I barely get to games these days due to working the odd Saturday, not driving and being too skint to afford the train down but Latics is still a massive part of me. My friends and girlfriend know not to plan anything for a Saturday afternoon because they know I'm gonna be sat at home listening to the game while my girlfriend laughs at the "funny accents". They know that if we've lost they're not gonna get much conversation from me for the rest of the weekend.
I still remember my first game against Newcastle in 1989 like it was yesterday, and every game I get to feels exactly the same as that one did, like I was part of something and like it was part of me. My dad's the same, moans like anything after every game he gets to and then calls me a couple of weeks later telling me he's in some train station on his way to another seemingly meaningless game. It's just what we do.
