  1. Never reaaallly been that into Star Trek - more of a Star Wars geek. However recently I seem to be going through some changes. After 5 years of the show being aired I decided to give Battlestar a chance. My weekend consisted of watching most of season 1. I couldn't get enough! I also watch Heroes and am a big fan of this Zach guy. He plays quiet, misunderstood characters very well and is an excellent choice for spock. So - my point is..... I'm looking forward to watching this new movie. I may end up watching star trek episodes and never have a free wekend again. BSG, Heores, StarTrek - I WILL NEVER WATCH LOST!!! I refuse to get sucked into that never ending writers free-for-all.
  2. I'm always warey of peoples' first posts. It's as if they set up an account just to go fishing. I think Kabba is a good replacement for Windass. Sure we could have kept our other strikers but I think we got some needed moneys for Davies - I would like to see Lewis being given more of a chance. He's a confidence player like Smalley and now he's come come.
  3. More evidence that they do read this site? Nice that he has started to refer to Oldham as "us" and "we", but I fear it's a little too late. We managed to play well first half on Saturday without him - If he does get selected then I pray that he does a good job for us. His flick ons when he first started were great to watch and I hope he stays focused. If he doesn't play then I hope he realises why. Thanks for the PR but we needed goals
  4. Yeovil 0 - 5 Latics Windass 3926 Reason for edit: 926 fans is a little pesimistic.
  5. OK - a few hiccups this season but: (in no particular order) 1. Shez has NOT lost the dressing room. 2. We have only lost 6 games (2nd only to league leaders) 3. Our players are all working well together. 4. We have a great mix of youth and experience - see 1. 5. All our players have the ability to hit the back of the net - except maybe greeeegs but i think he'll get one soon (and now our striker(s) will start hitting it more often) 6. We have some well deserved extra income from a couple of sky games. 7. TTA are still with us. 8. We are doing well considering the depressing economical effect on many other teams. 9. We ARE going to go up this season 10. We are getting some extra positive publicity from various angles. (charity, great personalities playing for us, sky coverage, more to come) 11. We have been able to offload some extra baggage - sad to see them go but it's better for both parties. 12. Other teams are messing it up. ahahaha Leeds. 13. We're not Leeds. 14. Our fans, although can be harsh at times - WILL ALWAYS BACK OLDHAM 15. We still have our most wanted players even after transfer window. 16. More and more players seem to be doing interviews - which means they are happy 17. Our team WANTS to get out of this leage and I believe will show this more and more in the coming weeks. 18. Shez is starting to mix the formations a lot more during the game. 19. We have started to take advantage of set pieces (about time) 20. We have players pushing for positions. Competition in almost all areas. 21. Players are willing to move about their positions and are showing they can perform anywhere they are needed. 22. Our away following is still one of the best. 23. Shez and team commented on good support last game. (Well done supporters - better than booing, right?) Please feel free to add any other positives you think of. I have a great feeling this year...
  6. As I don't actually know any Oldham fans living in Japan (although I've tried to convert some) I7m guessing the closest one I know is ThaiLatic.... although I don't think we've ever spoken. It's a lonely old place.
  7. This is a fun quiz for all you people who have recently been talking about how and where to use the ''' symbol. Whilst searching for international news regarding the pink kit I came across the following site: Doesn't deserve advertisement Now, the fun part is - how many errors can you spot? Yes - I really am very very bored.
  8. I had my say - that performance is worse than a 5-0 thrashing from a lowly team. At least the latter happened.
  9. Neither I can't get sky here - unless....... reason for edit: not allowed to talk about websites. pm me??!? please?!?!?!?!??
  10. On one news page it states his loan spell was cut short due to an ankle problem. On the new news page regarding coming mid-Feb it says it was his knee. Now I'm no doctor but I think those are different ligaments. Can someone tell me if the rarely wrong chron has taken over the OS reporting? There are so many inconsistances I don't know what to believe anymore.... losing the faith in all that is blue.
  11. I went to watch him live at the Lowry some years back. Great guy. RIP
  12. they will sell you their crap. also, if you want to be playing games on a laptop then do NOT buy any standard kit. Make sure it has a decent mobile chip set for a graphics card. They cost more but at least youll be able to play your games (for a few months until the games need an even better graphics card) I'd recommend looking out for a laptop with one of the following: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3800, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4000 GeForce 9700M GT, GeForce 9700M GTS, 9800M GTS, 9800M GT, and GeForce 9800M GTX. ATI and NVidea have always been reliable retailers of video cards.
  13. I take it from your graphics card description that it is an "on-board the motherboard generic" one. These are not good enough I'm afraid. You could possibly try updating the driver for it: driver update but I doubt this will solve your problem. This is why consoles are taking over.... people just can't keep buying new graphics cards, more RAM, better processor, bigger hard drive, fans to cool all the extra stuff, a bigger case to hold all the extra fans and a bigger PSU to power all the extra fans every few months. I'm not going to even start talking about UI's and viruses...... I'm sorry for not being helpful.
  14. I know this is slightly off topic but..... there are a lot of parents involved. does this mean both grooms parents diverced and remarried? If so... is the bridegrooms Mum with another woman? Nothing wrong with that.... just confusing is all. Pretty close to Wardle...
  15. Don't know if this has been answered before but I'll ask it anyways.... cos it's on my mind. What would happen if Richards was part of a player for player deal? (Instead of money being involved). Would we be able to have the player on loan 10% of the time? In fact... what if money was involved. Would we receive a smidgin of what we should? Ta
  16. He doesn't look right happy does he.... actually looking at the photos, there's only one image (hughes n smalley) where anyone is smiling. I think the players should all have big smiles on their faces from the off. They should be enjoying playing soccer for their job. The images make it look as though it's a chore. OK - maybe it was a chore by half time but still.... a enjoying playing the game would have helped mentality. Opinions?
  17. I really enjoyed watching these highlights. We looked great! Some lovely passing, holding of the ball, tracking back (at the right time) to open space for midfield/forwards, the flick-ons from Windass were sublime (specially the back heal volley), players shouting out for the ball (sometimes players don't want to touch the ball in case they make a mistake) etc. The only thing I can think of that the team needs is some more mutual bonding on and off the pitch. The pile-up on Smalley was hilarious. I am even quite shocked as to why, on other threads, Eards had been criticised. I thought he looked good going forward and then coming back to cover for Smalley who was often out of position (my only concern- but his goal was worth the risk). Some people also state that we do not currently have players who are able to compete at a higher level. To this I say, "booo!". The fact that we play better against better teams is a fact. We don't like playing lower league football. We're much better than we give ourselves credit for. We ARE capable of playing well in the championship, we just have to play scrappy football against (s)crappy teams to get out of it. If we continue Saturdays form (and I don't see why we can't) we will do it. Keep the Faith. From Japan
  18. Giving the cold shoulder? The other guy almost **** himself.
  19. my brother should be online to open the chat room in bout 10 mins
  20. ............again?.................... do we have to?
  21. I just thought I'd add some interesting facts about this subject from Japan ( I know I keep going on about this great place ). Considering this population seriously enjoy to drink, almost everynight, (especially the males) the fear of drink driving has really been drilled into everyone. If you even smell slightly alcoholic or whatever when you are stopped (and there are many many random searches) then you will receive the following: 5 years inprisonment (huddled with yakuzas, brazilians or insane people - all together) OR 1 million yen fine (25k + 1 year hard labour with minimal wage) immediate firing from your current job (and unable to ever do the same job again due to the officials believing it was the job that drove you to drive whilst drinking) license revoked for life 1 year license revokation for any additional people in your car (they also have fine of about 5k each) impounded car all names and contacts on your mobile will be cross-checked. warrents can be issued to visit ANY of those contacts' homes. any additional crimes (drugs, porn, etc etc can be used agaisnt the drink driver as an assosciate) The community will treat you as an outcast - especially if living within a small town. (This is very harsh on Japanese people/traditions) ------------------- Also - police use points systems here so if they do pull a drink driver they could face instant promotion themselves - hense the reason they do plenty of random spot-checks. if the police can pin any other offences on that driver via the mobile contacts it's an extra point per person. Needless to say - drink driving is not even thought about here...... We do however have something which I believe England tried a few years back. It's called Daiko. This is where a taxi with 2 people in it picks you up. One of the drivers drives your car with you in it back home (or wherever). The other driver drives the taxi. This is actually cheaper than a normal taxi due to using a little of your own petrol. You also have the benefit of knowing you're fully insured should the taxi driver crash your car. (although they take special crash courses and have cards to prove it - most have also done police extra training - so your safe). All in all - my point is. No one should have to or even want to drink drive. If you drink drive, regardless of how 'lucky/unlucky' you are, punishment should be maximum. Also..... camera's are useless.... have more spot checks. P.S. in a country full of technology, there are no speed cams anywhere.
  22. That is one of the main reasons I wanted to leave England. It's wrong to say anything these days. I grew up on a daily dose of Monty Python.... try re-enacting one of those funny scenes these days and you wouldn't be able to laugh without being slated for it. But..... I digress.
