  1. Such a simple game. Makes you wonder why every team doesn't do this.
  2. Survival. The players we've signed don't inspire me much. Those we've kept inspire me less. The manager says all the right things, but it's about results. His results and our performances under him last year were good, so that's positive. I am looking forward going to Stevenage, and the 9 months that follow it. Surprise me Latics, please.
  3. Given that we all love linking old faces back to BP, Andy Holden was sacked by Martinez at Everton and hasn't followed Moyes to Old Trafford.
  4. "This week my assistant will mostly be Paul Murray."
  5. Mine too. The odd thing is, that, the Warnock one at Huddersfield and the Big Ron Manager thing all painted the same picture of managers. They've no skill really. They just talk utter sh*te like the rest of us and go absolutely mental when players balls it all up.
  6. John Sitton as the experienced number two? Any interest?
  7. Yeah totally. Would the FL turn down the money though? How many people go from Latics' website to buy a VIP package at OT, or spend any money on manutd.com at all? I don't reckon it's many and probably not many, if any, who wouldn't have been on their way at some point. I don't see it taking fans/money from us. Probably fairly poorly targeted marketing, but that's the vast majority of online marketing spend at the moment.
  8. No - they will control the content. They have the resources to do so. We don't and never have. Why is anyone surprised/annoyed?
  9. Oldham Athletic has next to no control over the adverts that appear on its website. United will control theirs to the most minute detail. United will take full advantage of that. Why is anyone surprised/annoyed?
  10. Football club advertises tickets on football related website shocker.
  11. "I would like to find supporters who have at least some football knowledge and musical talent, so we can create some chants." Doesn't sound like he thinks much of us.
  12. Sounds quite disturbing. As a result, I say Cisak.
  13. By the way, £25 in on the day. I can only guess you can see the Olympic Park and that :censored:ty spiral thing from the away end or something.
  14. Will be into Euston about 11 on the 8.55 with a group of about 7. Where are people planning to have a booze?
  15. I hadn't spotted Geoff for what seemed like years until Bury. I thought he might have packed the away days in. Always remember seeing him with Chub going back a bit. And as for him seeing us at Notts C most times (12) on one occasion I watched him serenade the booze cruise with a pretty dreadful rendition of Delilah on the karaoke in the Cattle Market shortly before kick off. I think it was the day Dowie's Latics battered them. Happy days and a good man.
  16. Is Glenn Belezika the saviour of Oldham Athletic, or is it Matt Smith? Maybe Lee Johnson? Or perhaps Kirk Millar? Simon Corney or Tony Philiskirk, anyone? A slim Lee Croft or an gaffe-free Jean-Yves? Or are we surviving by the skin of our teeth in a crap league? I'm confused. Is the future bright or are we :censored:e? Amazing what a few results can do. I said it at Bury at half time. Crap, crap game between two awful teams, but if we could nick it we'd walk away feeling good about our chances. Look at us now. At the end of the day, results are what we live for at this stage of any season, and despite some major concerns at his appointment, Johnson has led us to 11 points from 7 games and pretty much got us over the line (along with the help of some top performances from a few of our key men). Part of me wanted something riding on the last game at Orient just to give it an edge, but hopefully now it'll be a stress-free day in sun, on the lash, showing the big smoke what this Northern :censored:hole has to offer, to end another turbulent 9 months in the life of a Latic.
  17. Had this message from someone I know at the BBC if anyone's interested. "If you know anyone that was locked out, could you ask them to call BBC 606 so we can speak to them on air? It's ridiculous that they couldn't accomodate you all. The number is 0500909693".
  18. Congrats to the class of 2012/13. Yesterday saw them equal the club record of 11 home league defeats in a season. They've now given themselves a two game window to go out and break the record, setting themselves apart from their illustrious predecessors - Ritchie's class of 98/99 (survived at this level on the final day) and the class of 59/60 (had to apply for re-election). Get down to BP against Yeovil and Crawley to see what could officially be the most spineless shower to ever represent the club, write themselves into the history books. This could be the first ever Latics team to lose more than half of their home league games! Don't miss out. The commercial department is no doubt looking into a commemorative t-shirt/DVD range as we type. Get saving folks.
  19. Get in your cars, on your trains and on your buses. If it's on, it's a huge game. 'You'll never beat Lee Johnson'
  20. The only thing I care about is this: P1 W1 D0 L0 F3 A0 Pts 3. Ultimately, what music we play at half time, what he does on the training ground, what he says in the sponsor's lounge, his age, who his dad is, what he says in interviews, whether Croft is fat, how many hashtags Bouzanis and Simpson can fit in one tweet etc etc is all irrelevant. So far, he's doing ok.
  21. I wonder how many programmes are sold in this day and age. When I was a kid my dad always bought one just to keep me quiet for a while until the sports hall opened for a kick about in the Clayton Arms. Having just moved house I realised I still have absolutely loads of them. It was interesting taking a look back. As a way of communicating with fans programmes can't have too many who rely on them these days. Surely they're just a souvenir item to be lost to modernity and cost cutting in the none too distant future. It'd be a shame if it goes that way, but like so much of those happier days at BP, not much remains.
