  1. I presume that you will be right Dan but why pay £25 and then miss the first third of the game? And I work Sundays so no good for me to have to go and queue up. I'm sure someone will pick one up for me!!
  2. Easy solution for me. I sell programmes and don't actually get sat in my seat until around 3-30 / 3-35 on a normal match day. I presume that I will have to pay full price for a ticket when I only get to see 2 thirds of the "entertainment" ( I use that term loosely!!) If I am expected to buy a ticket I may as well tell them to stick me selling programmes on that day. In fact I will go that step further and they can stick it full stop!! That will please a certain member of our illustrious board!! I wonder when they will actually tell us (I bet it won't be before we sell on Saturday!!) Dave Hudson
  3. Pukka If you go to the office that used to be Latics School of Motoring (close to the shop) before Saturdays game Pete Wild or Pete Saville should be able to sort you one out. That office is where we sort out the matchday programmes. If there are any left they will be in there. Dave Hudson
  4. Mvoto has been a liability recently!! One week he's arguably the best centre half in the league, the next the worst!!
  5. After yesterday's gutless effort?? About 12 probably!! I was going to go but after that they can forget it!!
  6. On a different note:- The REDZ Bar This place must have made an absolute fortune yesterday. One large room with a large bar down one side and a bottle bar on the otherside (for people not wanting to queue at the bar. A couple of ovens selling pies, pasties & sausage rolls. Several (maybe 10 - 12) screens showing the live lunchtime game. Just what we need at BP?? I hope that Simon Corney popped in this place and had a look at it yesterday!!
  7. 3140 approx. 110 from Stevo. If, as I fully expect, we lose at Pompey and Donny we could very easily see a sub 3000 home turnout for the Notts County game on the 15th Sept, very very bad times!!
  8. Yeah that's right! My first game as a ballboy, big daft Kevin Francis scored at least one of her own goals of not both?! I'm sure Prozac will confirm!!
  9. Because he was in the police station being booked in. They'll have taken them off when they brought him up to the desk.
  10. You missed the "one off" pink shirt from your list prozac!! Dave Hudson
  11. Dave I'm sure that the club must already "satellite" (or certainly used to have) as the games are / were usually being shown in the boardroom, in the club shop, used to be in the Royle bar etc. I remember that a Trust team went begging to Curry's, Comet and the likes to provide the club with large flat screens in return for - putting their "name" on all Trust correspondance, tickets to events etc, etc Dave Hudson
  12. My favourite subject!! On Saturday v Carlisle I arrived at the Rochdale Road End at 12-30 (to sell programmes). Already at this point there were 11 visitors coaches on the car park (with no sign of any visiting supporters). They had all disappeared elsewhere. Other coaches arrived within the next 10-15 minutes and all I get asked is where is the nearest place we can get a beer. They could actually get a beer inside the ground if they could get in - Turnstiles do not open until 1-45 (if we are lucky!!) I feel that we are missing a huge opportunity here (as I have mentioned on previous threads about this). There is currently only a licence to sell beer for a certain amount of time!! - get a new licence to serve between the hours of 12 & 6 (this is only for probably 20 (max) home games that we have on a Saturday). Only sell from the current kiosks - there is probably enough staff already to cope (maybe employ 1 additional person to both sides) Only sell bottles (at £2-50 / £3 per bottle) - These can be stocked in the current fridges, ice barrels etc (it's not as if it is ever warm at BP anyway is it??) Get the roof extended from the back of the RRE to the turnstiles so that you are under cover as soon as you have gone through the turnstiles. Get a couple of large flat screen tv's to show the "live" lunchtime game and a results service for after the game. Get all refreshments back under OAFC and not let other companies make the profits. Get a turnstile open early and get supporters in spending. (instead of sending them off to the local pubs where they usually do not arrive back at the ground until nearing kick off) As well as beer sales we should also see an increase in the sale of pies, crisps etc. Outgoings would be for a Turnstile operator on both sides to work a bit longer (by opening earlier), a couple of Stewards starting earlier (on either side). The majority of Stewards are at the ground this early anyway!! and the refreshment girls starting a little bit earlier (they too are usually in the kiosks quite early anyway). This is mainly thought out for away supporters (to get them in the ground early and spending money with us instead of elsewhere) but I'm sure that if we just did it for them we would have complaints that home supporters also want to have the same facilities available. I kept trying to push this back when I was involved with the Trust but nobody would take it up. We surely now need to have "new" ways for the club to make more money on matchdays. This is never going to happen until we get supporters into the ground earlier than we currently do. Dave Hudson
  13. Not wanting to knock Jenny & Broady (as they are both relatively new to their current roles) but :- Why do we constantly seem to miss a trick when it comes to marketing? Carlisle have released their new shirt this week also and literally hundreds arrived wearing it yesterday. We have to keep ours a secret until half time during the last match of the season instead of getting it on sale during the week for people to buy and wear for the game. To phrase one of our loanees:- "SHAMBLES!!" Dave Hudson
  14. Not condoning it in any way but thinking back to what types of things the jury may have had in their minds when deciding on McDonald, when you're pissed then to a certain degree your ability to gauge just how pissed someone else is will be reduced. The belief that she's consenting has to be a 'reasonable belief' based on facts at the time. If McDonald was pissed & asked a girl to come back with him & she did, he's probably satisfied that those actions lead to his 'reasonable belief' that she consented. With Evans on the other hand, she didn't go back with him, he just turned up & joined in. The great thing about our justice system is that we'll never know just why the verdicts came out as they did, we can only speculate & just because certain people don't like the verdict doesn't mean it will ever be over turned. He's going to do his 2 and a half years!!
  15. I am!! A criminal lawyer! Who spends 90% of my time in the police station & Crown Courts!!
  16. I've just checked, McCormick got 7 years 4 months in October 2008. By my calculations he'll be due out in about July this year! He'll be between the sticks for us by Christmas!!
  17. The only way he'll be able to lodge any appeal will be if the Judge has mis directed the jury in his summing up, or if something else has happened during the trial that prejudices him so much it makes the verdict unsafe. In reality, as much as they've issued a statement saying they are looking into an appeal, they will know already whether there may be grounds for one, because they will have been looking for appeal points all the way through the trial. Just because some people think it should have been both or neither doesn't mean he'll get an appeal. Even if his lawyers do advise him that he has grounds for appeal he won't necessarily get that chance. He may lodge an appeal of which the merits will be looked at by a single Judge, who will decide if he is allowed to have the matter heard before the Court of Appeal. If the single Judge rejects his grounds then it's tough titties!! I know it's difficult not having heard all the evidence but it appears fairly straightforward to me why he has been convicted and McDonald acquitted - the jury believed that her actions leading up to the events in the hotel gave McDonald enough reason to reasonably believe that she consented and he even asked hotel staff to look after apparantly. Evans on the other hand turned up half way through, joined in and then legged it out of the fire exit to avoid being seen!! Not difficult to see why the jury have come to the conclusion they have. All the deluded Blades fans who think he'll appeal next week, be acquitted next month and be playing again next season need to calm down and have a think about the :censored:e coming out of their mouths! Idiots!! Also to bear in mind is the fact that if he appeals and loses the Court of Appeal are within their rights to increase his sentence! I'll be stunned (yet happy to admit I was wrong) if it happens. He'll never play football again that's for sure. It's one thing taking on someone who killed someone 'by accident' but to take on a convicted rapist is a whole different kettle of fish. I can't see any club ever going near him again, unless Barry is on the board obviously :-) I wonder if Luke McCormick has been tee'd up for next year yet? He must be out within the next 12 months!!!
  18. That has got to be the funniest exchange I've possibly ever seen! What a bell end! Actually, I take that back, I'll be at games between now & the end of the season & wouldn't want a #tapontheshoulder!!!
  19. Idiots!!! Why take the snow off yesterday?!?!?! I'm glad to see we're not the only club in the country who couldn't organise a pi55 up in a brewery!!
  20. I can't believe they have cleared the snow off the covers today. Why not leave it until first thing tomorrow morning? (especially if they are saying that the pitch is fine underneath). It will probably have frozen by morning!! Dave
  21. Yeah that's right, I was a ball boy that night but luckily down at the Chaddy End. One of my mates got whacked by a Burnley fan with a bar or pole of some sort after one of the goals, at half time they just made us all come into the Chddy End half of the pitch! Bruce Grobelaar threw me in the air when Allott scored & Steve Redmond gave me his shirt after the game, top top night!!
  22. This game nearly caused a riot in my house. It was a good job I was born early enough in the day so that my dad could get to the game (apparently he did come straight back to the hospital after the game!!) Do I really need reminding though that it is 50 years ago next month!! Dave Hudson
  23. He was definitely a lot better tonight than he was the first 3 games, looked more like the JYM that we were all do desperate to sign. His first booking may have been harsh - difficult to tell with us being so far away at the other end of the ground - however, knowing he'd been booked made gar second one all the more unforgivable. It was ridiculously stupid when the guy was going away from goal with 2 mins of injury time left when we were under the pump. Luckily it didn't cost us but it could have done!!
  24. I go to most away games & this one looked different. If I read it wrong then fair do's but like I say this one felt different.
