  1. I care very much for Chonburi. I go to all the games, home and away, and it really matters to me. I enjoy Chonburi victories and feel as much pain in defeat as I do with The Latics. It'll be a close call when we meet in the Eurasian Cup in a few years time
  2. Chonburi FC - My local club Burton Albion - Where I grew up Kendal Town (Netherfield) - I lived in Kendal for a number of years.
  3. I've just bought a Boro shirt with the number 8 on the back. Petty I know but I'll get a lot of pleasure from wearing it in certain places over here. I haven't been able to stop smiling all day
  4. Sadly not. But it may have affected today's result.
  5. Yes please. And I'd love to see a close up of Wacky Tacky's face as this happens. The bloke is a #%*@
  6. The M*n C*ty messageboard over on the MEN site is very entertaining right now. What I don't understand is why everyone is surprised by Th*ksin's behaviour. They were all warned what he was like (mainly by posters from Thailand who've seen him action close up) but chose to ignore it and take his money. "Som nam nar" as we say here!
  7. You can call me old-fashioned (you can call me straight-laced) but it will always be the BROADWAY STAND and the BROADWAY PADDOCK. Just as it will always be the THIRD DIVISION and the LEAGUE CUP!! Bah, humbug
  8. Until I was old enough to go and stand at the back of the Chaddy I always used to sit on the wall on the halfway line in the Broadway Paddock. I must have watched some rubbish from that vantage point but I was also perched there when we beat Huddersfield 6-0 to win promotion from the 3rd division and when we beat M*n U*d 1-0 the following season. And I have very fond memories of my "spot". I only ever sat in the upper section on two occasions. The first was in about 1972 or 73 when we played Rochdale. My mum thought that there would be trouble so she sent me to sit with one of her friends. And the second time was for a league cup tie against Bradford in the mid to late 70's. I went with my grandad and he insisted we sat there. I think we lost!! My parents stiill sit in the bottom section and have never watched a home match from anywhere else in the 60+ years they've been going to BP. I don't know where they'll move to. They'll probably start going to Burton Albion
  9. Is that from the "Clough The Magic Dragon" board? I sent a load of clippings from the Thai papers after Burton drew with M*n U*d a couple of years ago to the bloke who runs the site. It's always worth reading and the "Clough Outers" were certainly in evidence on there a few months ago. I really hope they go up and you get to enjoy your day at Wembley!!
  10. Fantastic!! At least BALLS season is still alive. It'll be great to see the Albion in the Football League. And all those disillusioned Derby fans will come flocking to the Pirelli Stadium!!
  11. Steve McMahon has been over here for quite a while now (most of last season and all of this so far) giving his "expert" opinions on ESPN/Star's premier league coverage. I can't see him giving up a cushy number in Singapore to go back to manage in the English third division. So, you needn't worry!
  12. Thank goodness for that!! After his rather naive (and I'm being charitable here) comments about his beloved "Th*ksin" on his recent visit to Thailand, I wouldn't want him at BP. He is a fool. The phrase "political pawn" has been overused somewhat just lately but it certainly applies in Schmeichel's case. Silly boy!
  13. You're never too young. My mum and dad used to take me, home and away, in my carrycot. 45 years later I'm still inflicted. I have such rotten parents!!

  15. I meant to add the Brewers to the list but I forgot in all the excitement!!! It looks like the Albion's play off push is back on track after a few dodgy results. It could be a Wembley double for us BALLS members this season.
  16. We'll make the play-offs. I've never been more confident!! It was a great footballing weekend. Latics won. Chonburi won, and went to the top of the league. U*d and Th*ksin Town both lost. And, two of my best mates teams, Cardiff and West Brom, made it into the FA Cup semi finals. Sometimes football is a great game!!
  17. I already do support another team, Chonburi FC. I follow them home and away and I have even been overseas to watch them. It's easier for me to get to matches than travelling to BP every other week. I don't think that I could ever support another English club with the same passion that I have for the Latics but if I had to, it would be Burton Albion.
  18. It was about 1,800. And, I was there. As I was living in Burton on Trent it was virtually a home game for me!! I remember the night vividly because I was accosted by a local "nutter". He told me that the Filbert Street goalposts were square and that shots which hit the post were more likely to stay out as opposed to the rounded goalposts when shots would probably go in!! I remember it as if it was yesterday.
  19. And, for the record, here is the list of our 10 highest crowds. I've highlighted the ones I know that I was definitely at. The Fulham match from May 1986 is an interesting one. Considering who the manager was and what happened the following season!!
  21. The blue and white thirds or "Ajax" kit. It's unique and it's traditional.
  22. Don't forget O.S.H.I.T. Oldham Supporters Here In Thailand.
  23. It wouldn't!! Our season doesn't start until mid-February (the first round of matches are next Sunday) so playing in January wouldn't be an issue. Secondly, Thai domestic football is very poorly supported. We get the biggest crowds in the league and our average attendance is about 1,800. We had about 10,000 for our penultimate match last season when we won the league against our closest rivals. This was most encouraging but our final game, a Wednesday 4:00pm kick off(!!!), unsurprisingly drew only about 500. Most other teams will only attract a couple of hundred fans most weeks. The problem being that the majority of Thai teams are either company sides or teams representing the forces. Chonburi is a city, and a province, and therefore thelocals can identify with the club. It goes without saying that the English Premier League is very popular here, although most people enjoy it mainly because it gives them an opportunity to gamble (illegally!!). I don't doubt that a Premier League fixtue in BKK would sell out, especially if it was Un*ted or Liverpool. I've been to watch a few club sides over the years when they have played the Thai national team and they have drawn reasonable crowds but only U*d and Liverpool have sold out. The lowest crowd for a visiting English team was when Notts County were here a few years ago when Big Sam was in charge. That was a strange evening!!
  24. Apologies if this has been mentioned before but has anyone considered the fact that these matches will be played in different climates? Bangkok can be pretty humid in January!! Singapore too. Then, to the other extremes, Tokyo, Beijing and New York are likely to be pretty cold!! The whole idea is madness!!
