  1. Well done everyone else who posted about Monday's meeting with Lee Johnson. We seem to have converted quite a few doubters. Regardless of tonight's result I hope everyone gives him a chance as he does seem to have a great philosophy on how a football club should be run. Well done everyone - and Prozac, I've never seen anyone make such an impact on their arrival!
  2. I left the meeting feeling very upbeat. I get the impression that LJ has spent the last ten years of his life preparing himself for a management job. He already has a plan for the club on how it should be run from the youth team to the first team, has a network of contacts and will have a full background on all his current and future players. If he can put all his theories into practice we could have a gem on our hands. Good luck to him and I genuinely hope it works out.
  3. A couple of things to remember about Dowie - in the few months before he left, everytime he was interviewed he said that he had no contract at the club; he was actually offered one but kept putting off signing it and when he finally left, Latics had to take him to court to get their car back off him!
  4. I'm hoping Simon Corney hasn't had enough of football after all this. If he does we're dead!
  5. Having read the article about Jose Baxter in the Chron I've got to congratulate the lad for his ethics not like some of the greedy b*****ds we've had in the past and most of the mercenaries in football today. Well done son and I hope you get a big pay day eventually, you, for one, will deserve it!
  6. Not the most talented player but the best attitude ever and the best captain I've ever seen at Boundary Park. Thanks Lee. No.6
  7. I saw Chris Taylor last night and he looks really ill!
  8. There was an earlier rumour saying he was going to Stockport as player/coach after the appointment of there new manager!
  9. I went to the match and 5-2 flattered Peterborough. We were not battered. Peterborough by-passed midfield for most of the match which stopped Furman and Stephens playing there best game. Also, as someone said previously, we took off a defender at 3-2 down and went at them.
  10. I went and although I'm grateful for 3 points it was awful - against 10 men we managed one shot on target in each half not counting the penalty.
  11. To leesover - I'm a qualified accountant and would go with you if you wanted but as Simon Corney has said that would be purely to show how much money BP is costing to run .... there is no way he should (or could) show you anything confidential. P.S. thanks to Simon for last night, I for one could not understand why other sites could not be used but now I do and it was good to hear some of your personal views as a football supporter after the meeting.
  12. oafc0000 you obviously work for the press if you can mis-quote like that !
  13. Reading all the negative comments on this board I have sat back an reflected on our situation and I still fell I have a half full glass not a half empty one. While I agree that things on the pitch are not what I like, I still think it will change for the better. Dave Penny has not fielded what I would imagine is his "first eleven" - all due to injuries. He has hardly been able to put out the same team in consecutive matches again due to injuries. Once we get past Christmas the injuries should ease up. :censored: is with us until the end of the season but Blackman will return to Blackburn and that should release money to let us keep Heffernan who I think will do a good job for us especially alongside Abbott. I also think we will see Flahaven stay to the end of the season. The TTA don't throw money at the club but they have always made sure that we get payers when we have to and there is no way they would see us releagated not that I actually think we are relegation material once most of the players are fit. Come on people - keep the faith - it will come right.
  14. What's wrong with everybody? You would think it's the end of the season and we're about to be relegated. Do any of you think that with the injuries we have had Dave Penney has actually played what he would call his "1st Eleven". Some of the players we have signed have not performed as expected but some have been exeptional - Abbott for one and Gregan who played Beckford off the park on Saturday. I think we will be ok when everyone is fit but I don't believe the boo boys will give it time. This season was always going to be about transition which will take more than one season. Keep getting on the back of TTA. the team and Dave Penney that's really going to help! We are not a wealthy club...things will take time. Get a grip and keep the faith. Rant over.
  15. What is the matter with some of you people. Do you think we've never had a bad start before? Get rid of TTA; get rid of Penney; get rid of the players! Get a grip! You were moaning about the players last season and how we need a clear out. Well we've had one...give it time. None of us are happy when we are not winning. Even if TTA agree with you about getting rid of Penney we're still going to be left with the players. Keep up this abuse and we will alienate the owners, manager and players. I'm as miserable as anyone at the moment but I will not abuse the players. It must be great warming up before you're own fans and having abuse thrown at you by them before you've even kicked off.....that's the way to encourage them. Get a reality check. We have owners who not only saved the club but who are trying to run it on a sensible budget. I for one would rather have my club run on this budget than no club at all. All the moaning about the new stadium...the current one is a ****hole, it's falling apart! No manager or players set out to lose a match, get behind them for once! If the current performances carry on then the TTA will take action but the manager has to be given time. One win and everything will change. I feel better now. Rant over.
  16. HallamBlue is spot on.....and as he says it was a team of rejects who got us to a cup final!
  17. If what Simon Corney says is correct then there is a contract on offer to Hughes. He knows how much we are prepared to pay and he is now trying to get a better deal at Notts County. The guy does not want to be here unless it is as a last resort. Sign someone who wants to be here as most of Dave Penney's signing seem to. Bad apple.....keep him out of the barrel.
  18. I've got to admit I'm quite impressed by our Mr Penney. He seem to be putting together a decent squad and it stikes me that he knows exactly who he wants and he is getting them. At least three more to follow. Happy days ahead. Roll on August
  19. Most people seem to look at Hughes through rose tinted glasses. He was offered a contract in January....he didn't sign. He was offered on loan to Blackpool....he did not have to go, no player can be forced to go on loan. He's a bad influence at the club. It looks like he's not had any offers and is looking to try and stay. Once he's signed a contract with us what makes people sure he will perform. The guy does not want to be here and I think we're better off without him.
  20. The commentators on Latic's World on Saturday said that TTA met with Joe prior to the Brighton game to discuss the possibility of Joe continuing as manager. Anyone heard anything ?
