  1. The Chris Taylor I knew was a theatre director who became a vicar!!!
  2. As it's nearly 10:00pm here, I don't have as long to wait for 3:00pm tomorrow ;)
  3. I've just been browsing the current squad list and it struck me that a couple of the players share names with people I know - Chris Taylor and John Thompson. This then lead me to think about other Latics players who have the same (or similar) names of friends and acquaintances. Here , off the top of my head, is the list : Mike Milligan Paul Edwards Ian Wood Neil Adams (my former Headmaster!!) Martin Pemberton David Shaw Andy Gordon Ian Graves Richard Johnson Chris Malkin Brian Parker Does anybody else know people with the same names as Latics players?
  4. 999 must be about the combined age of the bands members these days!!
  5. Funnily enough, I've just had some friends from Belper staying and they brought me a plentiful supply of both!! Along with Heinz Baked Beans, Sponge Puddings and Walkers salt & vinegar crisps. They claimed that they couldn't fit the cans of beer into the suitcase but I suspect that they drank it on route!!
  6. I'm feeling strangely confident about this season. I also have new routine planned, which I follow during the match. You'll know if it's been successful at about 5:00pm tomorrow evening
  7. http://www.football-shirts.co.uk/fans/part...y-kit-0809_1557 Not for the faint of heart!!
  8. Egon Ronay's thoughts on the catering?
  9. M*n C*ty - The Pride of Thailand or M*n C*ty - The Laughing Stock of England I can't begin to explain how much I'm enjoying this. Get yourselves over to the MEN website for a real laugh. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/spo...ksins_cash_plea 400 posts already!!!
  10. The first league match of the 74/75 season resulted in a 1-0 or 2-0 home win but I can't remember who we played. I think we lost our first away match 1-0 at Notts Co. We also did well in the Anglo-Scottish Cup that pre-season: beating Sheff Utd at home (Tony Currie etc) 4-1, Blackpool 2-1 away, but losing to Th*ksin (his wife is a crook) Town 1-2. Can anyone recall who our first league match was against? I was definitely there (I have the programme) but for the life of me I just can't remember!!!! It's funny how old age can play tricks!!
  11. Which season was the 3-3 Wrexham match? 2001/2002? I was certainly there for that. There were huge queues outside the ground and I missed the kick-off.
  12. Quite a few. Although my memory may be playing tricks!! Luton : lost 1-6. Didn't we take the lead? Cardiff : 2-2 81/82 season. My best friend's funeral was the day before. I really couldn't have cared less but we threw away a two goal lead! I also remember that the Cardiff fans were housed in the Main Stand paddock. Cardiff : 1-2 02/03 season. My wife's first league match. I was also sitting with a few mates. One of whom was a Cardiff fan!! Brighton : 1-3 03/04 season. After the traumas of the close season I felt compelled to return to England. Not been back since!! Liverpool :1-2. Earl Barrett!! Blackburn : Can't remember the score (0-2?) but I know we lost. This was the start of the "Pinch Me" season. I was interviewed by BBC radio after the match. So was my dad who said we were, "Bloody rubbish!!" No surprise there, Diego!! I remember the Derby win with great fondness !! Wolves :3-2 in the promotion season. I'd travelled all the way down from Cumbria. A great day. Charlton :5:2. I thought we'd bounce straight back up!!
  13. A terrible shame. My thoughts are with the Sh*nawatra family at this difficult time. And of course with those cheeky scallywags who support M*n C*ty. The look on Wacky Tacky's face as the verdict was read out was a picture. Hopefully, more to come.
  14. Yes, I can remember these old shops. There was never anything on display and if you wanted to buy something the shop-keeper would have to get it out of one of the numerous cardboard boxes stacked on shelves. I seem to recall that the Latique at BP was just a counter with all the souvenirs pinned on the wall at the back. You could only fit about three people in there, and that included the old woman who was serving! As I mentioned in an earlier thread, my gran used to knit me Latics shirts and socks. I've got photos somewhere of me wearing them. However, I do remember buying the tangerine shirt (made by Bukta?) from a shop in Rochdale!! I still have it in a suitcase in my mum's loft. I also bought the Umbro diamond sleeves shirt from Schofields. I used to wear it for school PE lessons when everyone else was wearing Derby, Villa and Wolves shirts. I still have this shirt as well!!
  15. Thanks for your help, rummy. However, this is old news. You Tube is up and running again. I managed to get it on my computer at work, the week before last, and other people I know aren't having any problems. It's something with my computer. But I can't figure out what
  16. I've been trying to watch all the ones advertised on here. I get the same message on each one. I've even tried the You Tube homepage for the "Currently Being Watched" section and get the same message
  17. Everytime I try to watch a video on You Tube I get the message, "We're sorry, this video is no longer available." Anybody know why this is or how I can get it to work? Thanks
  18. I think it was '75/'76. Surely you should remember, Chris. You must have played with him enough times By the way, it was Steve Gardner I saw playing for England schoolboys and not Steve Edwards. Drinking too much Chang can play tricks with your memory!!
  19. It's always interesting finding stuff like this. I can remember seeing Al*n Y*ung playing for Scotland schoolboys against England at O*d Tr*fford in the early '70's. And, Steve Edwards playing for England schoolboys around the same time. I also remember seeing Happy Mondays supporting the Woodentops at B'ham Poly in 1986ish. I wonder whatever happened to them?!!
  20. This won't happen but................if every team just stood aside and let Luton beat them 6-0 it would send out a message to the FA/FL that us smaller clubs are sick of being pushed around by the so-called bigger clubs. What would they do then?
  21. English football is in an absolute mess. The "Greed Is Good" League allows clubs to run up massive debts and be owned by "dubious" characters while the rest of us can go to hell. RIP, English football.
  22. I'm watching it here : http://www.justin.tv/widgets/jtv_live.r779...annel=mycricket If it asks you for a password, it's "batsman" Not sure if I'll make it to the end. It's nearly 1:00am here and I've already had one late night this week watching the Nadal v Federer final!!
