  1. that's what the 'hitch' will have been then............. Doesn't matter who we get in - if LJ continues to play the defensive 4-5-1 we saw in the first 60mins on tuesday in order to fit all these good players into the team, thinking they will all click, then it aint gonna work Forte, Turner, Philli - all strikers - not wingers, wide men, whatever you want to call them; so we will continue to create nothing unless players are played in their correct positions
  2. did both his cruciates in right knee on loan at bury in March, so not going to happen
  3. wouldn't mind seeing the Crewe winger Byron Moore here, always stood out for me when i've seen them, pacey left winger, can also play up front as well Turned down a new deal so maybe we are interested with LJ living round Nantwich area?
  4. yes, countdown conundrum would be the best option - doesn't reveal the name per se and as more people figure them out, they can just simply give their opinion I'm going to stick my neck out based on what's been flying around names wise: - not confirmed but good reviews: Mike Jones - 50/50 reaction - Worrall - Striker - McLeod
  5. cant you just name them in cryptic form, like 'sounds like Marry Shark Fins' that way you're not revealing them?
  6. jonathan greening for a year? 35 but wants another year playing, from Manchester so would know the area and by all accounts from a Forest fan at work he played well still last season when he got a chance and would have kept him on for another year. Won't run but will pick a pass like a shez type, Would still love Harkins back though with the right players around him doing the running Wes was good but not great ala Wellens/K Smith (more ability) - gone for the money so that makes things clear, lack of ambition Not arsed, he doesn't want to stay so why let it bother us as fans? If that's the case Wes, why didn't you just be honest and say at the end of season awards 'look, i'd like to stay but i'm going to be giving things some thought about my next move and offers which may arise and then make a decision as to where I want to be' Rather than 'i want to stay, it's simply a case of sorting things out and signing'?? Anyway, next........................ P.S. Sell Smith AND JCH, then it really will be time to question why we bother and what is the point of the new stand when we're not going to have some ambition where it really matters?? - on the pitch drives those corporate boxes, not vice versa...................
  7. likely JCH sold for a pittance and moody Clarke on a season loan, so he won't even be our player............
  8. im guessing Ebanks-Blake - in for him in January but went to Ipswich, no goals in 10 games and didn't feature much I'd be pleased but like all the strikers we have had, they NEED SERVICE otherwise......they won't score, yet it's still the strikers fault e.g Rooney
  9. appreciate we need to sell to survive, but maybe 1 a season for a decent fee To lose both Smith and JCH just punctures a hole in all that is positive at the moment It also raises the spectre of 'why bother'? Why should LJ spend time scouting players, young ones at that in JCH and slowly get a good group together for them to be sold on within 1 season?? If we sell and sell and sell, we will only go one way All those thinking of a season ticket/attending more games will see our best 2 players BOTH being sold and it just goes to service their cynical and negative opinions on Latics as a club and vindicates the saying 'and they wonder why fans don't turn up?' And it's hard to argue otherwise Smith I can accept as i doubt he will sign another contract, but JCH is 19 and has had ONE season with us!! I hope to god he turns round and says he want's to stay and play games/repay LJ Lets say we get £400k for Smith and £300k for JCH - will LJ be allowed 3-400k of that to go and buy a few players and adequately replace these 2? Likely answer is NO and so the cycle continues I mean Baxter, Tarky, Smith, JCH all in the space of 10 months + a lucrative cup run 2 seasons running? There is a balance to be had between selling and reinvesting/being ambitious and we appear to have none of the latter when it comes to the team, assuming they are sold. Maybe our views as fans are not helped by us not knowing the ins and outs of transfer, agents and what actually goes on; maybe then would we be able to re-evaluate and appreciate reasons why sales are done, be it financial or other reasons in some cases. However, we only ever have news articles and rumours to go off so only ever hear about the sale side and just see it as 'there we are, another one sold' Please prove me wrong Latics!
  10. over on the oafczine; a rumour in the people apparently that Brentford want Korey £500k Rotherham want JCH £400k I know we need money and are a selling club, but seriously if we are gonna work hard to get promising players into our club, they have one decent season showing promise and we then sell them year on year WITHOUT using say £500k of the (assumed and rumoured) above fees back into the team; then why bother? If I remember, JR sold players eg Barrett £1.2m and then went and bought 2 or 3 for £300k or so each, which is fine, but would we do it nowadays? That's what turns the fans away, not so much the selling but the apparent lack of visible reinvestment. I hope if the above is true and does happen then £500k of that will be given to LJ to spend how he wishes. that's the only way we would progress.
  11. Yeah, i mean he's so :censored: he helped keep a number of clean sheets in our 10 game unbeaten run, scored a couple and kept some of the best strikers in the league quiet, along with Wilson Do you have a higher opinion of Guy Branston than Adam Lockwood?? He's not the best but he isn't the worst - he defends, simple as that, which, last time i looked, is his job title Had we more money to attract ball-playing centre halves with pace and power then granted you'd have a point but he's done nothing wrong so far and I had my doubts like most when he first signed
  12. judging by twitter the fact that Lee Johnson has started to follow him means he is off???? One of our most consistent performers the last 18 months, i'll get shot down here but i have never understood people's problem with him - he is a young player who is learning the game and has never made many if any noticeable gaffes when hes played?? He covers well, defends fairly solidly, has pace and gets forward and is always improving. One of PD's better signings 2-year deal for me Hope not ANOTHER one leaving and then ending up on a bench somewhere else for an extra £500 a week to stagnate their career.....................
  13. also keep an eye on https://twitter.com/ismithard and https://twitter.com/FLTransfers2014 for rumours folks!
  14. LJ now hopeful on Rachubka signing according to his interview on LP, great news, fingers crossed Also closely looking at Scotland, one or two from abroad ala Kasunga and also England Weso very good offer from abroad (thats Oz then) - fair play to him if that's what he does
  15. 18 May 2014 01:19:57 Korey Smith to join Brentford for an undisclosed fee with Will Grigg going on a season long loan to Oldham as part of the deal. Should be tied up and announced by end of next week I'm told. Oafc1 from football rumours site
  16. on the Accy site he has the demeanor of Tarky about him and has scored 9 goals this season..... Should we get him then a CB foursome of Murphy, Kusunga (if fit), Lockwood and Wilson seems pretty solid to me Let's hope the LJ overtures of young group, young manager, new stand, progressing club etc can outweigh the monetary offers in the sense that he plays more games and will get attention if he does well rather than being just a number at clubs like Sheff Utd
  17. We will move for the Hearts keeper Macdonald, tried for him in January for £30k if you believe the Scottish papers, 28 yr old, knows LJ from his time there. Would be happy with either, Rabs has been top notch (always said he was better than Oxley from day one, wonder where we may have finished with him in goal from the off......................) and Macdonald is rated up there also
  18. if this gets through then that's it for me with football, would totally rip the whole England tradition apart and render it all worthless - Oldham v Stoke City Reserves for the title? Seriously? Danny Mills was on radio 5 tonight and came out with the most eliteist brainwashed load of guff, even Claridge was fuming and flabbergasted at his reasoning. What the 'commission' have conveniently avoided is this simple answer - stop all premier league clubs from having any non-UK based players in their academy's from age 11-18 which forces them to bring British players through. If they're good enough they'll come through, otherwise they won't But that's logical, can't have that to fill a 100 page load of tosh 'report'................. Darragh McAnthony is also against this ans has tweeted that this must be fought by all league clubs, saying that they will no doubt be asked to accept the proposal or get no solidarity payments - if it meant the history and integrity of football in the country being maintained i'd accept us having to sell JCH and Korey to cover the shortfall I'm sure there's young kids out there who we could sign to replace them....................................... Sod off and play each other in your own league - Spain only have a B team league because they haven't the number of teams this country has, we are unique And yes, Stoke City reserves vs Oldham on a tuesday night with them not being able to get higher than league one is going to aid the England team isn't it Put the billions you get from tv revenue into grass roots, put the block on the recruitment of foreign kids into clubs before age 18 and even bring the Spanish coaches over if you have to. Problem solved
  19. Billy Clarke released by Crawley - he 'nipped out to take a call' from Blackpool when DP was manager sign him i say
  20. Jon Taylor is 22, 5ft 11 according to the shrews site and weighs in with 6-9 goals a season from the right wing - assume Dayton to be back on his natural left side if Harkins aint coming back Although should Micah go for the rumoured £8m, £1.6m into the club for the stand/losses/budget will possibly help us get one or two more than we would have done without it.
  21. gutted if Rabs is off - hasn't put a foot wrong. Cannot believe we played 3/4 of the season with 'i won't come for a cross even though i'm six foot 4' Oxley....... Rachubka has always been a decent keeper wherever he has been - to be fair i'm suprised he didn't leave in Jan having been 2nd fiddle to Oxley after error after error. Should have offered him a 2-year deal with a year's option as soon as he was put in the team, just getting to his best years. Another one is off then.......all change again...................................
  22. think he will be staying - LJ has said previously in an interview that we have sent him to Milan to see a specialist about his injuries - you don't waste time doing that if you aren't going to use it to your benefit and keep him/get him properly fit; if you were releasing him you do that and nothing else Really hope he does and can get himself fit with a proper pre-season - has pace, strength and power - with Lockwood and Wilson that's 3 good CB's for this level
  23. Anyone fancy Lee Miller from Carlisle as an experienced front man? In a poor Carlisle team but knows where the goal is, strong and would be another battering ram alongside JCH, may be suited to a team with better players around him and another one the midfield could play off? Had a fallout this week with GK, think his contract is up in June as well, will also know LJ from Bristol days...........................
