Two road wins for Dallas It would be very nice to get a win on Thursday though for a few reasons. A) home opener B ) its against the wings C) Its Modano's first return to Dallas D) if we win it will be 3 in a row, something we failed to do last season Shame to see the Devs lose their second game against the caps, can't put anything on the opening weekend and i still fully expect Dallas to miss the play offs (D was poor again in both games) and for me to be cheering on New Jersey at that point

I like Black and i think it's important to let him get the first team experience but i don't think he should be starting every game yet, he still looks suspect at the back and on Saturday in the second half he looked scared to run at his man and instead opted to cross in from further away and these balls tended to end up doing us no good. On the other hand at least he's attempting it. It's a tough one. At the very least this lad gives us a few more options. If he is good going forward from the wing then he and Black could become a real threat to defenses, only time will tell

They supposedly 'care about the club', to me that means they should care about the future no just the present

Alot of the initiatives that the club put together (good and progressive as they are) seem to very flash in the pan. A game here, two games there. I doubt it's enough to make younger people care, not everyone gets bitten by the bug straight away. I started going to Latics with a friend when i was 16 (i was a maure 'fan' but really wasnt bothered about football much), it wasn't until i had been going for around half a season that i started to care. This leads me to believe that if the club really want to build a foundation of fans in the new generation they need to be bringing them in week after week. Something like making a permanent deal where if you come with a child of 15 or under you both get in for a £10. Or if they need more motivation, this ticket also comes with a free pie and drink, or a free match day programme. I don't know the logistics and the club would probabley lose some money at first but if in ten years time the fan base was strong and we are getting the 7,000 fans we need to be self reliant (made up figure don't know what gates we'd need) surley it would be worth it? Obviously a very long term idea but i doubt there is a short term fix available.

shame he hasn't been playing, was really impressed when i saw him play (against b rovers i think) stick him on the wing, think he is better going forward than Jones, although to be fair his game may be suffering from having the ball constantly lumped up at him

Well like i said they are our opening fixture so i'l be able to see how they play then. I wouldnt be watching all their games, just some one else to follow in the play offs if Dallas don't make it. Is Kovalchuk worthy of the sh*t storm he created?

This will be my first full season watching ice hockey and the NHL in particular and its become clearer and clearer that Dallas are in for another bad season but if its similar to the last time out then at least there will be the suspense of will we/won't we make the play offs. Although there wasnt really any suspense after the olympic brake last season because we were very average. Will be subscribing to centre ice though so might pick a more promising girlfriend team from the Eastern conference, possibly the devs since they are our opening game. Good idea?? Or another dud team, i have no idea what has happened with the devs roster in the off season, apart from the whole Kovalchuk 15 year contract arbitration 'saga'

He did a job last season but I was never a big fan, he was never going to be a big goal scorer for us. Obviously he was injured a while and played through it alot so can't be hard on the guy, I think he put enough effort in but I'm not overly bothered that he's gone. If we get our 'premierleague' loaned striker then we should be satisfied

Funny this thread appeared because i took a mate to the game yesterday and it was about the 4th or 5th game he's seen this season and he was saying how in those games he's yet to see anything special from Pav and that he looks very average. I don't like getting on players backs and i believe that this season Pav is definatley our best chance of scoring but having said that i don't believe he is as good as some people seem to believe.

As soon as they scored their second the team just fell apart completely. We were lucky to get the draw but i'l take as many lucky points as we can get from now until the end of the season.

I put +5 but it's because i live at uni not because i don't want to go. I am going today though

We won! woooooooooooooooooooo great game of hockey. I watched the first period last night and the second two this morning. Went to sleep annoyed but very happy now broke their home winning streak too

Ah the podcast i was listening to was from before that game. Now it's a different kettle of fish all together, we put 3 past the pens (ignore the 6 against for a moment) so if we do it again and the caps carry on with this catastrophic slump in form it'l be a walk in the park

Ok, Stars at the caps tonight. i rekon they are gonna beat us 5 - 2. Anyone else want to venture a guess? Bare in mind that our defense/goal tending is sloppy and they have scored 3 or more goals 23 games in a row

Hence the sacrcastic 'oh joy'. Unless they string together a big run of wins (seems unlikely at best) the Stars arn't going to be in the playoff's this season which means i will have to cheer on the Coyotes with my house mate.

Last night i was thinking ah the pens, here comes our 3rd defeat in a row. And within 3 minutes they had scored and i swore. But then we equalised. Then in the second period we fired in two quick ones and were 3-1 up and i thought jesus we are going to win this. Well how wrong was i. 5 unanswered goals later it's stars 3 Penguins 6. And on Monday we have the caps. Oh joy
