  1. Mark Crossley? Sheridan and Oldham connection, goalkeeper coach at Chesterfield so pretty easy to get?
  2. Wow, that was strange, I live in Melton Mowbray and have for the last 17 years, I moved from Royton. I have supported the latics for a large part of my life. Hence porkpie blue! For your info Mansfield have a tie up with Brooksby Melton College and their youth train and learn at their fantastic new facilities. By association I have been playing football there for the last few weeks and from time to time the Mansfield boys play. We had our first 11 a side match last night against a local school team (staff) and that's where I was. One of their youth was watching and he is likely to be on the bench today. Just remember the latics have eyes and ears every where we go
  3. I played in a team tonight with Adam Murray, John Dempster and Scott Rickards, I was talking to them about tomorrow's match and they sounded confident that they could win it depending on our approach to the game. If we come with an high and mighty attitude this is what will will them to win. They did say that they have watched us and were impressed with our football. Lets get behind the boys and help them win. By the way John is the guy that got sent off when we last played them, he is still a good player!
  4. I can't imagine that many league 1 footballers would subscribe to this approach. It's pretty simple really, get the ball, keep the ball, move it towards the oppositions goal and put it in the onion bag, step two is repeat what you just did and step three is something similar. To achieve this we will need a team I repeat a team that can run faster than the opposition and that has the necessary skills to put the above instruction into play. During the weekly training session we can work on getting and keeping fit and to work together as a team. When we start winning games we will know that our plans really do work.
  5. " who's coming with me" such a lot of bollocks spouted in this game. Should have stayed here and finished the job. I don't wish him success with Barnsley even though I liked him as our Manager
  6. Only three people know what happened on that night in May 2011. What is clear is that Ched was an idiot to get himself involved. He is paying the price for his foolish behaviour. I believe he has the right to clear his name if he is truly innocent of the crime he was convicted of though this will be a tortuous path. I don't believe that our club is doing the right thing if they sign him as a player. Ched Evans with a clear criminal record would not be on our radar as he would be courted by bigger clubs and this can only mean that our club is targeting a cheap investment with a view to a bigger return on that investment. In other words its a cheap trick to profit from the situation and that doesn't sit well from a moralistic perspective even if it works from a business perspective. That being said it is the media that has made this such a controversial and emotive subject, I can't recall any club officials claiming that they are in the process of actually signing the player. Let's hope for their sakes that they see sense.
  7. Rest in peace Dave. Happy memories playing five a side at the Clayton Arm indoor sports hall many moons ago. It was always good to talk with him on my now rare visits to BP/white heart pub pre-match. Gone but not forgotten.
  8. Where there's a will there's a way, where there's a wilt there is no way so keep yer pecker up lads!
  9. Am I being silly when I get the feeling that Lee might offer Cliff Byrne the job. Might it be that he was being assessed at the boot camp? There is no sign of him going back to scunny which might indicate a bigger role at the latics.
  10. To the tune of ten green bottles.. 10 latics players standing on the park 10 latics players standing on the park And if one 'tarkowski' should accidently score There'd be 9 latics players left to score a goal. And repeat changing the number and latics player
  11. Think we need anthems that the crowd can get involved in easily. Something like Queen's we will rock you. Feel free to change the words but something like.. Crofty you're a young man, fat man, fast man....... Chorus along the lines of.. He will, He will skin you, skin you.. You get the gist.
  12. he is a contracted manager for two years. An experienced number two is all that's needed.
  13. Surely a player coach role with Brown/Horton as a management team is what's on the cards? Johnson has decent enough footballing credentials for league 1 and we need a stronger midfield. Seems very plausible to me and certainly not disastrous. Corney does not want to see us delegated.
  14. Barnard plays too far away from Iwelumo. An attacking midfielder needs to play off Iwelumo IMO. That should be Mr. Showboat but it isn't happening.
  15. He won most of the balls in the air today and knocked them down to...... Well nobody because none of our players could be arsed to read his game. If you put a footballer with a brain near to Iwelumo we will get more goals. Iwelumo is the provider and not the scorer. Pretty simple really!
  16. Barnard is a big plus. He worked his socks off tonight againt international players as did all of the team. Tarko was immense.
  17. It would be a benefit to our club if he can come back in some capacity (not as manager). Can't help but think he would have been successful with someone like John Gorman by his side. Thank you Paul for being a credit to our club
  18. Sammy Lee with Jamie Caragher coming at the end of the season?
  19. Good club to be associated with. They are very much a fans club. They have a lot of similarities to us. I have regular dealings with a St. Pauli fan. We talk about football a lot. They nearly went out of business like us but their fans rallied and helped them to survive. They have a lot of paying fans and that has something to do with traditionalism and the fact that is cheap to watch football in bundesligue 2.
  20. Experience will keep us in league 1 peeps. Let the battle commence.
  21. Players doing what they are told to do and doing it well. We can stay up if they keep listening and putting it into practice.
  22. We are only few (experienced) players short of saving our season. Dickov should now be allowed to bring few in. Keep the faith and Paul might not be the worst thing for us. Proud to be an Oldhamer
  23. I would not be surprised if Dickov's number two will be an experienced player who can get the message out to the players on the pitch
  24. In for me. Pre-season shows that we are capable. Some silly mistakes have knocked confidence but this is unlikely to continue. I expect that we will see some more palyers come next Saturady but I guess that will depend on who goes out too. If Taylor and Smith are not the answer I think one or both might make way for someone like Clarke. Keep the faith, we are only a few points away from being OK and let's face it for us L1 is where we are likely to stay unless someone changes our financial position (more fans or new investment).
