  1. Yeah I remember that too. Always seemed to give us the benefit in 50/50 decisions and we seemed to win when he reffed us.
  2. nobody likes to see home grown talent go down like has happened in the past...but points are more important than any one player, and we cant carry passengers, simple as +1 That's the bigger picture...
  3. Nice to see that fellow 'tics still have a degree of quality in them. Anyone remember Rodger Millford? He was always a popular ref a BP. A bit of a lucky charm for us in the good old days!
  4. Well if he is depressed - he won't want to play, will he? I didn't say he is not a Latics Fan but we are in a relegation battle in League One. If Chris isn't in the right frame of mind (much the same as 'he doesn't want to play') he should not play.
  5. +1 How many times this season has he 'gone down injured' in the first 15 mins. He doesn't want to play for whatever reason - so get someone in who does. NOBODY is bigger than the club.
  6. He took his shirt off and threw it at the bench. Princess Chris...
  7. Lovely stuff, hope all is well. Congratulations
  8. Silly talk IMHO Latics4Ever. Penney seems like a decent bloke who has been let down by his players and injuries. I would agree that he struggles with changing the team around and appears to be punching above his weight in League One but as for this season, the bigger picture is that a new manager would take too long to get to know the players and the upheaval of changing managers now would possibly kill off our survival hopes anyway.
  9. or... Winston Churchill 4 June 1940 "I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone. At any rate, that is what we are going to try to do. That is the resolve of His Majesty's Government-every man of them. That is the will of Parliament and the nation. The British Empire and the French Republic, linked together in their cause and in their need, will defend to the death their native soil, aiding each other like good comrades to the utmost of their strength. Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old." COME ON OLDHAM - This is more important than Dave Penney...
  10. Al Pacino's Inch By Inch speech from Any Given Sunday I don't know what to say really. Three minutes to the biggest battle of our professional lives all comes down to today. Either we heal as a team or we are going to crumble. Inch by inch play by play till we're finished. We are in hell right now, gentlemen believe me and we can stay here and get the :censored: kicked out of us or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb out of hell. One inch, at a time. Now I can't do it for you. I'm too old. I look around and I see these young faces and I think I mean I made every wrong choice a middle age man could make. I uh.... I pissed away all my money believe it or not. I chased off anyone who has ever loved me. And lately, I can't even stand the face I see in the mirror. You know when you get old in life things get taken from you. That's, that's part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losing stuff. You find out that life is just a game of inches. So is football. Because in either game life or football the margin for error is so small. I mean one half step too late or to early you don't quite make it. One half second too slow or too fast and you don't quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They are in ever break of the game every minute, every second. On this team, we fight for that inch On this team, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We CLAW with our finger nails for that inch. Cause we know when we add up all those inches that's going to make the :censored:ing difference between WINNING and LOSING between LIVING and DYING. I'll tell you this in any fight it is the guy who is willing to die who is going to win that inch. And I know if I am going to have any life anymore it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that inch because that is what LIVING is. The six inches in front of your face. Now I can't make you do it. You gotta look at the guy next to you. Look into his eyes. Now I think you are going to see a guy who will go that inch with you. You are going to see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team because he knows when it comes down to it, you are gonna do the same thing for him. That's a team, gentlemen and either we heal now, as a team, or we will die as individuals. That's football guys. That's all it is. Now, whattaya gonna do? Watch it here Dave...

  14. No I agree too. Dux is not a coach - see reserve results since he took over...

  17. The thing is bb80, Brill is improving. How good will he get in the end? With encouragement from the fans of course
  18. Mr Bates appears to be the stereotypical neighbour from hell with a new found purpose in life, thanks to the stadium plans. Maybe I'm wrong... But the Chron knows exactly what it is doing. Edit - decided to use The Queen's English after all!!
