benefitted from a steady stream of investment by a man who is worth comfortably more than Koucash and our landlords combined.

More like the new Aston Villa (from last year).

A young side, plenty of good play - ultimately not enough savvy or brawn for success. Some big wins, some big defeats. Manager sticks to his principles and there is an overall sense of optimism the year after.

Swansea had a plan, whereas - God love Corney - we don't. We're living a short-term, hand-to-mouth existence. Swansea also got bankrolled, meaning among other things they could tie players to long-term contracts. No doubt the majority of our players could play higher up the leagues. Some could even play premier league (Tarky, on last night's showing, definitely could). Will we keep them that long? Probably not. Will someone else (Dickov) come in and get them for a song and profit in the long term? Probably.

Swansea (erm...sorry about the formatting)

So far, despite his best efforts Dickov has signed a grand total of 0 ex Latics players (Furman was already there)

Wellens. (Sorry. That's unreasonable and pedantic, but none the less true.)

Bigger clubs than Donneh will be in for some of our players before too long. When Lee Johnson says he has "no idea" how he got Korey Smith, he's probably not being entirely frank. He got Korey Smith by saying, "You'll get games for us and someone will come in for you. Look at what happened with Dean Furman. You're twice the player he is" and so on.
