Gregan hoofed it everytime it came near the big man yet people find this amusing ... Eardley recieves a hospital pass and misplaces a pass and yet he gets abuse for every man and his dog ... its dreadful treatment of a genuine talent we possess, but wot the hell lets all join in ... I would say Wigan 0-2 in 02/03 ?? the playoff QPR year ... we were a match for all that year BUT they battered us that day with Teale, Ellington, Roberts, Kavanagh etc. all going thru to the prem with them as well ... I'm guessing it would have been a joy to watch as a neutral !!! That was the best league1 i can remember ... Crewe had Ashton and Hulse, Cardiff had Earnshaw ... Bristol City were so strong, we had our best squad for a decade and Plymouth didnt even make the top6 then cruised the league the year later !!!

He was brought as a centre half given the lack of options there and the upcoming suspensions .... then shez either HAS to or believes he must play the players he's brought in on loans and he replaces a RB who'd finally found some of the form which makes him such a hot prospect. Personally he's not a FB but did an okay job untill being switched to LB where he had no idea wot to do - didnt know where taylor wanted the ball and kept htting to Lewi's head .... did shez not reckon this would happen when he brought in 6 new players in a month?? He wont play Lewi or Eardley for a while now but one wonders what either is thinking ... Lewi plays well for the first 2 months - strikes up a good understanding with Hughes and albeit not scoring himself, we were scoring and winning games comfortably. Then after a couple of dodgy results both Davies and O'Grady are sent out for football and a loan signing (ormerod) replaces young Lewi who'd done little wrong - his game is never gonna provide 20goals per season directly, but it baffles me that shez cant see wot he is missing as a goal threat w/o lewi's link-up cos its so damn evident. Gets back in scores a hatrick against top of the league and then performs badly like 10others against Yeovil and he aint been seen since thanks to a dancer and a pensioner, who between them have scored 2 goals in 3months .... POOR BLOODY LEWIS !!!!! As for Eardley - best game of season at Leicester at FB and then BANG shez signs a centre half who aint had a look in at a premier league club renowned for blooding youngsters and is shifted in to a midfield role where despite lack of experience (esp. on right of a three) performs admirably in a easy home win and then is shafted as returning players (Taylor) mean existing young players are once again dropped for Shez's glory boys loanees.

I think the poster is a little blind to what the "where's lee/stephens?" brigade are actually getting at ... Latics have quality in almost every area of the pitch, esp promotion quality, barring the central midfield area. There are moans and groans whenever Reubs or Gregan go long - why? i ask, when there is ZERO options; not at RB when lomax replaces Eardley (different debate but WTF????) and when neither midfield player wants the ball, whittaker is berefit of the confidence shown in his first 8-10 games and 'now he's alright' has never DEMANDED the ball. If we add to this the lack of grit exhibited by our danny whit then something has to be changed. Stephens, fair enough is raw and perhaps not ready just yet, although has shown some very nice stuff in the ressie games i've got to. Now anyone suggesting we dont not what lee is like is spouting rubbish given that we've seen him play around 180mins for the club and show some very decent ability. So we need something else in centre midfield, whether that's replacing danny with lee (not maher too similar - becoming a cliche u say? thats cos its true), changing to a 3 man midfield OR signing a player in the area of the field that is costing us game after game 'cos we cant grab a game by the balls and turn the DDDDDDD into 3 god damn points Yday was pathetic Shez .... how can u not see ??? It was Lomax who allowed the guy the free header .... and the reason Golbourne wasn't closing down was b/c he was marking his man in the corner when gregan's block tackle fell to their crosser

I disagree .... he has looked ineffective for months on the left. Different opinions on this - obv. hard being double / triple marked, but also has looked stale. He is and always has struggled to put in quality left foot crosses and aint scored from a cut in for ages. Onlt seems to look impressive when drifting inside trying to affect the match. He's not gonna work in a two, shez has tried that on numerous occasions BUT in a three with two ball players (albeit sideways) behind him AND he will gain space to run at the back four ... give him a "free role" - obv. an extra man in the middle will help and Taylor despite not being able to tackle for toffee does close down hassle and harray. Its worth a go for me cos we just aint creative enough/doing anything different to unlock defences. Wont happen tho, neither will anything revolutionary or different with the master Shez in the dugout
