  1. Ah, BB80 is back. The bloke who thinks there is a line of wealthy business men out there desperate to buy a football club so they can watch their bank balance disappear. Its not for me to enlighten you as to the financial status of Port Vale-the chairman says they are not about to go bust. They do have a stand that is still awaiting completion after SEVERAL YEARS whereas ours is now open!!!
  2. For someone who has nearly a 1000 posts I am surprised that you are surprised-there aren't many well wishers on here anymore.
  3. That's the point-no I don't, not legally anyway. So when everybody is calling for Corney out, what's the incentive/motive for somebody else to come in unless they are a supporter of the club?
  4. Nice idea, have you stood at your front door and thrown £10.00 notes down the road? Cos in effect that's what you are asking them to do.
  5. Right all you Corney haters and knockers-Oh and lets include Jim McMahon in that now. You seem to think that this league has a line of rich people queuing up to buy football clubs. Lets see how long it takes to off load Port Vale who have just been put up for sale.
  6. So isn't this saving the club? You also conveniently forget that all this club, like most others runs at a loss. So who stumps up the money then?
  7. I can understand all this moaning about how poorly we are playing but I really do not get the abuse directed at Simon Corney-many on here thought the new stand would never be built-it has. Many thought it would never open/be in use-it is. Nobody can deny the ground is in a better state now than it has been for years. The team isn't playing good football but he is still backing it by bringing in new players that who ever was/is in charge identifies. There is no money in owning a football team in the lower leagues-the only way to make any money is by criminal action. For those of you who think this club is in a mess you need to take a look at what is happening at Northampton Town and remember other clubs like Chester City. This is what happens when you have a chairman who is not interested in the football club.
  8. Anywhere recommended fora pre match drink tomorrow? Can you still use the club at end of away stand?
  9. Just reading on the BBC website that Chesterfield are announcing the appointment of Dean Saunders as manager today. Now after all the furore over Latics new manager how would you feel if you were a Spirites fan? This is a team that finished 6th this year after last years promotion and they appoint a manager that has taken his last 3 teams down. Sometimes football just seems to recycle failures instead of moving on and going for new ideas and managers. Micky Adams is another name that springs to mind and there is always good old Harry Redknapp. I would much rather have a chairman who takes a chance and tries somebody new unless you can get someone of proven pedigree. Also see Crawley have had over 30 applicants of the highest quality for their vacancy.
  10. Wouldn't chance Kelly coming back after a calf injury on that ploughed field/pitch.
  11. Holden seems to have a good knowledge of players at this level based on the loans he has brought in. The team is playing better and Holden seems to respond to events on the pitch such as replacing Connor Brown last night to prevent a sending off. Changes the format of the team around to cancel out the opposition threats during the game. At the moment what's not to like? When Wilkinson scored on Saturday at Crewe he ran straight across to Holden to celebrate.
  12. Is it just a coincidence that this fella starts to hit form under a new manager?
  13. Apparently he lives on the big 'estate' at Wychwood Park just off the M6.
  14. Derrick Parker-never looked a player, then when he showed a little promise broke his hand at Derby County. David Currie-we were at West Brom and some body shouted out at him 'Taxi for Currie' just about summed up his performances. Mike Bernard looked a great signing-tore his thigh muscle and never recovered he played half a game and looked a different class in that short time. Paul Moulden-what a striking record BEFORE Latics-didn't they announce the signing before kick off on a Saturday afternoon, most unusual. Any Manchester City loanee.
  15. All these people who were quoting betting odds for the Barnsley job-whats it showing for Latics?
  16. Jesus, some people cannot appreciate others doing their best to help the club. If you don't like it then ignore it-simple.
  17. Jones goal was no deflection-passed it in with his left foot-bang in line with it in Rochdale Rd end.
  18. Thought Philliskirk made a difference when he came on. Tightened up the right side as Winchester was dead on his feet before he got injured. Stopped that little :censored: of a winger who had a pop at the ball boy getting forward. Good tactics from Johnson.
  19. That was definitely more than a tight hamstring. Nobody has mentioned how strong the subs bench is now. Just about everyone on the bench is as strong as the player coming off and there are plenty of options position wise as well.
  20. Definite hint of a spare tyre around the midriff but smaller than Rochdales goalie.
  21. Express reporting Latics have held talks last week with Ched Evans. That's gone and ruined a perfect day.
