  1. All I would do personally is get a partnership of Mellor (or Rusnak at a push) and Smith in CM - Mellor can surge with the ball as well as defend and can be our attacking force, has a great left foot and can pass a ball; more mobile than Wes who tries his best and does his job, but we need a little more drive in there and Korey can't do it all himself LJ also needs to pick a front 2 and let them gel, no wonder Rooney is playing well in patches when he has a different striker with him very 2 games. Sure mix it up every now and then but for the most part we need a partnership going. Think Mills will go back to Burnley as much as we'd like to keep him can we justify his wage/part of wage when we have Grounds for LB and Kasunga/Lanzoni at CB? And finally..... Tarky is 20 and looks fantastic so far this season and I have been one of his doubters even wavering as to whether we kept him on in the summer! Montano is also 20 - i think many forget just how young some players are when they look in some games as though they have been playing for years. He has been awesome this season and his injury has knocked him back, just as Dayton is also starting to find some rhythm. Monty is a player who needs to get into a game as it wears on as opposed to being at it from the off when he comes on as sub, takes him time to get into the pace of things. He will be a great player for us this season and I hope we can extend beyond the extra year option we have, still be 21 then and he is going to be a very good player, another one who should be going for £700k++ should be ever sell. Keep behind the lad and bring his confidence back as with all of them - watching the game on TV and even at 2-0 down as silly as we were to give the goals away out of nothing, i felt entertained and not bothered by the scoreline, simply because we played that well. They all gave their all and that's all we ask of them whatever happens in the season - promotion, relegation, whoever we have playing for us if they put in the effort at all times on a matchday then that's fine by all of us i'd say. We've been horrendously unfortunate and also stupid in equal measure so far but not once have we been battered. I maintain that Peterborough and Wolves aside no one else stands out as being as able as us to play proper football, as long as the players believe they can be successful they will be - their ability is not in question. Keep behind them all and we will turn the corner - 2 wins and we are bang in it as is all that's needed every season in league one - 3 straight wins and it looks totally different again. KTF
  2. All their fans thinking it's a nice easy win for them, mainly predictions of 2-0, 3-0 and 4-0 and calling us 'one of the lesser sides' I think they'll be in for quite a shock when we turn up with the players we have. In all seriousness Wolves and Peterborough aside there is no other stand-out team in this league and i think we have one of the better able squads in the league with not many that are better. Preston certainly dont scare me and are still mainly an image of Westley's time there with the fat lump Davies added to it. Bring 'em on!
  3. mellor in midfield with korey now please, no excuses LJ!
  4. once the loan window opens id expect byrne and winchester to be out on loan and leave us eventually. Mellor must now move to CM surely no we have adequate cover?
  5. cliff byrne to scunny before monday - aint gonna get a look in assume we tell Robins to f off and keep Tarky??? Had my doubts but he has been very good so far this season WHY WHY WHY just when we have something promising something always comes up and puts a dent in it??!!! LEAVE US ALONE and keep away from our squad!
  6. city player could be a right back, plus another CM - we are light in there anyway regardless of Baxter going. I'm more inclined to think that resting him at pboro and sat was more in line with seeing how we coped without him and no doubt LJ has planned for this for some time. Rusniak would be as good a replacement, as would Wellens. It's just a shame that when we finally have a squad where there is decent quality in every position, we cant keep it together for the season, but I guess on our budget we will never be able to sustain all the quality players throughout the season, sacrifice one for a fee and get 2 or 3 in for the betterment of the squad. As long as the replacement is as near as his quality as we can get then that's fine. Again, no gripe with the club at all in this we have got a good deal out of JB in the end whichever way you look at it, my only gripe is that it is sheff u, in the same league and in the state they are in which is not a team packed with quality, its a squad of cloggers plus baxter and now theyre gonna think theyre the bees knees..................... Annyway, thats football i guess, Tottenham with Bale and Arsenal with RVP had to do the same so we cant moan i guess. Now - will latics have had the foresight to stipulate that JB is to not play against us during this season? If he were to score the winner against us in the playoffs at some stage, that really would be 'thanks very much'
  7. I agree Roytoner and why having simmered a little I retracted my comments on it being the end of the world somewhat - the team is more than one player and i have no doubt LJ will strengthen us and we will REALLY have a decent squad once all is finished. My gripe is that he has jumped ship to a fellow league one club average on the field at best, unlike Wolves who still have a premiership structure. Anyway, I guess perspective is needed, we will move on and time to support the lads as always on saturday. These things happen and whilst living on the doorstep of bramall lane will mean I will constantly be reminded of what they've just done to us for a while yet, i'll get over it as we did when Wellens left etc Us going up and them being stuck here again will make it all the more sweeter I'm sure the same was felt when JR sold Redfern after he had just scored 20 goals from midfield, and sold him because he wanted to play him as a winger! Now THAT must have caused uproar, no? (to young to remember) Suprised and irked but that's life, he has wanted to move so if he doesn't want to be here even til January, then we don't want him. Wellens as a signing would be as good a replacemen mind!!
  8. clearly havent seen them play recently then have you? very average at best, they've been average against us since being in league one - nothing but hoof against us under Wilson last season and crumbled against us the previous season. Poor poor from him, - rash move by him, money and Weir will have been the reasons
  9. simmered down, still a team in our league really is illogical with Jan round the corner
  10. have you seen their squad?? average at best and thats from their own fans. crowds and stadium yes but finances, debt and team are poor. we have a far more dynamic and able team than them, for sure. don't get all their hype, been :censored:e the last season and evans made them seem better the year before, a team of cloggers.
  11. sorry, not having this - Baxter and club are bound by a contract. Should the club accept a bid he can speak to the bidding club but does NOT have to leave. Any 'orders' he would be following are of his choosing in wanting to leave, nobody elses. If the club could not afford him for the next 2 1/2 years on the terms agreed, logic would suggest that no deal would ever be signed which the club could not meet. A club higher up bids for him be it lower than the clause (if it exists), the club feel right to inform Baxter and he speaks to them and goes then fine i can accept that; but to go to sheff utd if true is a complete sideways and backward step and to me it would therefore only be for the money and not football ambitions. If i'm him, you'd just keep playing and wait til January, another bit of good form and someone will take a chance given the small fee involved, undoubtedly. Next......................
  12. Love how (clause aside) people are now seemingly in the know as to the minutia of his contract, probably down to how many sugars he stipulates to being in his daily cup of tea.! The only people who will know the ins and outs are him, SC, his dad and agent. Sure, he will want to move on and not play 2nd fiddle, however he has barely played a full season in football up to now and he is part of a young and skillful team, in line with how he plays unlike he team of dross last year where he really was a one man team. I don't mind him leaving at some point - I'd love him to have a full season here, pay his dues and then go giving us the release fee in return and maybe even leading us to promotion in that season; if not then farewell to the champioship he goes. I'd find it pretty astounding that of all the clubs he would 'move on' to, Sheffield Utd would be the one he would pick. He has a contract which the club are obliged to honour, whatever the wages it stipulates (and I have no idea as to what this may be) - he can talk to a club should they meet the release fee (if this indeed does exist as rumoured by others) - it doesn not mean he has to leave. Which is why the only reason he would leave us for Sheff U in my eyes is for money or the chance to work with Weir if he really rates him or thinks he may 'have it easy' for want of a better term, by being someone who knows the gaffer and can be assured of a pick every week regardless ala Dickov? If this does transpire I would be gutted and also disappointed in Jose, i'd expect better from him than this sort of move given what he has said previously about his motives and ambitions - why take a sideways step when he could go one better in 4 months time most likely? Just does not make sense to move there at all, even for the £ that may be on offer
  13. if he thinks that everywhere he goes he will never be put under pressure for his place and will always be playing no matter what then he won't last long in football and certainly not the higher up you go. He's been out of the team for one week and undoubtedly he played whilst injured against pboro - he can't see the team win and play well and then do a Furman within 2 days and spit his dummy out sulking that he isn't first choice immediately. He will need to earn his place in any team higher up the league, so it's time he did it here before then - not saying he has been playing poorly cos he has been ok, but on saturday's performance Wes and Korey deserve to start as does JCH, so that's the way it is for everyone, not just him.
  14. if I was him, why on earth would you want to leave a team and squad with undoubted ability and the potential to achieve something to go to a club with a lesser squad ability-wise and at the same level? If you're going to do that you may as well stay where you are. He can do better than league one for a start if and when he does eventually move on If he did go to sheff utd then it's because of Weir and the money on offer, in which case I would seriously question his thinking and motive in wanting to play football and progress. Highly doubt it
  15. to be fair, we do need RB cover and one CB minimum, maybe 2 I'd ship Wes out - don't need him as much as he does try and isn't too bad a midfielder, but we have other options and other needs. Lets speculate Wes is on £1800pw For that money, we could get a decent CB/RB for £1k a week and the £800 towards a loan RB/CB and keep Byrne as cover/coach - should he want to go back to Scunny as he still lives there I believe, then fine. OR SC says yes LJ we can sign Wilson and Bates on the offset that Baxter is sold in Jan..................................... Would you do it? I would not want to lose Baxter at this stage, ok he isn't the all-commanding AM/CM, but he can change a game in an instant and the forward players we now have will thrive off him once we settle down into a few games and they begin to gel, Rooney as well up top don't forget. That's how i'd do it anyway, bye bye Wes, possibly Byrne although with Cliff i'm sure personal and not football reasons dictate aka communting and such like. Thoughts?
  16. How much height do you lot want??? Byrne 6ft+ Tarky 6ft+ Belzieka 6ft+ Eddi 6ft+ Grounds 6ft+ Some of the above may be inexperienced but they will never become experienced without playing games - it's about time we played the kids and made them learn and develop into the team rather than constantly bringing in newbies. Byrne and another is fine - Byrne hasnt much pace but reads the game well, same as Gregan did. Another no doubt tall and pacey CB will come in on loan and if Lascelles as rumoured then he is more than adequate. Rooney up top as well and we will be seriously on for a potential top 10 place/playoffs. Last season the only height we had was Mvoto and Smith and not one murmour of moaning. Chill out and let LJ manage - all this panicking is pointless, whatever deficencies the squad as is his job to resolve or be happy with - again he is learning so won't be perfect, his first full season dont forget. We have a pretty talented and promising squad all in all - Yeovil didn't have the 'bruisers' at the back that you're all wanting - look where they finished. Chill out and lets see what happens. All we can ask is they give their all and if we go with the youngsters so be it - we've had :censored:ter squads at the back than this season will be, remember how the 'experience' of Forbes, Swailes, Branston and Scott turned out? KTF
  17. it's called putting on muscle and bulking up - he's a short arse so it will look more pronounced on him than others. It is up to the manager to decide if he is overweight (which in my opinion he isn't) If the manager thinks he is of the required standard/level of fitness then that's fine......i think you all need to grab a beer and sit in the garden for a while to chill out....
  18. either of Sodje or Garner would be good solid signings for our level
  19. Akpo Sodje would be a decent signing, 33 so again adds experience, 6ft 2 so adds height and has scored 6 in 16 in a relegated scunny side. Get him in and amongst Clarke-Harris, Macdonald, Baxter and the fast wingers feeding off him, not too shabby seem to remember A Rooney being on £8k a week at Swindon so a no go?
  20. see what i mean? one good purple patch and they demand £4m and get it, Murphy has one great year at Crewe and goes for £1m And yet people on here and no doubt the club would seriously consider Baxter going for £300-£500k???!! If we ever sell him for that amount i'd be disgusted, visa-vie the above figures in comparison..
  21. http://www.bcfc.com/team/player-profile/index.aspx?playerid=483582&tcmuri=579594 think its him
  22. https://twitter.com/jordanmartin9/status/349289387068096513/photo/1 unless he's had a facelift it aint big Jean
  23. er.....people have all neglected to mention Clarke Harris who could well bag a fair few - him aside assuming baxter is playing as a striker we need another 2. brandy off to sheff u, Lee Miller at carlisle would be ideal................ or Matt Green at Mansfield, pace and power 25goals last season
  24. signed up yonks ago when RM went there to give them banter, still like to look at what theyre saying/who linked with as similar to us in many respects. I chuckled when I saw they have signed a creeking 32yr old CB and a crap LB from Hpool Schmeltz and Clarke-Harris will leave them for dead Then there's Goodison don't forget........ Pace to burn in their backline But Ronnie is at it again isn't he 'we need experience in there, you can get loads of kids but we need old heads' Always goes for the older player and never gives youth the chance or builds a team of younger players ala LJ unless he has to
