  1. There are plenty of conspiracy theories thrown about these days and I've just had one spring to mind... The reason we always lose at boundary park is that paying away fans bring in the much needed revenue to keep the club running. Many Oldham fans have already bought there ticket and not many (no actual truth or factual evidence in that) pay on the door. Therefore, if away teams know they are going to a ground where it's a guaranteed win they will fork out their money. They will spend their cash on different amenities within Oldham - possible influence from the community (again - completely unfounded statement) A loss at home = away fans happier = more money brought into BP and Oldham = club continues to run. There may be other aspects to this as our odds at winning games will reduce so that later in the season we can put lots of money on a game atr the bookies - OAFC will play as they know they can and the whole of the Oldham fan base can have a merry christmas (or Easter depending how late they leave it) with lots of money in their pockets. P.S. This is all a consipracy theory and has no bases of truth in it whatsoever. I type this in jest to all the other stupid consiparcy theories out there. Oldham are losing at home due to being not very good.... not a theory. P.P.S. The world will not end in 2012. I will put everything I own on that.
  2. please delete this thread. i feel as though i made a big mistake posting it in the first place. all i wanted was someone to say - "yup - your right. The flag is back to front." I didn't intend people to start bickering about who said what to who. Close the thread - kill it off - i don't care. I'm sorry for all the trouble I have caused.
  3. I now wish my nickname was more memorable - and wasn't so weird. Be interesting to know exactly why people chose their particular names. You'll have to put an explanation/biography as to how the names came about in the calander. If it's only nekked blokes though I might not bother.
  4. noted - I will correct all the Japanese text books I have used over the past couple of years and send e-mails to every school here stating we have taught them wrong. to be honest though - I like being corrected on things like this - it just proves that they have been influenced by Americans who don't know the correct terms for such matters..... and I, as has now been proven, have fallen into the same trap. I'm going to cause another ALT war*! *I won the last ones stating that football is the correct term to use - not soccer.... and that "I'm fine" means that "I could be better" - Not "I'm great". Now - where are those American ladies so that they can try and argue with me about such things?! Bring em!
  5. BNP fool This guy can't even position the Union Jack correctly. No thanks. Not in anyones best interest....
  6. How about making diplomatic relations with Japan? Students here want to learn more about "soccer" and need to know the history of Oldham rather than just Arsenal and Manure. etc. There is some untouched talent around these parts that Oldham could also have first pickings should a successful link be made. Just a thought. Im doing my best to get my students interested in Oldham but, unfortunately, recently, there is nothing much to be excited about.
  7. That is so scary I wasnt going to say anything but I had exactly the same dream.... but also that brill was sent off for handling outside the box....... it came after everyone was shouting for him to come for balls. He said to me. "OK, I'll go for the next one".. and he did. it was 0-6 at half time and I woke up to boos. weird... scary... but possible.
  8. Waaaahhh.......... you're lucky. It starts at 3:15am here so I will be probably just returning from a night out (or still out at karaoke). My brain may not be able to function correctly to find the correct website. Not a good time at all. At least its not a school night else I'd never be able to watch.
  9. probably a half-hearted applaus would suit his return best... or a clap that soon fades to nothing... or we could clap til we get our bovril and then just give up. or maybe just think about a different team and applaud them... OLDHAM. his heart was never in it - why should we care?
  10. MK Dons - edited article (now showing Carrington as unused) Seems they have changed it..... HOWEVER ! If you check the line-up on the right hand side (click the tab) it shows that Carrington did have some time as a used sub and was replaced by Partrige. If he wasn't then who exactly came on for Howell on the 63rd minute..........?!?! So, we still don't know who is right or wrong, what will happen if anything and whether Big Gordon was talking about this or something in his personal life. Can't wait for this to be cleared up but I do love a conspiracy theory. reason for edit - i confused myself as much as the officials
  11. Always one... pff. Your taxi is already waiting for you.. (must admit i was waiting for someone to say it)
  12. That shut the moaners and groaners up. Good job. (or they could be hiding on pointless ranting threads -- which I have stopped reading) Keep the Faith.
  13. slightly off tolpic but ... livin in japan and workin with a guy in a japanese beatles tribute band called Beat Less.... i can honestly say i have never heard them play. and dont want to. but if ur brother-in-law needs any info let me know.
  14. No - I say this because it will just slow things down and if there's a slight thought someone had scored the game would be stopped until everything is checked and double checked then referred back to whoever. There are clear goals and unfortunately last Saturday was one (if it happened to us Id be upset). There could be some rule where if it isnt a goal but someone asked for the game to be stopped and then checked - then they would have to concede a corner or something but then that just gets silly. NO no no. I can immagine some slightly bigger team like Manure still complaining that the TV was lying or something.
  15. I guess he's getting lots of advertisement - so in that sense the advert worked. Just a shame its all bad publicity.... quite embarassing really. A footballer should advertise themselves on the pitch no on t'internet.
  16. same happens with me..... any advice?.... bro?!?!
  17. 2-4-4? 2 in defence?.... You aint changed a bit Big Joe. Fair enough boss. No danger.
  18. yep... he was the average guy who lived his dream. Didn't he give up his day job to become a pro? Also - he was genuinly one of the nicest, most caring and sincere people you could ever meet. The fact that he played for Oldham and gave it his all was the icing and why we were fortunate to have been graced with his presence. I would not have 11 roger palmers because he would always go missing. 11 andy richies would be head tennis all day. 11 paul warnes would just run circles round each other. 11 chris porters would bankrupt us. 11 tony carrs........... maybe
  19. The team near me is called Vent Forret. Theyre the main team in Yamanashi and are in the 1st division equivelent. They're not good by all means but they sell out to 40,000 every week and there is always a party atmosphere. All ages are the same price.... 800 yen (about 7quid in today's market.... used to be 4quid last year) Now I know 'soccer' isn't that popular here compaired to baseball but they still pull in the crowds. EVERY match is on a Sunday. The reason people support this rubbish team though is because it is the only one around worth watching. I'm afraid England may end up the same - all the small clubs will fold. If we don't get out of this crappy league this season I fear we're dooomed. I haven't lost the faith - but I will if there is nothing to have faith in.
  20. ........think........... OK - thought about it. (Have been all season actually) and.... NO. Not the fans fault.
  21. At the away games you can hear the fans singing and chanting before the team is even on the pitch. This MUST have an effect on the team. At home - it's either the wind from the air or out of someone's mouth or backside. Nothing but poisonous fumes. Albeit when we're playing a 'well supported team' we sometimes compete for atmosphere. There is one remedy for the lack of noise at home and this is .... Get promoted to a higher division and play against more supported teams. When we play garbage then the fans have a right to voice their opinions i feel. I was always one to stand up for the team and anyone else working for the club I support but - when we play like we did on Saturday, showing a shower of ***** to those who paid 20quid to be entertained then I sit down and shut up. I have never and will never boo..... but I've gone quiet. (and that's not just because I'm thousands of miles away - I'm embarassed) Reason for edit - "Shez in" free zone
