  1. Nah, disagree - if people have the dosh then let them have the chance of a lifetime playing against their heroes. In the USA they have baseball fantasy camps that costs thousands of dollars and you have to spend a week at the place. The Fans Fixture is aimed about right I think.
  2. I was thinking the same. That Sheff Utd one was at their place as well on New Years Day. One of me and my mates favourite away games ever. We had a record at Bramall Lane and think we went 1-0 down... But what a turn-around! It was sweet for my mate as he had to ring in sick to go to the match. Sheff Utd fans demonstrated outside after the match There must be more of these "final straw" matches but I can't think of any.
  3. That reminded me of the time on Match of The Day when Jimmy Hill blamed the Blackburn ballboy (or girl) for throwing the ball to Liverpool too quickly in the last minute. Liverpool equalised from the throw-in. Years ago it was, in FA Cup Blackburn in old 2nd Div (Still living in the past etc. ....
  4. LOL. Can you imagine what would happened if the ref had done that?!?
  5. Thanks oafc000. Can you check this in the rules?: 1. Redders shoots. 2. Pressman parries in attempt to turn ball round for a corner. 3. Ball hits invading Tic fan and deflects into Barlows path. 4. Barlow buries ball in back of net. 5. Barlow is even bigger hero than he was already (Player of Season) Would this be the theory of "the second shooter"? (Still bored. Still living in the past. Still at work garcon)
  6. I would never EVER not want us to go up. There is never a bad time to be promoted. End of.
  7. I just noticed on Mr. "Beag Teets" signature of Redders famous pen that there looks to be some Latics fans from the Chaddy End encroaching in the 18 yard box. Could Sheff Wed have pleaded a case for having the penalty retaken or is it not against the rules of the game for fans to encroach? (Yes, I'm bored and yes I'm living in the past... Sorry Ronnie.)
  8. And George Hardwick... (thanks Wikipedia)
  9. Goram! Good one. I meant to say can anyone think of the best OR worst. Goram's failed return takes some beating...
  10. In that case I retract my scurrilous accusation and apologise unreservedly for any harm caused... Can you get vista?
  11. Something I read about Allott made me think of what a Sheff Utd fan once said to me: "It never works out when a player comes back to the club he used to play for" As I've only been to 3 matches over Xmas/New Year I haven't seen enough of Allott this season to judge him (- though he was fantastic at Leeds and I was gutted he didn't get that "killer" 4th goal for us in the 2nd half. ) But I've read many people say he is easily our Player of the Season. Anyway, what do you think - is it a good idea or not to bring back a past player to Latics and if so, who was the best for us? I can't remember Tricky Ricky Holden's second spell for us being that great - but he had a lot to live up to.
  12. Don't you get everything for nowt Chickers?!?! "Arrr Jim lad"
  13. Yes, "hope springs eternal" or summat like that! But why do I get the feeling our play-off bid can be likened to Liverpool's "renewed" title bid... Seattle Athletic Die-hard Dogyards* Overseas (SADDOs) *Artistic license pending
  14. That was the first match of that season wasn't it? It was sunny in Oldham that day - I remember it well. There's enough "kiss of deaths" in this thread to ensure we don't win tomorrow. Signed Mr. Pessimistic I've never liked predicting Latics match results, dunno why.
  15. Couldn't have put it better myself. Two young nephews I have brought to Latics, who are both reds, loved having their photo with Chaddy. They ask about him when I am over and go to a match. But they never believe me when I said I was out drinking in town with him once over Christmas! Good times. Good luck Wayne/Chaddy in whatever you do.
  16. Right, thought so. It took me a while to "find the light" here (via JKL Rivals). It's better than the old MB here and the matchday chat is brilliant. Welcome and happy trolling!
  17. Yeah, nice spot of trolling that. Are you the same MaskedOwl of the old Official Message Board?
  18. Membership scheme was dropped because it was deemed illegal by some bureaucrats (FA, FL?) as it was "unfair" on away fans.
  19. It's raining in Everett but the sun has come out for a bit.
  20. I remember that now that you mention it. "It would be better if we went down". Lower crowds, less money, worse players etc... Explain that logic again Mr. Talbot. FFS
  21. Blatant plagiarism Mr. Butler as I posted this in The Andy Gorton Taproom yesterday. http://www.owtb.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=12195 Mods, arrest this man! (Or merge/move the thread if you prefer... )
  22. More classic YouTube. This miss is worse than Ronnie Rosenthal's 1992 miss for the Mickeys at Villa… You can see what the guy's thinking "I'm gonna burst the onion bag with this one…" Oops! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uyKTKHTF35s...feature=related Or is it worse? Judge for yourself… Here's Ronnie's… (unfortunately, no sound on this one) The World's Worst Penalty
