  1. Big call from LJ dropping 'Chubs for Chubbs tomorrow. http://www.oldham-chronicle.co.uk/news-features/10/oldham-athletic-news/89164/latics-call-for-kenny
  2. 4th lowest budget? Is that official? I know we aren't a big hitter, but I'm surprised at being that low.
  3. Thought Dieng was great in the first half, kept Davies and Beckford quiet, then was a monster in centre mid in the second half. He's come on leaps and bounds already. Kelly is probably our most important player. Tidser had his job in the first half and didn't do it at all well. Triple substitution was radical, and worked, well done LJ. Don't care about a keeper skying a peno, stuff like that happens. Chubs back Saturday though, Etheridge was hesitant coming off his line - when Kusunga went flying over the hoardings, it was cause Ether didn't come out.
  4. Wonder when someone last won MotM and was sent off!
  5. Must be something in the water this weekend, Gaston for Hull has just been sent off for nothing.
  6. You can't appeal two yellows. It's not too bad that he misses JPT rather than league (hopefully)
  7. Me too. Think his head dropped when he missed his header. On a side note, thought Poleon was quite effective in his 12 minutes out wide, got himself into good positions and pulled it back well for one of DP's chances.
  8. Definitely not Dieng's fault, like Sly says, he's passed it to his strong side, offered the option and Chubs has time to hump it long. I can't understand why LJ has picked him out in his i/v with Chubs and Wilson. Done a decent job as a stop-in centre half, just seems unnecessary to have a pop.
  9. Ha, those highlights are mental, no context at all to their goal.
  10. I'd agree with most of what's been said. The Tidser sub was the wrong one completely, just completely screwed the system. Just one of those days, Philli could have (should have?) had a hattrick, or at least bagged the free header. Moment of madness at the back, :censored: happens. Move on to the next one.
  11. Think LJ has worries over Winchester's ability to last 90, and I think he's right. He was non-existent for last 20 on Sat, and that's a regular occurrence. Plus Daniel Johnson offers a bit of competition for Philly, no-one else in the squad is likely to play that number 10 role (maybe Dayts or Winchester at a push). Good signing, but probably pushes Dayton and (injured) Tidser even further down the pecking order.
  12. I think today showed that the Forte-Poleon partnership doesn't work. It inhibits Forte by making him the 'target man' when he's much better with the ball at his feet. And Poleon... he has moments of good stuff, but has no composure yet - such as the shot that went for a throw in! Into the next round. One win from Anfield.
  13. I've done it a few times. It's a good laugh if you're with a decent crowd. A player comes up before hand for a chat, some ok food, beers are flowing, man of match comes up for an interview, more beers, a raffle and stuff. Should be a good day if you take a few mates.
  14. Baxter's free kick against Forest was incredible. There was absolutely no doubt that it was going in. In fact, that whole 10 minute spell was insane, we were like Barcelona in full flow.
  15. Muamba goes around to loads of clubs and lectures on several things, especially to youngsters (I think with regards to health and having a back up in case football doesn't work out.
  16. Difference is, Kelly and Locky both looked like they were trying, it was likely a lack of fitness holding them back. Poleon's showed a pretty poor mentality so far, thinking of the incident at the end yesterday, his rash challenge on Butler vs Walsall, and I think in the same game he was moaning and throwing his arms around. Definitely feels like he thinks he's the mutt's nuts and that he deserves to be at a 'bigger' club - despite only having scored 5 league goals in his life. His pace means he could absolutely be useful. But LJ has a big job on his hands getting into his head - similar to JCH last season.
  17. Yeah, LJ gave Poleon a shove and a gobful. Too right aswell, he's got a massive ego and shown quite a poor mentality so far, petulant. I see why Rodgers was angry at Balotelli vs Real now. Anyway, shame about the result. Switching off at a free kick is pretty criminal at any level, smart from them. Thought we had two main chances, Forte's deflected one in the first half, and Poleon's in the second. Needed a bit more nous chasing the game in the final 10, ie not out right back cutting in with 5 to go and having a left footed shot, bloody Brown. Thought Jabo and Mills were our best players. Fans were unbelievable, especially the 10-15 mins before half time. Make sure we come back vs Leyton and Crawley!
  18. Ha. I'm assuming this rumour is because LJ followed Fofana and Vieira on Twitter recently....
  19. My little gripe would be with Rachubka. Although he commanded the box well, dealing with crosses etc, and it was Dieng's positioning that led to Walsall's chance, Rachubka was in an awful position, so easy for their boy to tuck it away. Not the first time he's looked a bit wobbly this season.
  20. I loved that goal. Was just as I started following Latics. It's bizarre technique the way he scores!
  21. I'd be a no on this. From a footballing perspective, he only scored 6 in 16 starts and 15 subs last season, and he hasn't completed 90 minutes since the 11th January! Surely there must be a better option out there (Ebanks-Blake)? Plus, add to it all the baggage from last time, I can't see Corney (or Porter, really) wanting this deal to happen.
  22. Low risk gamble who's cost us a few hundred quid, got a chance to look at someone who could have been a good player for us, not made the cut, plus we have Tidser now anyway. And as said above, shows that LJ isn't just a "jobs for the boys" man.
