I was a big fan of Mvoto, but the partnership of Tarky and Grounds work much better than Mvoto and any of his defensive partners last year. The rise of Tarky since he left has been the most significant improvement I have ever seen in a Latics player in my life...

Grounds looks a revelation at centre back. He plays very much like Tarky, which is no bad thing. I wouldn't be changing that pairing, unless one of the two of them is unavailable.

I was never as big a fan of Big John as most. I doubt he even wins as many headers as Tarky when you factor in actually being in the right place to challenge. And he couldn't play football to save his life.
