  1. Amos - Needs to accept his share of the blame for two of the goals, and seriously needs to work on his atrocious kicking - 5 Lee - Very average, with little willingness to overlap - 6 Trotman - Hoofmeister. Panicky and unaware for the biggest part. A couple of decent defensive headers, but nothing like the confident defender that went to Preston - 5 Hazell - Wakey Wakey! You aint a footballer so stop trying to be. Do your job and meet the ball first with a clearance. Occasionally found good space to lift pressure from Trot, but otherwise lacking in Captaincy material. - 6 Black - Frightened kitten. Turned into trouble too often and hoofed his way out. Stood still for the third goal. - 4 White - A couple of decent touches, and half a dozen good tackles doesn't constitute putting a shift in Aidy. Put yourself about a bit more, and find yourself some space. - 5 Stephens - One of the few positives in the game. Overrun by a packed midfield, he still managed to find space and keep the ball on the floor - 8 Jones - Much better in that position. Like Stephens, he tried to keep the ball moving despite the pressure - 7 Morais - Should be an out and out winger - when he roams into the middle we lose a necessary wing outlet and end up trying to force balls through packed defences instead of getting behind them. Clearly our most gifted player IMO, but missing too often last night - 6 Tonk - Offered little. Needs a confidence building shot in the reserves - 4 Taylor - Never looked comfortable when in the middle, and lacked confidence when taking it wide. - 5 Lewi - Had little time to prove himself, but didn't do anything wrong - 6 Reid - Why, Dickov, why? He has a long way to go to prove himself, and in the six or so minutes he was onfield, his only contribution was a silly yellow card for handling the ball when he should have done so much more with it - 4 Dickov - spent 90 minutes yelling "Ref!, Ref!" instead of barking orders to the team. Love his commitment, but he's the coach, and when we're playing poorly he should be offering some semblance of direction. Bored of listening to his constant whinging, and would have been happy to see him sent to the stands after swearing at the ref. Coach your side Paul, and forget the ref. - 4 Taggart - (Ok, he couldn't influence the game from where he was but my point still stands) We have let in 30 goals since January, with a third being from set pieces, and a huge portion conceded at the far post. What exactly is Taggarts role at the club? Not good enough Gerry - 2
  2. It really is time to revert back (as much as possible) to the team that did so well at the start of the season. We looked so much better balanced and aware. I hate all these "we over achieved / punched above our weight" comments. No we didn't - we proved what we are capable of, and now we've pissed about with two thirds of the team we can't score for toffee or defend. Surely its no coincidence?
  3. We're not back on the subject of your dad again are we? It's already instigated a mass brawl involving camp dancers, buffet robbers and wannabe Pilates warriors. Give it a rest!
  4. Wasn't some of that 30 acres needed to replace existing sports pitches on the FW site? If so, then surely we would only need enough land to build the facilities that would fund the club?
  5. It's a guess Jamie, but yes, I really think it would dip that much. To use Gigg Lane as an example, the last time we played there I went by coach. It took over 40 minutes, and the cost was £5 each. If the club were to lay on free transport, even after striking a deal with a coach company it would still cost them at least £3.50 per supporter - they certainly couldn't reduce admission by that much at the moment, so I don't see how they'd cover it in free transport. I wouldn't be prepared to add an hour and half to my matchday travelling (Particularly on a Tuesday night), plus forking out for the privilege, and I suspect there are a great many more who wouldn't. Especially when the playing budget has been inevitably cut, and we are watching performances akin to that of last Saturday. I thought we had a hardcore of 4500 that wouldn't desert us, but that keeps on getting lower, so who really knows exactly how many would follow us to the moon? If it is those who were still there at the final whistle on Saturday, then it is little over a thousand.
  6. Last time maintenance figures were quoted, the club 'inadvertantly' included groundstaff wages and other unrelated costs when explaining why £400k was needed for improvements, so I'd take it with a pinch of salt. Gates could possibly dip to less than 1500 if we travelled to Gigg Lane etc, which would cripple us in terms of playing budget. All hail our saviours, The Three Amigos. We're in it deeper now than we ever were.
  7. I won't be there cos I can't be arsed, but will someone please ask Simon... Does it not hurt, constantly shooting yourself in the foot? That's all. Thanks.
  8. It may be relevant to point out that only 4 of the players who started the season so well were playing yesterday. Bringing so-called 'better players' in doesn't necessarily mean you'll improve. The whole balance of the team now appears to be missing, and players don't appear to know where to find each other. Morais is an outstanding player, but giving him a free reign doesn't seem to work. Give him a role as an out and out winger, and we may see more product in the box. Evina seems to be panicking and hoofing because his easy outlet has gone missing, and the midfield appear to be defending more than attacking, because they just can't be sure where to make the pass any more. We are no longer a team - we are just a side. Sheridan was slated for doing the same thing, remember?
  9. Chief executive Stefan Gamble said: “The fans have told us what they want and we have responded by offering free football to youngsters and freezing prices for the third consecutive season. The town’s youngsters are the future of this club and we are trying to do everything we can to get them behind the club. The free ticket offer is a great way to get involved and watch live football in a modern stadium with superb facilities.” Those prices are only available during the club’s ‘early bird’ promotion, which starts on March 1 and runs until April 2. The club have also extended the age category in which children can join ‘Swifty’s Squad’, meaning youngsters who are under-12 on August 6, 2011 can attend all home League games for free on a match-by-match basis when accompanied by a full paying adult. The bit in bold type might make all the difference It really is a good idea though. Even if only £1 was given back on the turnstile each week. The chances are that many youngsters would buy a coke, a pie or a scarf from the club shop, and the younger ones would possibly be chaperoned by a full paying adult. If those kids flocked to the Carlisle game for two quid, then a quid per game sounds a fantastic deal.
  10. It's fair to say I have large numbers of files containing information about the land, contamination issues, and business relocation costs for that area. It hasn't passed me by how much money I could make by offering secure match day parking if the club relocated to Hollinwood! I reckon your dad might want a piece of that venture too, though!
  11. No. Definately not. The Gas Works are currently improving their site at a cost of millions, Victoria Mill has recently been renovated at a cost of millions, and houses several businesses, Relocation of Ferguson Polycom was costed at £5.8m four years ago, the Waggon and Horses has recently been acquired (By a Latics fan) and granted permission to change to an upmarket restaurant at a cost of c. £400k, which still leaves relocation of around eleven other businesses. The only land available is the land on the other side of Albert St, which would mean removal of a Networked storage gasometer, costing upward of £1.5m.
  12. Carlisle News and Star report describes a number of people trying to calm Taggart down after the incident, wityh the author calling it.................... .............'Gerry and the Peacemakers'!!!
  13. To be fair, it's something everyone's talking about. It was always going to be a headline story.
  14. Not going to disagree with that. We really did seem to panic under pressure last night.
  15. PD also pays a huge amount of notice to the statistical advice Dux gives him during the game. I think they all work really well together.
  16. If it turns out that there is no video evidence, shouldn't we all be saying that Taggart was actually a victim of a serious unprovoked assault by several of the Carlisle players, and needed treatment by the club doctor after leaving the side of the pitch? We demand justice for our innocent, warm-hearted, good-tempered Assistant Manager!
  17. Totally agree. Width, movement and making yourself available for the pass keeps it simple. Add our pace to the equation, and you have a winning combination.
  18. We moved the ball around quickly, taking advantage of a wet pitch. We kept it on the floor, when we realised they were far superior in the air. We spread Carlisle wider to give ourselves more room on the ball. We constantly fed the wings, and took the ball down to the goal-line to whip crosses in. We put pace on our corners. We made ourselves an available option for quick passing. We pushed up in midfield, allowing us to take the game to them. We played the simple ball when it mattered. Oh, wait..............No we didn't. Come on Latics, we are capable of so much better than that. We were in the top six because of all the above. Stop this long, high ball nonsense that's crept in over the last few games, and start tearing teams apart from the wings again. Three people were there last night that I've been banging on to about how our style of play has changed, and why they should get back to BP. Obviously they don't agree, judging by their comments this morning. We ARE a good side. We've seen it. Poor application, poor individual performances and totally wrong tactics would have suggested otherwise to the stayaways last night.
  19. He WAS backed up, but they were slow to react (As they were all night really!). When punches were thrown at Lewis, Tags stormed on and pulled three of theirs away. All three turned on GT, so he palmed each one in the face in quick succession - The last one (14?) caught it a lot harder than the other two, and it wouldn't surprise me if his nose was (As reported) broken. Dickov did a bit of pushing and squared up to one guy who towered over him, but clearly didn't fancy mixing it with the fiery Jock, and Tounks dragged a couple of their players around with apparent ease. The ref had a smile on his face when he asked Tags to go up the tunnel, so hopefully he'll view it as a coach doing his duty in his report. Meanwhile the main instigator (No. 25) walked away and stood at the back, avoiding the attentions of the officials - Lucky bastard. Surely Playershare can donate to any fine Tags receives?
  20. Food? There won't be any left by 7.30. You can be sure of that. Besides, do the club actually make anything from pie sales? I thought we were paid by the current suppliers for the contract rather than the profits?
  21. Long after most people had gone, there were two people still stood in the Chaddy taking in the moment with tears streaming down their faces................Me and Zorrro's dad. At the return leg, we noticed Joe Royle had took the very unusual step of naming a spare keeper on the bench, and knew we'd be in for a rough time, but we soaked up wave after wave of Hammers attacks, and confidence grew. Best 3-0 defeat. Ever.
  22. I tried doing something months ago when I opposed the barmy F/W ideas and suggested we should abandon it and look for other options, as it was always going to tear us apart. No :censored:er listened then, so why bother now? Instead, I'll just pray that someone with an ounce of business sense comes along and picks up the pieces that TTA left.
